He is not wrong in what he says as the movie might have been treated unfairly, Anti-SJWs also have an agenda that they can be rather pushy with and yes, people have become rather bitter with hate after all these years of slander and being called -ists and -phobes and bigots.

I think he might be too angry to make good arguments now but he should take a step back and ask if he can meet the fans halfway.
I don't even think it's a political issue with this movie. It's the absolutely shit economy that is making people stay away. Yeah, I know the meme of Garfield beating this movie on profit, but revenue-wise, they're neck and neck, meaning that attendance is down overall. No one is excited for Garfield per se, it's just in the news for beating Furiosa.

Fury Road was cool and all but who the duck ACTUALLY wants a solo Furiosa movie? Without Max in Mad Max all you have is a big standard post apocalypse thing.
Furiosa seems like it’d be a more interesting comic, short film, or book. Even if it’s good that perception of it is going to hurt it in the box office.

I think so too. If people had more money they’d see it. I might watch lord of the rings when it’s rereleased briefly for the nostalgia.

A bit of column A and a bit of column B...

It’s not political, that’s why I’m confused that all the ‘fatigued of the culture war’ actors want it to be that so badly. I also don’t get why they’re doomsaying the movie.

The final numbers will come in when it hits streaming, and I’m sure it’ll do fine there. Going to the movies isn’t as fun and convenient as movie night at home/a friend’s.
They’re trying to whip up a controversy for something they said they love, and I don’t know why.
FTR, it's well known that Boi Zach is good at comics, but has the worst taste in movies.
He does, but he’s also just a lying, hypocritical pos right now too. He wants to distance himself from CG, but I see them as having all went off the rails together. He should be where Eric July is, but his retardation and undeserved pretensions have kept him where he’s at.

To be fair, July is CG too. Just not EVS 's retarded version. Eric just releashes stuff with as little drama as possible apart from jealousness which I can respect. Zack spent years in the "better than current Marvel/DC but still not close to the legendary stuff of the past" shelf. From what I saw RNRN is Zack 's first truly critically acclaimed book.

There are several movies that have been successful in 2024: https://www.boxofficemojo.com/year/world/

Furiosa is #20 on the list (Garfield is #12 lol). If Furiosa and Garfield were in the top five, I think you all would have a good point about everything being down. Problem is as you look through it, few things really seem appealing. There’s just nothing good to see at the moment. For years the box office was dominated by capeshit so people were just used to even B-tier capeshit bringing in half a billion at least.

Sorry, Furiosa sucks and nobody wants to see it. That’s the primary root cause of it underperforming.

Also, is it just me or has anyone else noticed that Thunderdome has just taken over as the defacto representation of the Mad Max post apocalyptic setting? Nuclear fallout wasn't even the reason for the apocalypse in the original Mad Max, it was an energy crisis that caused modern society to putter out and go feral. Thunderdome was the first Mad Max film to even mention radiation, and Thunderdome was not even originally a Mad Max script, it was adapted from an unrelated screenplay. Mad Max seems more like a style than a specific setting anymore, like Steampunk.
It's definitely noticeable. Mad Max tripped over its own shoelaces, and when it tried to pick itself up it started copying from its copycats instead of just being itself. There were so many post-apocalypse movies released in Mad Max's wake that all just blended together and starred a nuclear holocaust to explain why everything is a desert shithole, when the truth is much simpler: Australia is just naturally a desert shithole. The first half of Thunderdome still fits kind of decently into a story telling arc for the franchise, with people trying to cobble together something resembling a functional society after the slow death of the old world in the first movie, and whatever meat still on its bones being picked apart by scavengers in the second, that a rebirth seems fitting for a third movie... but then the second half is just such a shitshow that it's obvious that it's a different movie, and the tone of the entire movie changes to accommodate these weird cargo cult kids instead of subjecting them to what would naturally happen to such outside people in such a world, and which did happen to the hippies in Furiosa's backstory. Kind of makes me wonder if that backstory was intended as a sort of acknowledgement of how bad he messed up with Beyond Thunderdome. The scarcity themes also become much less important to the story; the problem isn't that resources are scarce now, it's that the resources are just being hoarded... and that's bad! Any messaging that the franchise may have once had is lost to spectacle. A victim of its own success.

Zack made it a trilogy. Same old, same old. He barely threads new ground. Just see the movie and review it, for fucks shake!

maybe next time add mad max to the mad max movie imo Captura.PNG

Furiosa's budget was just too high for a plot that basically amounts to an optional side quest DLC for the 2015 Mad Max game.

The main highlights was some cool fight scenes on the War Rig and maybe the action set pieces at Gastown and the Bullet Farm but that's it.

Honestly should've just invested in a Mad Max Reboot with a new actor or something tbh. Because the action is fun as fuck to watch on 4DX but like the plot is such a nothingburger.

I guessed $32m and it was $32.3m actual. call me the visionary.

while terminally online types argue about girlbosses, the reality is that people are really fatigued with expanded universe shovel movies and the trailer looked like shit.

