I mean, isnt that always a thing? Aside from the 1st movie, in both the 2nd and 3rd Max was never the main focus, he was just someone who stumbles into movie and just does shit, Fury Road wasnt any different from that formula.
Rich Evans said this too and I don’t get this idea. The movies feature other characters prominently, but Max is essential to the plot and never forgotten. The series also sets him up as our unique vehicle through this world because he remembers things before the collapse, but has lost his humanity in a way that’s survival based, instead of full on psychosis like most citizens of the world atp.

I mean they damn near mythologize him into a god in Thunderdome he’s so centralized. Fury Road overdid the focus on other characters in a MM movie and made him useless, the other movies were balanced.

Considering that George Miller was working on Fury Road for over a decade, he must have made up some backstory for those characters that he wanted to explore.

I think I can figure out the plot of the movie looking back at the trailer.

Furiosa is kidnapped by Lord Dementus (Liam Hemsworth) and forced to fight in an arena. Immortan Joe is impressed by her skill and recruits her into his army.

Years pass and Lord Dementus goes to war against Immortan Joe. Furiosa gleefully fights her former kidnapper, perhaps through manipulation by Immortan Joe, only to realize that both warlords were fighting after the Wives. If you don’t remember, those are the five girls that Immortan Joe used try to create his perfect heir.

Furiosa will be enraged at the fact that she has become like Lord Dementus, giving other people over to Immortan Joe to be used as an object, much like she and the war boys are used. Such bitterness will lead to her conspiring to free the Wives in Fury Road.
Now only question is where the fuck she somehow obtained, what can be only described as, a robot arm that looks straight out of 40k.

Doesn't look too far off the first trailers of Fury Road in terms of CGI, but who knows how the final product will look when it comes out and if this is the final render of the CGI.

Miller’s never made a bad movie, but fuck is this a CGI fest. Barely any practical FX there. If these aren’t just placeholder FX, I agree it should be in B&W or Sepia. And is it just me, or is Anna Taylor Joy in everything now? She looks nothing like Charlize at any age. Should’ve been someone taller & more atheletic. Margaret Qualley maybe. She’d be better for half the price, but the studio execs just gotta have the big names.

Was he useless though? After the sandstorm, the movie is pretty much Max’s show. He kept the war rig from being overrun many times. He took out the Bullet Farmers that had them pinned down in the bog. He stopped them from riding their bikes to certain death in the Big Nothing, which is just dried-up ocean bed for thousands of miles. It was Max who came up with the plan to go back & take the Citadel. He saved Furiosa‘s life with his blood transfusion. Fury Road isn’t too different from The Road Warrior to me, it’s just 80% of it is road wars instead of 20%, and the Amazon survives this time.

I trust George Miller but the CGI in that trailer has me a little worried. Don't fuck it up George!

Miller almost lost his mind making Fury Road because he was so worried about the safety of the cast and stunt performers so wasn't surprised by the cgi. Fits the surreal comic book vibes.

Anna looks hot in leather and is always solid along with Hemsworth. People upset by women are incels. WITNESS MEEEEEEE!!!!!

I actually forgot that Mad Max: Fury Road was a thing, since I only saw it because of Tom Hardy. This, on the other hand, made me think that they’re trying to do with what they did to Daniel Craig in the recent James Bond movie.

Making the new Mad Max a female is not a bad thing, but it also does not seem to know what it wants to be.

Either way, the first three Mad Max movies are still great.

I doubt it will do well. Fury Road was a "dissapointment" in that it made its money back but not much better. And this wont have the sweet stunts and practical effects. "the Marvels" shows us the scope of the audience for a female led men bad property that is primarily for men.

Also a huge part of Mad Max and post apoc genre is how much the protags get their asses beat and they wont do that to female protag.

The people complaining about Anya Taylor Joy are actual fags.

The trailer looks fine. I just think the movie itself isn't far enough in development for the CGI to be actually good yet. I'm not sure about how successful the movie will actually be since it sidelines the main character we've been following (kind of) for forty years and comes six years after the last movie, but I won't complain. Furiosa is cool as shit.
