Backrooms was pretty good. Little slow in the beginning, little too therapy-y overall, but Kane is a competent storyteller. Keeping the final monster hidden for the majority of the film really helped it shine in the end, akin to Jaws.

Obsession was notably worse. Wouldn't watch it again, but I wouldn't feel all that bad if I'd paid to see it either. The actress did a really good job, the actor sucked. I found myself thinking that the guy who made it would be better off trying to do something more comedic, because the funny parts hit way better than the scary ones.

While it's understandable to have personal preferences regarding the Terrifier films or to consider Art the Clown overrated, the argument that Art the Clown lacks popularity and that his prominence is solely due to marketing tactics is unfounded. Art the Clown is arguably one of the most popular modern slasher characters. He has appeared in as many video games and has his own video game titles comparable to those of many 1980s slasher icons. His reception has been notably enthusiastic, comparable to the excitement generated when Jason was announced for Dead by Daylight.

I won't weigh in too much on Obsession, but in regard to the position being taken by some people on it, including people who constantly harp on about "media literacy" that "ugh, he stripped away her autonomy, this guy is the real villain" - well as someone put it these people would read W.W. Jacobs' "The Monkey’s Paw" and think the parents deliberately chose to turn their son into a zombie.

Widow’s Bay finale was super underwhelming seasonbate :(

(I’ll still watch that shit)
Haven’t watched it yet, but as I said earlier in the thread, there was no way for them to satisfyingly conclude the entire story with one episode left with so many balls in the air.

Thankfully it’s already renewed for the next season and hopefully they know not to overstay their welcome. Should be two and done.

I agree, I’m happy it’s still going. Matt R is a great actor I just wish they would have shown a little more skin this season, if you know what I mean.

Stranger Things has been announced for HHN Orlando and I am so fucking tired of this nostalgiabait slop show being everywhere. Please let it die.

My first guess was that Netflix is desperate to ride the ST hype as long as they can and they paid handsomely for Universal to include ST in their event this year. But that's not how it works; Universal is the one who pays for the right to use non-Universal IPs in their event. Perhaps the ST house was popular in 2023? Maybe they think it will sell a lot of HHN merch? There was a live-action spinoff announced earlier this year, maybe they hope to drum up interest for that? IDK man I'm genuinely baffled.

Listen, I have a runnin' theory that someone in Europe found the actual Monkey Paw a decade and a half ago.

UGH, more kids getting penetrated. The only thing Stranger Things proved is that if you orally rape a kid they turn out gay.

ST house was popular in 2023
Little inside baseball, 2024 Six Flags acquired the Stranger Things IP along with their other IP houses. I can tell you one thing, it performed poorly based on online comments and visiting multiple parks. Saw on social media that a popular IP house had been completely torn out. The fact this house is back at Universal tells me, there are no more IP houses at Six Flags; at least not Stranger Things and Conjuring.

That is interesting. We can expect 2 or 3 more popular IPs to be announced for HHN, and I'm hoping they impress. The two announced (Sinners and Stranger Things) hardly inspire excitement.

I still think Sinners would work better as a dinner show
tbh they're sorta setting themselves up for disappointment. I seriously doubt we're going (we _have_ finally gone to Uni so it's a lot less impossible) but if I was going through a Sinners house and they didn't have a good three dozen extras MINIMUM rocking out for the music scenes it would fall flat
like, there are enough big open areas around the houses' warehouses you probably could let people out into a massive field of riverdancing vampires but the logistics would be challenging to say the least

I watched The Terror: Devil in Silver yesterday. I’d say it’s probably hovering between 8 to 8.5 out of 10 on average. The very ending is a little bit meh, but at the same time, it was more about the characters and shit versus a satisfying conclusion so it doesn’t drag it down. It’s definitely worth a watch. It’s just sad that it doesn’t live up to its highs because there were moments in the middle I would have easily called it a 9 or 9.5 out of 10. It just kind of lost some steam. With 6 episodes, it’s not such a huge deal. Definitely worth a watch.

