What is it with voice actors in Glitch sounding so unpleasant? I think it's not the cast, but the direction. Dolphin's voice is literally broken glass to my ears. And somebody deliberately told the va to sound like this. Just why?

voice acting in their robot show is even more insufferable

do you think it's direction or actors themselves?

A little from Column A, a little from column B. The voice actors only know gag voices or anime dub voices, so their range is weak as hell, and the directors only consume that sort of content.
Yeah, I bet they tell them "make it sound like anime dub" or something. I just don't get it.

A lot of international dubs are much better than the original, because they don't try to sound UwU

I don't know about you, but to me this means the hype for Gaslight District is officially dead.

However, the few people who remain in the Gaslight fandom are not jealous compared to KoG. Most are neutral about this.

It's very likely that Glitch will now prioritize Gameoverse over Gaslight and KoG.

I would genuienly be shocked if their is a voice director other than Ross giving notes if he doesn't like something. But its also not just GV thing as you said, TADC is genuienly painful to listen to sometimes, same with Murder Drones. Unironically sounds like thye took 1 take.

GD fans have simply accepted their fate.

The Glitch Inn Files

Part 1: The Amazing Digital Circus
Part 2: Murder Drones

Murder Drones, created by the one and only Liam Vickers, also has a plethora of content dedicated to it from Glitch Inn. Like in part 1, you'll find the full collection of MD-related content in the attachments. Here are the highlights:

Originally, the characters in MD were small toy robots with their designs influenced by stop-motion aesthetics and old-school metallic toys. They wouldn't have any human features such as hair or clothes, unlike the later drones. This toy aesthetic got abandoned early on.

2.webp1.webp

The story originally was going to focus on N and V, and the worker drones would be just background characters. The hair and clothing were added because they realized the characters need to be more distinguishable instead of looking exactly the same. This addition inspired Liam and led him to the creation of Uzi.

An idea they experimented with is making the murder drones look like angels. They would've had a halo that also could be used as a display interface. As the design for murder drones got more complicated in other areas, the halo and angel idea got scrapped, as, according to Liam, it would've been overkill.

5.webp
J was originally a male and was created to act as a foil for N. Because the J's original design looked too similar to N's, they decided to turn J into a female.

1.webp

The first iteration of the female design was changed because it looked too similar to a Meta Runner character named Evelyn (literally who?).

2.webp3.webp

4.webp

11.webp

Liam also made a short comic about this.

Liam storyboarded the entire pilot episode, all 24 minutes of it.

Few minutes of the storyboard:
Liam has also made pages detailing the personalities of the characters in his storyboard guide.

1.png2.png3.png4.png5.png6.webp
Liam has drawn what a worker drone should look like on the inside. He purposefully designed them to be similar to humans so their deaths would be more gruesome. Due to Unreal Engine being a piece of garbage, they had to resort to simply cutting off limbs for depicting deaths rather than showing internal components going all over the place.

When oil has a black color, it's most likely crude oil, used oil, or a black dyeing agent has been added to it.

Using crude oil on an exoplanet would be a logistical nightmare. While there are hydrocarbons that can form abiogenically in large quantities, like how there are seas of liquid ethane on Titan, one of Saturn's moons, Earth's crude oil has a lot of heavier organic compounds that you won't find anywhere else in the galaxy, assuming carbon-based life has only developed on Earth. We also have a very limited amount of crude oil on Earth, which we would definitely run out of by the 31st century. On the other hand, we could still use plant oils, lighter hydrocarbons imported from other planets, and synthetic products made from them.

The idea of using used oil as a coolant would also be a terrible one. It's worse at transferring heat and very dangerous to electronics, unlike fresh oil.

This leaves us with the third option; they put black dye in the oil. Most oils that are used as a coolant are either clear or have a yellow tint.

At this point, I'm just making up excuses for them.

My conclusion is that no one working at Glitch knows anything about basic chemistry, stuff that most adults are supposed to know and do know. Did no one ask the question of why drones would use black crude oil when their cars use yellow gasoline and yellow engine oil? Has anyone at Glitch ever looked inside of a car?

Liam has also created a kill counter for the pilot to make the animators' job easier. It includes information about who dies and how. The killed drones also had names given to them.

We have a floorplan for the 1st floor of the Elliot Manor:

Tessa and the humans originally had no eyes.

Eyes were added later to make them more expressive. Liam also considered adding a mouth when he first attempted adding facial features to them.

Because Unreal Engine sucks, the animators made the eyes 3D as a temporary solution in the pilot episode. The rest of the series uses 2D eyes. This is why they look different.

Sentinel drones were originally meant to be floating orbs with cameras attached to them. A 3D artist asked Liam if they could add dinosaurs to the series, which inspired Liam to turn the sentinel drones from floating orbs into dinosaurs.

Existing maps and assets from UE's marketplace are often used for making episodes.
Uzi's beanie originally had an X on it and didn't have any stripes. Liam also experimented with other designs for her beanie. The X was cut, as the design didn't work in Unreal Engine. Some of the alternate designs were reused as stickers for her railway gun.

1.webp2.webp

In the first concept art of Uzi, she also had a neckerchief and tassel pom-poms on her boots. These were also cut due to restraints.

3.webp

The neckerchief was replaced with a choker, which was also designed before the episode 4 plot was written.

This early version of it can be seen in this concept art:
4.webp

The bandages on Uzi's eye were meant to be a permanent addition. Liam, after reviewing some scenes in the pilot, thought the bandages covering one of her eyes made it harder to read her expressions, thus they were removed.

Concept art of Nori; she originally had two bangs on her hair instead of one:
5.webp

The reason Uzi put an emblem on N's hat in episode 2 because Liam thought N had to have a cool emblem on his hat.

