If you mean new-ish stuff I got fucking nothing, the last anime I watched that was any fun was one punch man, and that was a parody of other anime

A lot of people here mentions cowboy bebop, I consider bebop to be the anime evangelion wanted to be but didnt get the same recognition back home because it was too western and the protags werent highschool kids but older jaded adults. The japs are fucking obsessed with highschool because for many thats the highpoint of their lives, which for me its depressing but whatever

Also evangelion ends with "everybody can change just do it!" levels of condescending shitty life advice, meanwhile bebop ends with basically "you cant run away from your past" which is something very real that you only realize when you're not a fucking teen watching anime, but an adult with a job and responsibilities

Anyway, maybe watch the og LOGH? it looks like shit but the story is good

Última edición:
I can't believe nobody suggested gurren lagann. It's similar in tone, style, and magnitude to kill la kill (same people worked on both), has cliffhangers, and iirc has a fun soundtrack.
One punch man is also very good and I found it to have good cliffhangers despite the fact that, as the title suggests, the main character can resolve literally any and all problems. Despite this, they managed to create a lot of good tension in the show.

Última edición:
I couldnt get past the first 3 or 4 eps of lagann, dont even remember where I left it, same with killlakill

Like it was just boring to me, no built up just random shit and fanservice

The killlakill ep where the family becomes rich was kind of funny tho

the promised neverland
s1 anime is good with lots of twists n shit
s2 anime is bad get the manga instead
Wasn’t the manga ending also shit? According to my friends who’ve watched it, the best way to enjoy it is to pretend that it ends after season 1 after they escape the orphanage.

Alice to Zoruko is really underrated. Although the 3D animation in some scenes is really bad. But besides that a fairly wholesome watch.

1) watch gintama instead of one puece, its better
2) in terms of short anime i recomend combatants will be dispatched or goblin slayer or 1997 berserk

I agree with most of the recommendations from the 90s and early 00s, so I'll name a few that haven't been listed yet.

Requiem from the Darkness is a very good horror series that leans into more classical Japanese art than standard anime.

On the exact other end of that spectrum, Code Geass is a flawed, but generally interesting political thriller mecha show.
I personally liked Blood+ when I was a teen, but I'm pretty sure it's because I like the aria more than the show itself.
Macross Plus is quite possibly my favorite movie too, but it has to be the movie edition and not the 4 part miniseries because the score is different. The miniseries has a lot of... how do I put it... temp tracks in it. They're not precisely temp tracks since these songs did make it into the OST, but they do act as placeholders when compared to the movie version, which has songs scored for specific scenes.

Miniseries score: Break Out
Movie Edition score: Dogfight

Another example is how overused Myung's theme is in the mini series version. It's a good song, but there's one romantic scene where More than 3cm works better for the scene.

I haven't kept up with more recent shows. I tried Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and I just couldn't get into it. My impression is that too many shows are like Sword Art Online where it's 1) written by an Otaku and 2) is an inferior version to the .hack series anyways.

I'm bad at suggestions because I've only watched shit everybody has already seen, like Death Note. Speaking of which, Platinum End seems to be flying under radars a bit, but it's good.

Go through Demolition D+’s channel. He has some good recommendations and shit that he watched because. Patlabor is pretty good, OVA series is better quality. The movies are weirdly canon.
