The fun thing about mald to me is that he struggles with irrelevancy but there's always a chance there is an explosive release of milk like his mods suddenly leaving. This man is still trying to continue business as usual and it includes part of the ego that propelled him into relevancy, but said ego is also so bruised its already deflating like an airtight container with a leak
So, a little SKG update from the piratesoftware discord.
It is essentially 4 hours of lies, and some of his fans being ignorant. Many celebrations over the EU ruling. Alot of the conversations are headed by his paid janitor forest, and his unpaid jannies "zafaroth", "luna6667" and "golemancersart". WIth the 3 unpaid jannies, I'm torn between whether they're lying in the hope of future financial support from their sycophant or they're genuinely delusional.
I've saved what remains of the full conversation below. Some dissenters were promptly banned for their support of the movement.
Conversation goes all over the place, but here are some highlights.
This is an interesting introduction. One of the unpaid jannies and ex-mods Zafaroth states that "he is not against SKG" but blames ross for being the "progenitor of my own actual suffering". More on this later
Honestly, this response is actually half accurate, because the reasoning provided by the EU was something Mald mentioned in his video. Now, pirate's counterpoint for the initiative that was mentioned by the EU was addressed by both Ross' FAQ in 2024, and Ross' response to mald in 2025.
EU response:
The Commission considers that at this stage it cannot propose a legal obligation to keep video games playable after they stop being provided commercially. This is due, also, to existing intellectual property rights. Under EU copyright law, rights holders enjoy exclusive rights over their creations. In addition to copyright, other intellectual property rights may also be relevant as they may protect different visual and technological aspects of a video game.
The weird part is that copyright laws don't prevent games from being saved. Per the initiative below
The initiative wouldn't conflict with copyright law. The customer would have no additional rights beyond what they were sold in the first place: the ability to run a copy of the publisher's game. The only difference between now would be the publisher would no longer be able to permanently revoke the license without any fault from the customer (i.e. hacking, online cheating, etc.)
So...the EU's rejection premise has already been refuted by the initiative 2 years ago. This is as retarded as Mald's response lol.
That said, Mald did misrepresent the initiative extensively, not just about copyright infringement, but also releasing source code/server binaries, mandate for keeping servers online, and licensing laws. And then refused to have a conversation with Ross/the initiative when they tried to correct him.
So, half points to that response.

No, Luna6667, there were other game devs who had arguments and conversations with Ross about it. Your boss just refused to sit down and talk it out like a normal person.
Also they seem to conflate all piratesoftware detractors and critics with SKG. I guess this ties back into how they think all SKG supporters = kiwifarms = Ross Scott.
The funny part about this is that the EU quoting pirate on copyright laws doesn't mean the initiatives claims about it were wrong, especially not when they've given a tiny paragraph with no further elaborations much like Pirate.
And it doesn't address any of the other misrepresentations and lies Mald told.

He stated that his criticism was only on the language of their request, and not the request themselves, despite not supporting their request.

At this point, to conclude on SKG. I believe the practice of planned obsolescence from gaming corporations, publishers and devs will continue to shine a spotlight on Ross and the initiative founders, since that isn't going away. The EU ruling is obviously bullshit, and this isn't going away any time soon.
The ball is in Ross' hands to see how he responds. And of course, I think Mald's involvement in SKG won't be going away. We'll see if he parades this victory around in his upcoming streams

Sure, he might be disappointed but I doubt he's surprised, but he's talked about how he hates that this is a grey area where companies pretend it's both ways. If they came out and said "you don't and won't own anything" and that had to be reflected in terms and marketing, then he'd like that they stopped pretending otherwise, at the very least.

When Asmongold started covering the SKG saga immediately half of reddit started questioning Ross's validity. It's part of the reason some controversial people chose to distance themselves from the movement because they knew they would be bad for it.