6.webp

Drones were originally meant to have gas/oxygen tanks attached to them. Liam initially thought drones would need oxygen, but he realized robots don't need oxygen, and the idea got cut.

8.webp

Khan was the original villain of the show and had a cracked visor.

9.webp

This is one of the biggest downgrades I've ever seen in my life. Look how they massacred my boy; they turned this badass motherfucker into a soycuck who happens to worship doors instead of Funko Pops.

The concept art version of Khan looks like he would have no problem executing N the moment he sees him and then unceremoniously throwing his dead body into a dumpster; the Khan we got would unironically ask his daughter's boyfriend's permission to buy himself a new door.

Even the post on the website says, "He was actually the original villain of the show but shortly changed to a cosmic horror that’s 10000000x worse you all know and love." 10000000x worse indeed, Liam, you fucked it up.
Episode 2 was written with a different premise in mind. They never told us what the original premise was; the only thing they said was that it may get covered in a future post, which has not happened yet.

Eldritch J was in the original script of the second episode; she was only introduced after the series got greenlit.

Concept art of her:

Her eyes used to be different:
6 - Eldritch-J-Eyes-Concept-by-Liam.jpg

Each of her limbs uses separate models:

They also tried making her bloodier. She would've had blood stuck between limbs, but it was too difficult to implement.

7 - Eldritch-J-Sim-by-Stephen.png

On the other hand, they managed to add blood dripping from her mouth.

Next to the Glitch Inn posts scraped from their website, I also managed to get my hands on a few exclusive recordings of their livestreams from their paywalled Glitch Inn Discord server. These livestreams were about Murder Drones, and they showcased parts of the animation in freecam. Other than a few minor details, there wasn't anything groundbreaking shown. I also had to convert these recordings to a more efficient video format due to their large file sizes.

We got a good closeup of her ID badge.

alice1.png

She got a few black streaks in her hair, a small detail that's impossible to notice with the grim lighting episode 6 has.

alice2.png

And that should be everything, folks! I've searched through more than 2.5 GiB of MD-related content from the Glitch Inn website and over 2 hours of livestreams from their exclusive Discord server. While Murder Drones had around 25% fewer posts dedicated to it than TADC, I found those posts to be of higher quality, as they showed a lot more stuff that was either cut or changed during production (or it could be just me being more enthusiastic about MD than TADC, probably both). Feel free to go through the rest if you're interested in stuff such as storyboards, WIP animations, showcases of the finalized models and locations, and other miscellaneous things.

The watermarks can be removed with AI easily.

Part 3 is going to be about The Gaslight District, Knights of Guinevere, Meta Runner, and Sunset Paradise.

I haven’t watched Gaslight District, but the ugly character designs don’t exactly make want to either. At least the princes doll in KoG is eye catching.

Apparently N (The main male murder robot voiced by Michael Kovach) in the show was supposed to be British, but Michael apparently can't do a British accent so it was dropped.
God, imagine how his fag voice would sound trying to be BRI'ISH! :story:

Hm, maybe my information was false then because I was told the original concept was going to be a zombie episode. Basically zombie drones would attack the colony before the entire concept was scrapped.
I presume the concept was then somewhat reused later for that shitty music video with the living tombstones they made.

Makes me wonder how much using Unreal Slopgen was slowing down production. They'll probably never say out loud but I have to imagine they ran into a lot of problems if it took them 2 fucking years to rig one single character who honestly isn't even that complex.

Overal somewhat disappointed. There's nothing really here I cared to know, well except for the animation problems. Remember producing a single episode of this show apparently cost them like 2k-3k from what I was told.

It's truly astonishing how Glitch shits out the most abhorrent dialog to listen to, both in terms of the quality of writing and whoever voices these fucking non-tranime characters. For the love of Christ, just talk like a fucking human for 3 seconds FFS.

The first iteration of the female design was changed because it looked too similar to a Meta Runner character named Evelyn (literally who?).

I find it hilarious how much Luke and Kevin wanted Meta Runner to be Glitch's flagship franchise, and now it's easily one of Glitch's most forgotten series. In retrospect, this decision is somewhat funny, given that nobody remembers the Meta Runner cast apart from Tari (and maybe Theo and Belle, and even then, most people only know Tari and Belle from SMG4), while I see tons of people with usernames like "J Number 1 fan" or "Serial Designation J".

Yes, I've seen people create 3D replicas of MD characters (including Cyn) and it takes them less time and resources than it does Glitch. Heck, in some cases, they even make them more complex.

Same, although I'm glad there are images that aren't on the Murder Drones wiki, like this one.

Exactly, I've seen fan made models on Youtube and shit that look MORE detailed than the models used in the fucking show.
I'm starting to wonder how much of the animation team actually knows what they're doing.
Could be Glitch retardedly hired people who were good at specific animation softwares that weren't Unreal then went "Erm, ackshully we're animate in Unreal." and then wondered why it was taking them so long.

Why the fuck are they animating in a game engine?

Oh, yeah, because they’re sponsored by Epic. Still fucking idiotic they should just shove an ad for Fortnite at the end of their videos with the other merch shilling. I have enough game development experience to know that using a goddamn game engine for animated films is beyond retarded.

I’m just sick of characters being described as “little chaos gremlins” or “tiny menace goblins” or whatever quirkchungus milennial permutation you want to go with. It’s just embarrassing to read and it’s so over utilized.
Nah this goes back to the Deviantart days. Uzi is literally just a Deviantart OC, the page feels like it's from the mid to late 2000s. Considering Liam seems to have never left his edgy teenage creepypasta phase it all checks out.
