Starting preorders without dropping a new trailer is a very kike move. I don't care about 60 screenshots of posing protagonists that look like they're from NYFW.
By this point, nobody needs a new trailer for a GTA game, you know exactly what to expect and whether you want it or not. It isn't like much changes from one entry to the next after III.

It's hard to believe but they were gentle on the right with tongue in cheek jokes.
Vice City did have Alex Shrub, a Republican politician that wanted to be called "Martha" by a pornstar.

Shocking that of all people the upstanding citizens of Haiti chimped out.
Won't somebody think of the good reputation of Haitians?

In retrospect, I have to laugh at that controversy since it was a niche Haitian organization that caused enough of an uproar for Rockstar to respond as such.

However, New York City’s Haitian-American community, which has seen several of its members shot by police in recent years, appealed to Mayor Michael Bloomberg to take action against Take-Two, which is headquartered in the city.

Well, whose fault is that?

Anyway, Take Two's original apology response to that was well-crafted and appropriate. Here are some snippets of that that I want to highlight. Emphasis mine.

As its name implies, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is a virtual crime world, in which characters are involved in criminal activities, including fictional gang warfare between rival groups.

In addition, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is "M" rated; it is not intended for sale to under-17 audiences. Contrary to what some may believe, it must be recognized that video games have evolved as an adult medium, not unlike literature, movies and music. The fact that the game is popular does not mean that it will encourage players to act out hatred or violence against any group or persons in the "real world." Certainly, this is not our intent, nor is it the effect of the game.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was released in October 2002. We believe that recent media coverage has taken certain statements made in the game out of context, and has blown it out of proportion by mischaracterizing the nature of the game play, as well as the actual portrayal of persons and groups in the game.

The censorship then occurred with reprints when then-current NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg threatened legal action against Take Two/Rockstar. There you go, just threaten to sue to get what you want.

i'm glad 20 pages have been wasted on the same culture war talking points that have been argued to death for a decade by people who say they hate the game, want nothing to do with it, and aren't interested in the series.

personally, i'm looking forward to the nail salons and the effect Lucia will have for online. the customization for women characters in 5 was so limited because it was tacked on with no base game application. i hate trying to get pink make-up that doesn't look like a drag queen, and the restricted layering makes outfits feel so lifeless.

Última edición:
I keep looking at GTA VIs logo and thinking "is that troon colors". Next to whatever that fucking weird ass design Sony went with with the PS5 its hard to tell
I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that color scheme is meant to A) illustrate how vibrant sunsets can be, and B) harken back towards the neon obsessed landscape the original Vice City provided in Ocean Beach.

Yep. That's outrage culture for you. Best I can do is respond pragmatically, then disengage if the discussion is just running in circles. I'd suggest you'd do the same for your sake.
