I should have verified shit coming from X. It does seem like they have crazy amount of health for no reason though.
Really you should verify shit coming from twitter in general. Ever since Musk introduce revenue for engagement, it has been nothing but engagement bait that has plenty of people just spouting nonsense and wrong infomation just for money.
Campaign Evolved admittedly doesn't look that bad despite some questionable art design decisions like the new needler UI, but I don't think it's going to do well simply because its existence wasn't necessary.
The one positive thing out of the light few I like Is that I can say that there is art design decisions for the environments that look good but yea some of them are just outright baffling. The needler being the prime example.
Yup, at least that's what google and most people who played the game pre-launch are saying.

So they make an entire new engine derivied from the previous game engines that was used in the series for Infinite and than decided to shaft it completely for an UE5 graphical layer with the original Blam engine? The fuck is going on here. You have an entire studio backed by Microsoft and there are game engines that have been developed by far smaller scale of teams and money. Fuck me how much time and money did they spend on the Slipspace engine just to throw it away later.
i just don't remember plasma doing enough to kill enemies after downing shields

and the only way to defeat a legendary sniper is to be one
They were never good at killing off enemies or players once the shields are down as a way to balance how deadly they are against shields. But because you either have to swap weaopns, duel wield a ballistic weapon with it or use throwables along with it's poor projectile speed compared to the likes of the Battle Rifle, it's never really a good thing to use.

Except the Plasma pistol has proper uses that make it worth it but the Plasma Rifle just sucks in general. The fact that you can tap the plasma pistol to have it have a higher fire rate over the Plasma rifle (till it's near overhaated) makes it just overall better to use.

Really you would think they would add a switch to the Plasma rifle were you can have it fire a lot faster at the cost of it overheating quickly or do something with it to make it worth using. Instead they just introduce a red version of it that is slightly better.
I always wished they reworked Warzone in Infinite or something as a 4-8 player team vs the NPC bosses.
You want them to incorporate a thing that people actually like? Are you insane?! You will have your expensive remake slop with no replayablity and enjoy it!
Someone fixed the final cutscene

Microsoft Sam Master Chief will never not make me giggle. God that's almost two decades now since Arby n Chief.

According to Circana's Player Engagement Tracker, on July 28th,
Halo: Campaign Evolved ranked:

14th on Steam (2% of total actives)
29th on PlayStation (1% of total actives)

A buddy of mine pre-ordered it even though me and some others warned him that its probably gonna be shit. I went to his place just to watch him play it and seeing his face changed from nostalgia, enthusiasm and hope to despair, confusion and disappointment was the funniest shit ever to the point i recorded it and in the video you can pinpoint the moment the last shred of hope leaves his body. Mind you he is a hardcore halo fan. I think this will be the only halo entry where he wont do a LASO run. Halo's future is looking grim for its fans.

Halo Reach wouldve been top 5 if it released on Playstation
Even Halo Infinite probably wouldve been top 10

Not fucking embarrassing at all to degrade and rape your supposed flagship mascot for years, and when it's finally half-dead you parade it around the town like a cheap whore, offering it to anyone and everyone but not even the fucking bums want to touch it

All 343 employees should start hitting themselves in the head with sharp objects, as a blood sacrifice for daddy Microsoft, to buy more time (20 years and 3 more Halo games) for their studio

Truth supernova. MCC utterly fails to preserve the original experiences even after the graphical fixes to CE and 2. None of the kino menus, none of the great lobbies, and the progression system kind of fucking sucks. Imagine making Halo cosmetics into a fucking BUCKET LIST or chore.

Y'all wanna hear the actual part that made me decide against buying this day one?

Reach Animations.

I don't actually mind games reusing assets. I even encourage it, if you made a good thing, make a couple games with it, that's fine. My problem is with mindless/low quality asset reuse. The entire point of Campaign evolved was to trial out the whole development pipeline, they went ahead and put together all these technically excellent models (won't try to argue styles, I prefer 2/3) and then slap decade old animations onto them, that weren't even designed for those models? Fucking lazy is what it is, and defeats the whole purpose of the exercise. Its the same kind of sloppy as using the Reach AI for a game who's design and encounters are very much not balanced around it. But unlike AI, which is notoriously difficult in general and somewhat excusable for a new team to salvage, Animation is fairly easy. We're talking professionals rigging models they fully control, with tools almost two decades better than the old rigs could be done with. The fact they didn't fucking bother even at that level was a bigger red flag to me than anything else we saw.

Unironically, 343/Halo Studios is incompetent. Put aside the engine wobbling, and look at what they actually produce. The only 343 project that has ever felt like it had good gameplay held back by a struggling technology layer is MCC, and that's because its not even their fucking gameplay, its a passover layer they fucked up. Halo 4, 5, Infinite, and now Campaign Evolved, all of them are fundamentally sterile, poor designs and poor narratives.

