Ice Cream Cake

I have a personal vendetta against ice cream cakes. You have to wait a century for them to thaw to be able to cut through them, but when it's actually soft enough it's borderline melting, and then you're essentially eating ice cream soup with soggy cake.

One of my least favorite desserts, lol. I would much rather have a scoop of ice cream with a separate slice of cake, or on top of a warm brownie, or on top of a pie or something.

Now that I'm done being a buzzkilling asshole, good luck with the baking, and enjoy it! I know I'm in the minority when it comes to ice cream cake. Haha.

For birthdays, we usually went to the supermarket and got one of these.

I don't have any recipes on me, but if you're looking to experiment, try combining matcha and chocolate of some kind (white chocolate chips?). But you can't go wrong with java chip, or combining coffee and chocolate ice cream.

Friendly's is confined to the East Coast. Carvel is more spread out, albeit thinly, so you might find it when traveling. I looked around for a second and saw that matcha is often paired with coconut, vanilla, or red bean. Although a lot of matcha recipes are vegan, I found a chiffon/ice cream cake combination you might like. That said, Haagen-Dazs has matcha and plenty of coffee + chocolate flavors, though I don't know if they'd sell both kinds where you live. The matcha flavor may be too delicate for an ice cream cake unless you're willing to keep it simple.

I’ve seen these kinds of ice cream cakes before, they’re okay but it’s best to avoid those single-serve cups you find in the frozen deli section due to them almost always having been defrosted and refrozen.
