God, it would be fucking incredible to see her get slapped with a libel/defamation charge after how long she's crowed about the Katie Hopkins thing. (I am neither advocating nor expecting for this to happen, just enjoying the thought.)
Just remember if you do go the legal route, don't forget to crowdfund a load of money directly to your paypal, then not actually sue, and then refuse to answer questions about it...

While I 100% understand why you personally don't see any humour in it, and are rightfully taking it seriously, I personally now have this mental image of Jack chasing you round the court with a handful of banknotes desperately trying to make you take them, possibly with some yakkety sax in the background.
The mental image of that is rather amusing, although I am ... anxious about the hearing now. I don't know what to expect from her any more, so I'm taking appropriate steps (as best I can) to mitigate any risk.

All the best ahead of the hearing. Maybe there's a court back entrance you could use to avoid being pelted with tenners on your way in. I know when I had to give evidence once, they let me come in a different way so I didn't have to come face to face with the defendant.
Having seen that a Judge recently ordered Carole Cadwalladr to pay Arron Banks, despite Cadwalladr being a 'Journalist' and Banks as 'evil Mr. Right-Wing Man', this is somewhat of a precedent set.
Judges should be concerned with the law first and not politics.

Today, I attended the court hearing at Southend County Court. Ms Monroe did not attend.
The matter will be put before a Judge for further directions and sanctions.
No advance notice, emailed court at 2pm claiming harassment.
Genuinely surprised she's gone this route. A 'muh anxiety' sick note would've given her plenty of time to throw tenners and try to avoid the financial disclosure. She appears to think the justice system is Twitter, where if you just yell something often enough to enough followers, it becomes defacto true.
I feel like the judge isn't going to be impressed with this.
Suppose you're summoned to attend court. If you are afraid, vulnerable or feel the opposing party is hostile, justifiably or not, you contact the court well in advance so they can make arrangements for your comfort and safety. In my experience, they are extremely accommodating and well-versed in difficult and emotive situations - but have little patience with liars and time wasters. You don't drop them an email on the day of hearing, at the time of hearing, alleging nebulous harassment therefore can't go.
Especially since the only party in this claim who's been engaged in harassing behaviour - releasing privileged information - is JM.
Not to mention this isn't going to be the first time the Judge will have heard that someone getting chased for money they owe has claimed the person chasing them for the money is "harassing" them.
me too, she can't claim ignorance of how courts work in general, given the katie hopkins stuff.
its the absolutely most self destructive thing she could have done. i assume she's pulled similar in the past for things that aren't a court order to attend and had an "oh poor you" responses but she's not going to get that here. she could have not attended and said nothing, but instead she has gone out of her way to piss the court off.

GBH victims and similar can stand up in court facing their attackers and reliving intenely traumatic events, but Jack can't face the mean man who wanted his tenner back.

Yes. LegalGengar posted on there for a bit, but their weird board culture drove him off and now they seethe a little about him because he didn't follow their special Jack Monroe thread rules. It's a strange Brit gossip place (like Mumsnet on tramadol), although I did like following the Philip Schofield threads because we didn't have one here and they are undeniably good at doing digging on people they dislike.

I have sent my statement to the judge. I have been told that the rest is for the court to handle now. I have nothing else to say until the court contact me about whatever happens next. Thanks for all the support.
Disappointed but not surprised Jack didn't turn up today. God she's such an up herself entitled cunt. Still, more fun and games to come.

Court is literally the safest place to be with someone "harassing" you because they can't do anything. Not only is there actual protective people but their every incentive should be not to make their case worse off. (WARNING: Incentive structure does not apply to lolcows.)
well if she has the reciepts she should have enjoyed presenting them on her day in court. along with the documented evidence of harrassment so severe she's had to leave her home on police advice. i wonder how her lawyers feel about these tweets.
in other news my elderly cat who finds any jumping difficult just made it up to sit beside me and told me she has receipts of Jack living in a mansion and being a millionare. pretty compelling evidence if we're applying the same standards Jack wants us to apply to her tweets.
