I love John Candy. He was in so many good movies. And it seems that nobody has a bad thing to say about the guy.

He was always a funny dude, but he did a great job when he had some more serious and dramatic scenes to do. In the dramatic scenes in particular, I thought his performances were brilliant because they were subtle, which felt natural.

I'll just say that I wish the guy had taken better care of himself. Had he been around for longer, there is no doubt in my mind that he would have made a lot more good movies, and would have at least earned something along the lines of an Oscar nomination.

This thread is a great honey pot and anyone talking mad shit about jews or whatever should just be given pink triangles. If anyone had a basis for saying he was shit I'd respect it but you can see there are retards around.
As it stands, any negative and cynical comments about John Candy are null and void based on the existence of Uncle Buck alone.

I understand the cynicism about the creation of yet another documentary about some dead actor. I'm actually surprised there wasn't already a John Candy one, which I guess this is why this documentary will be interesting.

An underrated John Candy performance: Only The Lonely, with the legendary Maureen O'Hara as his overbearing Irish mother and Ally Sheedy as the love interest.

John Candy actually pulled off being the main character in a romcom insanely well. It's a very subtle, yet charming performance and it just works. Hats-Off Entertainment did a really good video covering it a while back, too.

Unfortunately the movie is damn near impossible to find on physical media and it's not streaming anywhere. I currently own a 25+ year-old DVD that has been long since out of print.

Just thought I'd mention it, since this is a John Candy thread, and I think the movie demonstrated how versatile of an actor he was.
