I feel like Furiosa was like one of the first in the big "girl power" push in media tbqh

I swear I remember being on the internet and being like "Yeah, she was cool but fuckin calm down." at reddit and twitter fags losing their mind over her.
Which is funny when looking back on Fury Road's finale, Furiosa fucked over everyone in the long run. Joe was a sick fuck, but even he knew to not waste all the clean water.

It really baffles me that out of all the potential side characters in Mad Max films to make a spin-off about, they picked Furiosa. Seriously, who actually gives a fuck about Furiosa? All I can remember about her from Fury Road is Charlize Theron's perpetually constipated face and wandering around without a plan.
Even the flamethrowing guitar dude would have been a more interesting character for a spin off

This is a pointless movie because Fury Road gave us all we ever needed to know about Furiosa to begin with. We can imagine and piece together her past by seeing the Warboys and the Wives already. We're not stupid.

We don't need her backstory to be spoonfed to us, and I don't need to know the specifics of why she lost her arm. We can kind of figure that out ourselves already without watching another 2+ hour movie.

And, again, I'm saying this as someone who still loves Fury Road.

The film is literally 8 years too late to be a starting point to Mad Max expanded universe . And I thought it was supposed to be a tv show.

Agreed entirely. It's been almost a full decade since Fury Road.

All of the hype that it got back in 2015-2016 is long gone among the general audience.

It's odd that it took so long for this movie to happen.

Loved Fury Road, one of the few modern films i regret not having watched at the cinema, saw a mini trailer of this on YT (TV app, no adblock possible) and it looked like dogshit. Zero hype.

This is a question for anyone who's seen this movie, Does Max show up in it at all? I remember there was a leak from the set showing the Interceptor but is there anything to that or does it just show up once in the movie and never again?

I saw the movie and thought it was fine, but certainly no Fury Road. I liked the action scenes and further view of life in the Wasteland, though I won't argue against those who didn't like the film, especially when it comes to criticism of the CGI downgrade. Pretty ballsy for the ending credits to be spliced with short clips from Fury Road for the audience to immediately compare to the whole preceding film. One clip was the wideshot of Immortan Joe's pursuit party with all of the real vehicles that looked more real than ever thanks to that comparison.

I didn't know this movie was in production at all until I started to see the advertisements. Why the heck did they, instead of making another Mad Max movie, decide Furiosa needed to have her own movie? Furiosa was lame. If we're gonna give the Mad Max side characters movies why don't they make something interesting like the Master Blaster picture? I really don't get the though process.

IIRC, this was supposed to be filmed back to back with Fury Road but it ended up in development hell.

It seems to me that Miller *really* just wanted to make Furiosa movies but seemingly had to tie it to Mad Max in order to get them made.

Mel Gibson is Mad Max so Fury Road was already a Mad Max movie without Mad Max in it just some guy with the same name and I still enjoyed that one, I also like Miller's other work like Witches of Eastwick so I'm hoping I will enjoy this for what it is, post-apocalyptic action movie. I don't think anything will ever top The Road Warrior but that's a pretty high-standard to have.

Shame we will never get Old Man Max movie with Gibson.

Just got back from the theater.

The Good:
-The worldbuilding. Furiosa is the Attack of the Clones of the Mad Max franchise. Its a movie that doesn't work on a fundamental level, but you can't help but enjoy yourself because its fleshing out the setting of Fury Road.
-Chris Hemsworth. Hemsworth plays the bumbling warlord of a second rate raiders crew, but somehow, through sheer avarice, he becomes an equal to Immorten Joe. Chris and his crew are fun. They really remind me of the over-the-top raiders you see in Fist of the North Star.

The Bad:
-Anya Taylor Joy. She sucks. She has one expression and can't act.
-Furiosa. She's badly written. The ending loops back to the beginning of Fury Road, but they don't really explain why Furiosa cares about Immorten Joe's brides. She spends like one year in the harem before running away, but then seems to be loyal to Immorten Joe for the next 12+ years. Its badly explained.
-Furiosa. No, really, she sucks. She is sometimes mute, but then sometimes isn't. They don't really explain why, either.
-Chris Hemsworth. He's not menacing. There are times when he should have turned off the goofiness and played it serious, but he just couldn't do it.
-The special effects. They look like shit compared to the original. Everybody knows it.

Overall, I would say I enjoyed the movie more than I hated it. It feels a big long and definitely blows its load early.

6/10

The second my dad wants me to join him to see a certain movie, that's the very second I know it isn't good. He's Boomer-tier as fuck. He recommended Fallout - so I knew it would be shit. He wants to go see Furiosa - all I need to hear to know it is guaranteed Shit.