They blame the technology because executives can't tell the difference, and its good cover for the rest of the teams sucking ass when the technical team is also struggling. They become the meatshield that guards the writers from the consequences of bad writing - don't need an engine feature to write sane dialog, but they hide under it all the same.

Not happening. I'd bet good money that Asha's gonna see the flop of Campaign Evolved, go "Well that didn't work, you guys haven't worked", and do what she just did to Bethesda, and what I'm pretty sure she'll be doing to the Coalition after November - forcing them to open their franchises to wider development pools than just themselves. She's got solid evidence to point to that it'll work, with the entire way the Call of Duty team operates, Halo Wars, and even over on the Gears side with Gears Tactics. Large and small games, by different teams exploring other aspects of the universe, which she only partially cares about, what she really wants is a high tempo release cadence, and the monolith model can't deliver that anymore. Gone are the days of a studio making a full game in 2-3 years. We've also seen that more devs doesn't speed up any individual project. So, the answers been clear for years, more projects. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Campaign Evolved's flop convinced Asha to hand over the Halo 2 remake (we know its gonna happen) to a different studio - not another internal hand forge. She'll task 343/Halo Studios with making a new flagship successor to Infinite that they can hang themselves from.

It'll probably work too. There's no shortage of designers who understand Halos core loop, no shortage of writers who can work in the core themes of the universe. 343/Halo Studios just deliberately selected against them.

You should upload it to YouTube and frame it as some 2000s video and then cut to a nostalgic compilation like Crowbcat did. Shit could go viral and start a new hate campaign against 343 (halo studios).

You can't kill women in Halo remaster
From what I've seen in that scene, the men are coded as NPCs, and the women are coded as static objects. There's probably a joke in there somewhere.

Jaime Griesemer, the game designer behind the Pillar of Autumn mission in Halo: Combat Evolved and also one of the head gameplay designers for the Halo games and Destiny 1, has hypothesized that the reason why the women were invincible was most likely damage transfer not being set up since the women are all new models.

The developers at 343/Halo Studios assumed that the "vehicle" chair which was used as the seating worked for all character models when it only works for specific models, a.k.a. the (male) marines from Halo: Combat Evolved. As a result, they never set up damage transfer for new model NPCs when they sit in those "vehicle" chairs. It also implies the male marines in the Halo demake were assets taken from CE.

After some time when it turned out that the person responsible for the video was faking outrage, Griesemer states his hypothesis is incorrect. He concludes that the developers at 343 screwed up setting up the member ids, which he states is a easy mistake for a developer to make. So the blame is not make women girlboss but rather saar contractors.

People hated his reasoning and attacked Griesemer to what amounts as a shill or a low-skill developer for 343 because he thinks the theory that the 343's intention to make women invincible in the game for political reasons is retarded. It is to note that Griesemer never joined 343 after he left Bungie in 2010.

Gotta love it when your side is co-opted by niggers.

I think it is to note that Griesemer is also almost as right-wing as Marty O'Donnell. His recent Xeets were stating that Fauci is a criminal during the Senate hearings.

Griesemer is also the director of Highwire Games which is stuck in development hell making Six Days in Fallujah.

In Halo: Combat Evolved, it apparently stunned you when you were hit with it. It slowed you down massively when you were hit with it's shots.
You are correct. In the true and honest Halo Combat Evolved the Plasma Rifle and Plasma Pistol are insanely overpowered, the stun effect is a huge reason why. But some other benefits of the plasma pistol and rifle is that they are also everywhere in campaign and in Halo CE they do full damage to Flood and the backs of Hunters.

Bungie would proceed to nerf the fuck out of the plasma rifle, plasma pistol, magnum and shotgun because of how versatile and powerful those weapons were in CE.

I remember being a retarded kid not using the plasma rifle or pistol cus "alien guns are gay" and I liked how powerful the human weapons sounded XD. Imagine my surprise learning that I was playing unoptimally

My brother and I were so pissed when Halo 2 made us play as aliens. I didn't fully appreciate that game until a few years later when I replayed it in anticipation of Halo 3.
Arbiter has some of the most beautiful atmospheric missions in Halo 2. My favorite is probably the snowy halo ring cause of the music. Fuck the remaster though.

One of the most beautiful snowy tracks in the series. In gaming.
Almost makes me cry.

It's not just Halo, they have destroyed every IP that was labeled as "dudebro" by the gamejournos.
Now they have countless IPs and a console for no audience.
Basically, yes. I get the feeling that these people didn't see the fact that they got jobs to do Halo as a benefit or a gig. It's almost like a burden for them. Like they hate it. They hate what Halo was. They hate Master Chief.

They can't just do what good mercenary game devs do, like what NetEase Games did with Marvel Rivals. The Chinese devs at NetEase asked themselves "how can we best pilfer the wallets of Marvel fans?" and they realized that by making the Marvel characters sexy and strong, the Marvel fans' money would flow. And flow it did, when Marvel fans fell for gooner bait like the Marvel Rivals' versions of Sue Storm and Emma Frost, or the masculine male heroes like Wolverine and Reed Richards.

