Sorry, I needed to find somewhere. To rant about this, but my entire state is being fucked over by massive warehouses that are constantly empty and. Giant fucking apartment complexes being built on every. Once beautiful. Point of the state. I'm just wondering if any other Kiwis have this problem. It seems like it's something that neither the right or the left is actually addressing. Just turning America into one giant. Amazon fulfillment center is something desirable. It's not. And these aren't even good paying jobs. These are mediocre jobs with shit benefits. And everywhere I look now, it's just a ugly 60 foot. Concrete block where the once was rolling. hills and nice. Woods.

And I also cussed out my local town council because they keep approving these without notifying the general community. They're just building them Willy nilly wherever the fuck they want.
And if I try and get basic permits for single family houses, forget it. But you can build a 20,000 square foot warehouse on. Non commercial real estate and fuck up the entire town's road system and cause massive traffic jams now.

Your local council has probably had at least a decade of stressful meetings about declining budgets, before some developer got on the agenda and waved a modest tax revenue bump under their noses.

But the town I live in wasn't even remotely economically depressed whatsoever. We were a thriving town that just put them in. Without the Township. General public knowing. They simply started construction before they had any public hearings.

This is a problem across the US and has been getting really bad the last 3-5 years or so. Like I don't think anyone's even living in the huge apartment complexes they keep building by me. I complained about this before in a thread a year or two ago but I can't remember where it was. Didn't bring up the warehouses shit but yeah amazon's been doing that around here too. Lots of closed big empty lots too that could be used for the apartments or warehosues but no NO THEY FUCKING BUILD THEM ONT HE LAST BIT OF GREEN LAND WE GOT AROUND HERE AND GO "Oh we need to protect the envoironment!"as they bulldoze the last bits of it.

There's an area I walk every other day where they never built a sidewalk so i gotta walk on the busy road's side like a freak but guess what? They're building ANOTHER FUCKING APARTMENT COMPLEX ALONG THAT WAY IN THE SMALL BIT OF WOODS.

I honestly havent seen much neighborhoods being built. I'd be fine if it was a neighborhood. it's just warehouses and apartment complexes that look like schizo minecraft structures.

Yep happening all around my metro. Got a friend who works in construction who says there's so much money being thrown around for fulfilment/data centers now that the GCs are throwing up structures as fast as possible, even before they have permits and zoning 100% lined up. They just treat any potential fines as just another expense, since the amounts are worthless after recent inflation and how much revenue they have coming in.

People using less plastic straws does not stop companies from dumping garbage into the ocean (which is what leads to shit like this). There are far, FAR worse things than plastic straws they get away with dumping in there too.
