I really, really hate fan fiction.

Saney, It is just an extremely surreal clusterfuck of a crossover, also Milhouse as a seeker, c'mon really?

Also the team names are completely fucked, at least give the characters with established homes team names based on where they actually live.

Are you saying that Milhouse as a seeker doesn't make perfect sense?

That would require effort and creativity, and effort is haaaaard.

I forgot it's a Harry Potter crossover fic, creativity and effort just gets thrown out the window.

"So, how was it?" Marge asks.

"It was awesome, Mom!" Bart replies.

"Yeah, you might say that we've never been closer," Lisa says.

I got a creepy vibe from that ending with Bart and Lisa, I hope it doesn't turn into one of 'those' types of fic.

I'd considered doing a rewrite of Twilight, where Bella was somewhat more likable, actually wanted to bond with her dad, and had to deal with the stalker Edward.

Just didn't have the will to write it. Like I said, other things won't get written if I write fanfics. (It kinda saddens me. Not to brag, but I thought my version of Twilight had some potential.)

Honestly, I don't mind fanfics, even though 99% of all of them are crap. Yeah, some people take them way too seriously, but they can also be a good way to get into writing -- some people might be intimidated by the thought of making their own worlds and find it more comfortable to start out playing around with established characters they're already familiar with. So long as they eventually move on to original worlds and such (which doesn't happen as often as I'd like), then I don't see the problem with it.

Of course then you've got wish fulfillment and Mary Sues from 16 year olds, so it's a bit of a mixed bag.

I think the only other thing is that I've read a lot of fanfics that are simply short character studies -- and in cases where the author hasn't developed the character too much (I'm looking at you, Twilight), it can come off as quite beautiful. Even when the author's fleshed out a character, someone can come along with their own interpretation that really grabs me. You just have to be willing to dig through a bunch of crap, which not everyone will want to do.

That was actually my Nanowrimo project last year. I was in the process of rewriting the book so Bella gradually developed a relationship with her estranged father, and the whole town was completely aware of the Cullens and Blacks being supernatural beings and were just helpless mortals trapped in this complex and centuries-old battle for dominance. First year I ever won... I still need to finish it. (Which means finding the copy of Twilight I borrowed from a friend, and then returning it finally...)

I swear there is nearly everything crossed over with nearly everything right here.

I have an idea for a great Skyrim/Portal crossover fic (such a crossover is actually canon thanks to the Space Core mod). With Chell as the Dragonborn, of course.

I recently read a Banjo-Kazooie friendship/romance fic. Pure fluff, done for fun. The characters were surprisingly in character, too. I liked it for what it was.

I'm kind of one the fence about fan fan fiction. On the one hand, it's a great way for aspiring writers to get into a universe that they love, trade ideas with other fans, and just have some fun.

On the other hand, for every good piece of fanfiction that I've ever read, I've waded through ten Mary Sue insert/yaoi slash fic shit.

I remember having a conversation about Diablo 3 last night with Melchett. Diablo 3 is probably the biggest disappointment of my life. No lie, this is how people felt about the Star Wars prequels. I waited 10 years for that fucking game to come out and it was shit.

If I ever wrote fanfiction, it'd be a redo of the Diablo 3 storyline. I could spend hours going over why Diablo 3's story is terrible and sperg out about it fairly often.

Once, I thought about re-doing Resident Evil 4 as a fanfiction. I was going to make some changes that seemed obvious to me: Lord Saddler would be Lord Oswell Spencer, Krauser would've been either Nicholai Ginovaef or Wesker (I can't recall now), Ashley was going to be Sherry Birkin, and the Las Plagas was going to be a Nemesis parasite infused with the T-Veronica Virus, Mother Virus, and G-Virus. From what I recall, I had Chris, Jill and Barry infiltrating an Umbrella facility and finding something that led them to the Paris facility. Once there, they found something about Spencer's ancestral home and were forced to flee onto a zeppelin, which would crash near the village. Stuff happens, and the whole world became infected with the parasites and variations of the virus. From there, a dying Leon made it his goal to kill Spencer before the virus claimed him. Everyone died.

Now, I couldn't manage to write fanfic. I don't get as excited about other people's characters and settings as I do my own.

I dont hate spergy internet fanfiction, some of it can be funny if its shit, but if its well written or serious it just bores me.

I don't know if it counts, but there was a book i bought called "What Ho, Automaton!" It was basically fanfic of Jeeves and Wooster where Jeeves is a robot in steampunk land and shit. Dunno if it counts as fanfic because he did slightly alter their names (more for copyright reasons i think).

I'm kind of a sucker for bad fanfiction. Like this Garfield one:

“‘It is true. Look and see.’ Jon Arbuckle showed Garfield a letter that came through mail boxes.

'Dear Garfield, you are not invited to royal wedding. Sincerely Royal England Family.' Said the letter with insults.

'INVITE THIS.' Shouted Garfield as he tore up the letter with manly hands.

'This is last straw. I will not stand for insults to humanity.' Garfield cried out to the ceiling with fist clenched with justice.”

I'm actually more interested in reading bad webcomics than bad fanfiction.

And the sequels.

Strangely, I am an aspiring writer, but I am also a sucker for fan fiction. Mostly due to how insane it can be. I loathe everything about poor writing and plotting so much that I adore it. There was a time I was with a small group of friends on skype, and one of them decided to read some gem called 'Immortality in Fickle Affection'...in various DBZ style voices. His Freeza, Goku and Piccolo voices were so spot on it made a tale about Hercules(from the Disney movie) getting freaky with a Final Fantasy character(that morphed into wtf) both digestible and hilarious beyond comprehension.

Also you may not want to read it if you value your soul. It is like 'Cloud Mows the Lawn' multiplied by ten.

I'm curious and horrified at the same time.