It's this for me. I couldn't care less if they used women or whatever for their movie, as long as there is no absolutely blatant propaganda and the movie was actually good or it was a novel idea for once and not some reboot or unnecessary sequel/offshoot that sucks massive cock and waters down yet another franchise I am keen on. Since everyone in hollyweird has basically the exact same personality though I don't see such a thing happening any time in the near future.

There's lots of female-centric medias that even the most hardcore of those MGTOW losers actually enjoy. Just stop feeding people trash and they will like it. Don't add any, "but..." to your film. Don't try and force people to think the way you do. Just show the movie. I am sick of all of these films hiding some sort of morality lesson or manipulation tactic in plain sight

There’s no huge anti-SJW push against this movie, because nobody was talking about it before it came out, and all the people who’ve seen it seem to be able to do, is shame others for not going to see it.

Him, Critikal, film twitter. This is the weirdest phenomenon to come out of online media discourse yet.

There were several. I don’t want to start a laundry list, because the real question here is how much damage could some grifters impotent nerdraging to their even more impotent nerdraging paypigs do? Probably not much.

There was not a huge push not to see the movie cuz woke. The “usual suspects” having a tired gripe to their audience that was never going to the movie doesn’t equal a huge campaign like Zack lied and sperged out about for DAYS.

In reality the economy is bad, movie theaters are expensive and not that fun anymore (and Covid broke the habit for a lot of people), the movie was poorly promoted, the first one was a modest money maker too, and it’ll probably find its legs on streaming.
It wasn’t the culture warriors who blew things out of proportion this time.

Even most of the “usual suspects” said it was a fine movie. People doomsdaying over the bug-eyed thumbnail crew is getting old, they don’t have as much power as paranoid people think.

Oh well, I guess it was nice that we got The Road Warrior.

It was three strings of wars. The energy crisis & oil wars, the water wars, and the nuclear war. I’m not sure if that was something that was retconned or if it was a planned progression. I’d guess The Road Warrior was set after the water wars because I don’t remember any radiation. Humungus’’ chemo-hair head makes me wonder though.

Thunderdome was its own draft but the writer of the novel Riddley Walker was in talks with them to adapt that book. The writer of Thunderdome (I forget his name) decided to *borrow*quite a bit from it. Ideas, characterizations & original slang from it. Even used the Walker name for the airline captain. Shameless.

Even most of the “usual suspects” said it was a fine movie. People doomsdaying over the bug-eyed thumbnail crew is getting old, they don’t have as much power as paranoid people think.

”Bug-eyed thumbnail crew“ bwahaha. That’s a keeper.

Ya Boi Zack has to have some learning impediment. The words he chooses to say, the amount of time it takes him to enunciate them, maybe his brain is just fried from an accident, or drugs.
IMHO the movie was good. I have no clue what it means when folks post stuff like "it's okay , it was meh, it was not revolutionary". This is an era where they release endless Despicable Me sequels, phone app IP, jaded or watered down reboots. The googly-eyed-thumbnail grift youtube outrage videos are such a pathetic desperate grasp at ragebaiting at this point.

I don't think I've seen a bigger example of someone coping so hard for a movie that's overall mediocre.
Ya Boi Zack is Coping Hard.png

Looks, here's the thing, nobody cares about Furiosa at all.
She is a boring character who basically needs Max to help her and Immortan Joe's wives get away and travel to The Many Mothers and The Green Place.
But as it turns out, The Mothers managed to fuck up taking care of Green Place and turn it into a polluted bog making Furiosa's journey all in vain.
Thus, Max and Furiosa travel back to an Immortan place to get water.
Despite how ruthless he is, he does better by taking care of his environment and not wasting all his resources.
The only reason Furiosa was able to take over the place is that one Immortan man sacrificed himself for Furiosa to succeed.

Despite what the film tells you, Furiosa just sucks as a character, and yet Ya Boi Zack is getting so petty and bitter that nobody watching a movie for archetype people are sick to death to watch.

The Girl Boss archetype was so insufferable to watch because of how desperate the movies would constantly brag about how "great they are" when, in reality, they were self-righteous, selfish, and continuously belittled men or worse were Marysues who bent the plot to suit their needs, made even worse when they would the male characters everyone wanted to watch, including women.

One of his dumbest arguments for his film was when he said, "You want to see Mad Max in the Mad Max film?" Yeah, people want to see the protagonist of the film.
It's the reason the audience watches, so when the film replaces said protagonist with someone nobody asks for, it just pisses people off, and they will walk away.

Hollywood has done this for years, and it has killed its reputation. In turn, the audience will leave and never come back.
It's not helped that inflation has increased, and people are struggling to pay rent and support their families.
Do you honestly think they have the time to waste money on a mediocre film no one asks for from an industry that despises them?

That's what's frustrating about this conversation.
Zack is too angry and bitter to understand the conversation and blames people for refusing to watch a movie he likes.
Thus, he's shaming people and claiming they're problems, not the movies.