If that was the mentality of 343 Games, you'd have Halo games made by people who love Halo, who keep it the way it was, or they make changes that the fans demand. Kind of like how the devs working on Jedi Academy listened to the fans who played Jedi Outcast and added double-bladed lightsabers and Force power customization for the main campaign. You'd have devs who at least know what Halo fans want, and they give the Halo fans what they ask for. No pandering to CoD, no story retcons that fuck with the story of the first three games, no lecturing the main hero about how he's just a PR stunt in fancy armor (this in an era where Spartan 2s and 3s have also died for the UNSC in droves).

Maybe you'd get a campaign about Sergeant Johnson or other Spartan teams that take place during the meat of the Human-Covenant War. Maybe you get to play as Atriox as he tears the Covenant a new asshole to breathe out of. Maybe you get to play as a rising Thel Vadamee as he works his way from local noble to commander of a fleet. Maybe you get to play the campaigns of past Arbiters as they tamed the Hunters and stopped the Grunt Rebellion. Maybe you get to play as a Brute chieftain tasked by the Prophets to go full Order 66 and kill the Sangheili Councilors at the eve of the Covenant Civil War. The possibilities were endless.

Instead, they remake the first Halo campaign again. As if they haven't done this already back in 2011. And in the much-anticipated bonus levels, they add in a badass marine you're supposed to care about, who puts Chief down as if he's a scrub in fancy armor, who's good for nothing but PR. Nothing says "I love working in this franchise" more than some person's self-insert trashing the main hero of the entire franchise while being made to look badass.

Shadows of the Empire introduced Dash Rendar, who showed respect to Han Solo. The Dark Forces games introduced Kyle Katarn, who showed deference to Mon Mothma and Luke Skywalker. You can make OCs in an established franchise that don't act like shit and don't put down the main hero.

But oh, I can already hear the other side talking, "ODSTs are supposed to hate Spartans!" Since when? ODSTs in Halos 2 and 3 act just like other marines and are grateful for Chief's support. We had an entire game about ODSTs and not once did anyone say anything about Spartans. Not even when their commanding officer showed up wearing a Recon Spartan helmet.

The one ODST who hated Spartans in the books was Major Antonio Silvia, and he hated Chief because the latter killed some of his men in a practice sparring match by accident. So at least he has a decent reason for shitting on Spartans, because he loved his men, and he hated the Spartans because one of them killed his guys. It wasn't simple prejudice, but him wanting justice for the men Chief accidentally killed while sparring.

Even in the Halo Legends anime episode, "Babysitter", where a bunch of ODSTs work with a Spartan, they showed no overt signs of hating the woman. One of them was a bit miffed with her, but he kept it to himself, while the others kept their yap shut. They were professional soldiers, and they kept their attitudes about the Spartan, be it positive or negative, under control, because they had a mission to accomplish. Later, after the mission was over, and the Spartan was killed in action, when someone insulted the Spartan for getting ambushed like a noob, the ODSTs get mad at the guy for demeaning a fellow warrior who died for the cause.

What reason does Williams have for shitting on John? Did he kill some of her men, too? Did a Spartan steal her kill once and steal the glory? Did a Spartan kill one of her friends? It just feels like it came from nowhere because we got to play as ODSTs and see how they were like, and none of them bitched at Chief the way Williams did. This is why Williams feels so out of place. Especially since she just got out of enemy captivity; no veteran would let their grudges control them when they're in hostile territory. It would've made more sense if she said something like "usually I'm not a big fan of you Spartans, but you're human, and I'm more than happy to have your help in a place like this." Then she sees Chief kick ass, and she says "fuck, I thought it was all propaganda, you guys really are as good as they say!"

That would've worked better, be more realistic, while also showing that the ODSTs have some friction with the Spartans, but they're professional soldiers who won't start bitching about their comrades in the middle of a mission. Because that is fucking unprofessional.

How this woman made lieutenant in one of the most elite outfits in the UNSC boggles my mind, especially if she has the kind of attitude that leads her to lash out at a comrade who's come to help her. My guess is, if we're being realistic here, she probably slept with someone to get that post. Or she had a friend who pulled some favors for her to get a higher rank. That'd be a good explanation as to how she got captured. She was promoted past her ability, and she got her people captured as a result.

But to be real, she's just your modern writer's idea of a badass bitch soldier, and they wanted to knock Chief down a peg for not being one of the plebs. Hence why she bitches that regular Marines used to be the heart and soul of the UNSC before the Spartans showed up. Just the way she talks betrays the intent of the people who wrote her dialogue. It's basically Garth Ennis-style whining about superheroes overshadowing regular soldiers, coming from the mouth of an annoying girlboss, parading as a professional soldier, except without the professionalism of one. Either one would be annoying enough on its own, combining the two is like making a nuclear bomb of annoyance.
