If you want ambitious AAA projects to exist, they need to make money. I’m not a GTA fan exactly and probably won’t be buying the $100 version on day one, but I want there to be space in the industry to do huge, ambitious projects.

Considering big release games in 1995 cost $50, and adjusted for inflation that’s about $110 now, and on top of that this is the most expensive development for any game in history, I’d say you’re getting a deal. I’m surprised the base price isn’t $100 tbh.
GTA6 took 13 years because Rockstar got too much money and didn't want to compete with themselves by undercutting their GTA5 micro transactions. They have a monopoly on cattle that gives them so much revenue that it means they have no incentive to build new games. Do you know what games cost to distribute in 1995? Do you know how big the market was? Do you remember when you got an actual physical copy of a finished game instead of a download key?

If you want ambitious AAA projects to exist, they need to make money.
You'd have a point if people were asking for the game to be free instead of expecting to pay a specific amount. Games are a luxury good and the entire game dev industry could burn to the ground and people would find new hobbies. How many hundreds of millions did they spend on advertising just to conclude they've saturated the market and need to raise prices to make their money back?

But then again, maybe I'm just old and done with this gay ass hobby.
I figure it's like with music. You reach a certain age and usually just sit around listening to the shit you listened to when you were coming of age. I barely play new games. There's a ton of shit I missed 20 years ago that I'm loving running through. GTA6 can fuck off.

Ill just wait 4 more years to buy this for $10 during a Steam summer Sale, play the first mission, and completely forget about it

Nigga how does something "look" like it justifies that high of a price tag when we have seen literally no real gameplay demo? If there was any justice in the world this is where their "marketing strategy" would bite them in the dick but I guess there are plenty of retards with money who are more than happy to preorder a $80 game based on a mashup of cutscene footage. That's like preordering an Assassins Creed slop game just based on the cinematic trailer.
Fucking wording biting me in the ass... Already explained to the other guy that my assumptions are based on talking with people who have technical knowledge of how Rockstar makes their games, so I know that there is a significant technical leap here. I'd go in length about it but I don't feel like writing a wall of text just for the answer to be "lol goyim." Also, does the game only counts as real if I see a character walking in a 3D environment? Nothing can be assumed from this promotional material? I guess Take Two are dumping billions of dollars into the next Mixtape. I don't even have a PS5, I'm not buying this until I have taken care of other financial needs, but thanks for making assumptions.
Apples and oranges. GTA V had like 3 vehicles locked behind the preorder and you got a couple of the weapons that were already in the game but got them for free. RDR2 had a player mission and a horse.
Apples and apples. None of this explains why the pre-order bonuses are bad this time around.
This is more like if you could only use the Valentine gun shop in RDR2 if you preordered or could only access Franklins mansion in GTA V after preordering, which is so laughably greed oriented it could only have been thought up by a desert tribal descendant.
That's the best point you made.

>retards are pre-ordering a digital only game absent any gameplay demos 5 months in advance

Even though it makes no difference and they have no clue as to what they're purchasing, they simply need that dopamine hit from securing an IOU.

Goyim truly are non-human, and deserve to be enslaved.

Does anybody know the name of the mod/patch that fixes the PC version of GTA 4?
I wanted to play the GTA4 again but I wanted it with all the fixes.
Think it's these from the last time I played.

FusionFix
Fixes the core framework that fixes physics tied to high framerates, repairs cutscene glitches, and modernizes rendering.

Zolinka patch
general-purpose plugin that fixes missing music, vehicle texture limits, and scripting issues.

The caveat nobody is paying attention to is that GTA VI is the only game in modern history that looks like it has earned the $80 price tag. Everything they have shown is miles ahead of any other game developer.
Key word: shown. Video games are meant to be interactive, not just to gawk at. The Order: 1886 was arguably the best looking PS4 title yet at the time. However, it launched at $60 with a linear, six hour campaign where a third of that was just cutscenes. MGS:V launched piecemeal where Ground Zeros only had ONE story mission and a couple side missions for $40. It was basically a priced demo for what was offered compared to The Phantom Pain.

The $80 price tag itself for GTA VI isn't the point of contention; it was heavily speculated that it would not be $70 thanks to the new pricing standard that Take Two introduced themselves for video games. The issue is how they're justifying that $80/$100 price point.

As for what you got for the extra 20 bucks in the Ultimate Edition, since nobody is posting it: One property that includes an offroad muscle car, one retro sports car, one motorcycle, one boat, one tuned variant of Jason's truck, access to two specific car mod shops, access to one specific clothing store, access to one specific tattoo parlor, access to a series of "barn find" missions (finding and restoring abandoned cars), a revolver, two gun skins, access to a mission that allows you to rob some sort of gang compound, Vice City themed clothing, and some other uninteresting clothes.
Pay attention to the bolded part. They're charging $20 for single player customization. More than that, one of those car mod shops is showcased in the first trailer. I'm sure all this content they're gatekeeping is integral into the world and base game itself.

Let's go back to GTA: San Andreas to see why this is a big deal. San Andreas included vehicle and player customization in-game through natural progression as new features within the game itself. GTA V also had that included in its single player without any additional paywalls.

There was a concept called "on-disc" DLC during the seventh generation where some games had content included in the disc proper, but was inexplicably inaccessible without paying extra. Capcom was a proponent for that practice by blocking access to 12 characters from Street Fighter X Tekken despite them being internally completely in game.

This is essentially a return to that practice. That content is already in the game, yet Rockstar thinks that warrants an additional $20 on top of having no ability for consumers to return or resell VI. Rockstar

TLDR:

Rockstar is taking content from the base game and reselling it to consumers as "extra" when said features were included in prior entries.
