I don't even think it's a political issue with this movie. It's the absolutely shit economy that is making people stay away. Yeah, I know the meme of Garfield beating this movie on profit, but revenue-wise, they're neck and neck, meaning that attendance is down overall. No one is excited for Garfield per se, it's just in the news for beating Furiosa. He is not wrong in what he says as the movie might have been treated unfairly, Anti-SJWs also have an agenda that they can be rather pushy with and yes, people have become rather bitter with hate after all these years of slander and being called -ists and -phobes and bigots.
I think he might be too angry to make good arguments now but he should take a step back and ask if he can meet the fans halfway.
Furiosa seems like it’d be a more interesting comic, short film, or book. Even if it’s good that perception of it is going to hurt it in the box office.Fury Road was cool and all but who the duck ACTUALLY wants a solo Furiosa movie? Without Max in Mad Max all you have is a big standard post apocalypse thing.
I think so too. If people had more money they’d see it. I might watch lord of the rings when it’s rereleased briefly for the nostalgia.I don't even think it's a political issue with this movie. A bit of column A and a bit of column B...I don't even think it's a political issue with this movie. It's the absolutely shit economy that is making people stay away. It’s not political, that’s why I’m confused that all the ‘fatigued of the culture war’ actors want it to be that so badly. I also don’t get why they’re doomsaying the movie.I don't even think it's a political issue with this movie. It's the absolutely shit economy that is making people stay away. He does, but he’s also just a lying, hypocritical pos right now too. He wants to distance himself from CG, but I see them as having all went off the rails together. He should be where Eric July is, but his retardation and undeserved pretensions have kept him where he’s at.FTR, it's well known that Boi Zach is good at comics, but has the worst taste in movies.
To be fair, July is CG too. Just not EVS 's retarded version. Eric just releashes stuff with as little drama as possible apart from jealousness which I can respect. Zack spent years in the "better than current Marvel/DC but still not close to the legendary stuff of the past" shelf. From what I saw RNRN is Zack 's first truly critically acclaimed book.He does, but he’s also just a lying, hypocritical pos right now too. It's definitely noticeable. Mad Max tripped over its own shoelaces, and when it tried to pick itself up it started copying from its copycats instead of just being itself. There were so many post-apocalypse movies released in Mad Max's wake that all just blended together and starred a nuclear holocaust to explain why everything is a desert shithole, when the truth is much simpler: Australia is just naturally a desert shithole. The first half of Thunderdome still fits kind of decently into a story telling arc for the franchise, with people trying to cobble together something resembling a functional society after the slow death of the old world in the first movie, and whatever meat still on its bones being picked apart by scavengers in the second, that a rebirth seems fitting for a third movie... but then the second half is just such a shitshow that it's obvious that it's a different movie, and the tone of the entire movie changes to accommodate these weird cargo cult kids instead of subjecting them to what would naturally happen to such outside people in such a world, and which did happen to the hippies in Furiosa's backstory. Kind of makes me wonder if that backstory was intended as a sort of acknowledgement of how bad he messed up with Beyond Thunderdome. The scarcity themes also become much less important to the story; the problem isn't that resources are scarce now, it's that the resources are just being hoarded... and that's bad! Any messaging that the franchise may have once had is lost to spectacle. A victim of its own success. Also, is it just me or has anyone else noticed that Thunderdome has just taken over as the defacto representation of the Mad Max post apocalyptic setting? Nuclear fallout wasn't even the reason for the apocalypse in the original Mad Max, it was an energy crisis that caused modern society to putter out and go feral. Thunderdome was the first Mad Max film to even mention radiation, and Thunderdome was not even originally a Mad Max script, it was adapted from an unrelated screenplay. Mad Max seems more like a style than a specific setting anymore, like Steampunk.
Furiosa's budget was just too high for a plot that basically amounts to an optional side quest DLC for the 2015 Mad Max game. There are several movies that have been successful in 2024: https://www.boxofficemojo.com/year/world/
Furiosa is #20 on the list (Garfield is #12 lol). If Furiosa and Garfield were in the top five, I think you all would have a good point about everything being down. Problem is as you look through it, few things really seem appealing. There’s just nothing good to see at the moment. For years the box office was dominated by capeshit so people were just used to even B-tier capeshit bringing in half a billion at least.
Sorry, Furiosa sucks and nobody wants to see it. That’s the primary root cause of it underperforming.
I guessed $32m and it was $32.3m actual. call me the visionary.maybe next time add mad max to the mad max movie imo

while terminally online types argue about girlbosses, the reality is that people are really fatigued with expanded universe shovel movies and the trailer looked like shit.
That's not a list of "successful" films. It's a list of films by worldwide revenue breaking down the domestic/foreign split. Nothing more. It says nothing about whether any of them actually made any money Furiosa being a good example. There are several movies that have been successful in 2024: https://www.boxofficemojo.com/year/world/
There’s no huge anti-SJW push against this movie, because nobody was talking about it before it came out, and all the people who’ve seen it seem to be able to do, is shame others for not going to see it.
Him, Critikal, film twitter. This is the weirdest phenomenon to come out of online media discourse yet.
There was not a huge push not to see the movie cuz woke. The “usual suspects” having a tired gripe to their audience that was never going to the movie doesn’t equal a huge campaign like Zack lied and sperged out about for DAYS.There were several. I don’t want to start a laundry list, because the real question here is how much damage could some grifters impotent nerdraging to their even more impotent nerdraging paypigs do? Probably not much.

Oh well, I guess it was nice that we got The Road Warrior.
Even most of the “usual suspects” said it was a fine movie. People doomsdaying over the bug-eyed thumbnail crew is getting old, they don’t have as much power as paranoid people think.
