John Cena tapping out in his retirement match? Really? Really?

After the match when they were playing that Cena tribute video and they had a camera on Cena's face, you could still hear the crowd a bit. When a clip of Triple H played you could lots of booing, but when a clip of Vince McMahon played, I couldn't hear any booing. Did anyone else notice that? It's wild.

The booing was off the charts.

Faggots on reddit are crying about "tradition", but the more I think about it the more I'm like there is NOTHING traditional about this retirement.

For real, when has there been a retirement that has been advertised for a whole year? Where tickets were sold at such a premium? Where it was basically it's own event because, let's be honest, they could have dropped the SNME and just called the whole show "Cenas Last Match" for how it went.

The more I think about it, the more I think Cena should have won. Cena was always about what the fans wanted, and this wasn't a retirement match during a show, this was a whole show devoted to a retirement match. A retirement show that fans paid thousands to attend.

I'm not even a Cena fan, hell I'm not even that big of a pro wrestling fan anymore, but what a crock of shit. What an absolute blunder.

And for what? To elevate Gunther? 38 year old Gunther who has the longest IC title reign, two WHC reigns, was King of the Ring and retired Goldberg?

Cena was never about "what the fans wanted".....he was boo'd for half of his run & he had the most boring run until The Rock stuff, after The Rock when they stopped mega-pushing him & started putting him in the undercards, gave him the US title, he started feuding with new younger talent, then the "other half" of the audience started to appreciate him more. But don't pretend WWE fans weren't booing this man for a decade of his career, from like 2007-2014 this man was the most hated man in WWE. There's a reason why Punk's (then Bryan's) ascension to the main event was such a big deal because everyone was so tired of guys like Cena (and to a lesser extent Orton & HHH) being the only real main eventers for YEARS

The WWE produced Ric Flair storyline was very good, Cena's run honestly had the better matches though if I'm being honest. I enjoyed WWE turning Cena heel, Cena as a heel is infinitely more interesting to me than Super Cena. It sucks they seemed to have no real plan for the character and it was mostly very mid & you could tell it wasn't very "fleshed out" before they presented it.

anyone who pretends it's even close to as bad as Angle's 5 min job retirement match is really just lying lol. That was arguably the most disrespectful retirement match WWE has done with no real weight to it & it was against a talent who had go away heat. This match went how virtually everyone predicted it would go & it was a pretty good match. Him tapping out has been the "betting odds favorite" since before this match was even officially announced & was just rumored. Cena went out on his back like everyone else & he did something that most people criticized him for not doing at all during his prime, completely put someone over at his own expense. The fact people are so upset he lost his retirement is pretty funny tho.

the match or the whole run? I do think this helps Gunther, idk how it couldn't. Yeah I somewhat agree....WWE has become a "moment factory" where everything that's not a "memorable moment" that can be played in 60 second Tik Tok short is almost instantly forgotten about.