Want opinions before I go see the films: What are people's thoughts on the terrifier franchise? I've heard a lot of voices these days talking about how its femicical slop on par with lucifer valentine (ie: slaughtered vomit doll series) films and I'd rather not spend any time or money on that sort of thing since its just... slop. On the other hand, the clown is a fairly popular slasher- met a plumber guy who had a sleeve tattoo with that little freak's face on it. I'd love to hear.

In the meantime, here's one for you guys if you like burning your finite time in this world: Watched Ebola Syndrome and I hated that shit. More of a cheap comedy film than any actual horror. Fat chinese man rapes and kills and rapes and kills and then goes to africa and rapes naked negresses and kills them and then gets ebola from raping their corpses, goes back to china, and rapes and kills some more. Whole film is done in this weirdly dissonant high-pitched chinese voice-over which is a cherry on top.

I turned off Terrifier, and I'm not one to quit on films. It's not even gross, it's just shitty, cheap crap.

Send Help is such a thoroughly loathsome movie and I regret that I wasted my time watching it.
There is the kernel of a good idea there. A story about two corporate sociopaths duking it out to control a deserted shithole island could have been fun. But nah. Its just torture porn for HR hag women. Its supposed to be empowering (i think) but most of the plot is about a bpd maniac woman torturing and killing a weak and helpless crippled dude for the crime of being kind of scummy. How is tormenting someone weaker than you supposed to be seen as cool and empowering? I have no fucking clue. The slackjawed normie sadists ate it up though.

It's been discussed at length in this thread. Art himself is fun but the movies are shit and the plot gets more retarded with each installment. It's also inarguable that there's a distinct bent towards showing women getting tortured and maimed vs men, although I think it gets less and less egregious with each film.

If you think it's supposed to be empowering for women you're a fucking retard. Their both shitty people who deserve what they do to each other. That's why it's a black comedy (like more of Raimi's films) and not a straight horror or thriller.
Bradley is a narcissistic, silver spoon piece of shit who enjoys messing with Linda's livelihood and humiliating her in front of a group because he thinks she's a weird nerd. He is a cheater and tries to dangle the promise of a job over women's heads for sexual favors. He lies to Linda about the possibility of a promotion so that he can get her to write a report that he will take total credit for.

Bradley is also far from "a helpless cripple;" he is more than happy to be waited on hand and foot and after an initial half-assed thanks for saving his life, he quickly begins complaining and criticizing Linda's care of him. He only is contrite to her during moments where he realizes that without her help he is totally fucked. These moments are short-lived and he always reverts to bitching and moaning while she provides for his every single need.

Bradley is able-bodied by about the halfway point of the film yet still does basically nothing to contribute to their survival. What's especially funny is that if he wasn't such a slothful ass, he could have started exploring the island and would have found the vacation home and been saved. Literally no excuse because he even was becoming suspicious of Linda at that point.

Even when he suspects that Linda is deliberately keeping them there, he never really tries to actually talk to her and persuade her to get them home. He always reverts to insulting and belittling her like a fucking retard. Yeah, let's antagonize the lunatic who might be sabotaging rescue efforts, that will go well. Because Bradley is so spoiled, he can't fathom having to negotiate or work with someone dangerous or unpleasant and so he is completely unable to. He's such a limpwristed, soy filled bitch that even in a head-to-head fight with Linda, he can't overpower her. At every turn he makes the worst possible decisions.

Linda's thriving at the end because she adopted some of Bradley's characteristics. She embraces Bradley's sociopathic qualities and stitches them onto her own personality and grifts off her version of their misadventure. Hilarious.

What's it gonna be, white man.
  • Backrooms Son who is extremely autistic and is barely functional in a public setting (plus probably has some degen DeviantArt-tier fetish shit locked away in his phone) but knows everything about the lore of both the Kane Pixels' series and the Backrooms wiki. Watches 10+ hour Wendigoon video essays like its nothing and complains when a detail is wrong.
  • Obsession Daughter who suffers from an extreme case of BPD and entitlement. Mugshot was posted on @mugshawtys on X and garnered over 100K likes from Indians. Has an Instagram and TikTok where her inadvertently posts fuel the 'gender war' and become the topic-of-the-day for Manosphere podcast episodes. Has been featured in Redscarepod.
