Reynolds and co-producer Hanks said in a statement: “When you hear the name John Candy, your face lights up. He wasn’t just a great actor; he was an even better person. People loved his everyman qualities, but they didn’t know how relatable John really was. He went through the same struggles we all do, except now we talk about them. We are incredibly honored to have gotten to know the man better through this process and to bring the real John Candy to audiences starting with his hometown of Toronto.”

Chris Farley was the fat obnoxious retard. John Candy was usually a more awkward fat average joe guy who often put his foot in his mouth.
Definitely, he had layers to his personality and when he talked to women in most movies he was actually a relatable and respectable person (for example helping the mom get back to her son in Home Alone). He was a great actor and just looked like a wonderful, super friendly person to get to know.

Another Jew cash in on a dead person, color me surprised.

Why do Americans find "Obnoxious Fat Guy" to be peak comedy?

Add also some rare incursions in dramatic roles, like his short cameo in JFK.

The only funny bit I can recall is "fat guy in a little coat" which is a single gag in an entirely unfunny movie, otherwise his entire schtick was being a cokehead who screams and flails around. he met a fitting end if not a little bit of a tragic one.
