Is there any resistance to this or is it going through uncontested?

It would be really interesting to find out if any of these burned places were finished with the comprehensive fire protection initiative..
All the fires and the recent metal theft seem to be concentrated in an area from around Tokyo down to the southwestern tip of Honshu (the biggest island), and northern Kyushu (that southwestern smaller island that Fukuoka* is on).

* Had I not known how to pronounce Japanese right, I wouldn't pronounce it like "Foo-koo-oh-kah", it'd likely be more vulgar.

Apparently as late as the 80s, Japanese corporations were passing lists to each other containing family names from "burakku" villages (I think they were villages that would practise stuff that was taboo to the rest of Japan like eating pork) presumably to blacklist them, do those lists still go around and are those villages still a thing?

We all know as to who is responsible for this shit.

Fucking mudslimes who have been invading Japan in droves since this fucking globalist kike controlled administration came into power.

China niggers and korean faggots are also in the mix because of how much they hate Japan.

i wrote a long in depth reply to this but it got deleted when i refreshed.

here's the short version
* burakumin is 99% a solved problem. very few young people are even aware of the edo caste system. most people with burakumin ancestry are not aware of it.
* discrimination based on surname + family address was more reliable in the past, before the massive pre-war urban migration blurred the geographical boundaries between former afflicted territory and economic development. you would have to go back 80 years into someone's family register before you'd find any clues what caste they might have originated from.
* even in the 80s, discriminatory lists against burakumin was not common in tokyo. Most people in tokyo are from somewhere else.
* ancestry was a bigger deal in the past, when arranged marriages were the norm.

the lists you're talking about is 特殊部落地名総鑑 (buraku chimei soukan - compilation of village locations). it originated in the pre-war era as a record for afflicted villages that needed government focus. Even though it's censored information, anyone can just look it up, but in the end, it's just a non exhaustive list of addresses. Later on, books with more information were sold, but they have dubious accuracy.

As for the actual villages themselves, it would be almost impossible to know you were in one. Some former buraku are still economically depressed, such as san'ya in Tokyo (former execution ground), or along the river in Kawasaki (heavy industrial area), while others are completely redeveloped.

edit:
address discrimination still happens in some regions, like Kyoto, or so I'm told.

And China's also contributing to invaders by importing their shitty ass fireprone EVs to both Japan and South Korea. BYD is even making a Kei car specifically for the Japanese market, the Racco.

How long has this "open borders" BS gone on for in Japan? Since sometime after 2020?

I think that at least back in the '00s, immigrating to Japan was rather difficult...
It seems like I heard they just raised prices for visas and extended the residency time period to 10 years before obtaining permanent residency or whatever their equivalent is. Not sure what effect that would have on immigration as a whole if most of the problem people are brought in on worker visas. I dunno, maybe I should just bite the bullet and go sooner rather than later.

They were still feeling the effects of the bubble pop in the early 00s and the labor force isn't as old as it is now.

Immigrating forever still seems hard but it looks like they want a revolving cadre of workers on longterm work visas.

They're in a shit spot too because their currency sucks so anyone moving to make money comes from some shithole with an even worse economy
