Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Never played except some fucking around on a trial account, are raid/party/group sizes comparable to their WoW equivalents? A couple of tanks, handful of healers, rest dps?

Also which starting job/class is enjoyable to do solo stuff as and can become a good healer for group content?
The only healer class you can get at the very beginning is Conjurer, while the Scholar class is a healing branch of Arcanist which you can unlock at level 30, though despite being a ranged magical dps class on paper Arcanist does get a healing and resurrection spell before the branching off point. I don't really have personal experience with them but from what I can see the main difference is that as a Scholar you get a pet fairy that will passively heal people around you as you're doing your own thing.
Early game SCH is pretty easy with your fairy Eos keeping things pretty chill with its passive healing being usually enough to keep the tank alive with an occasional GCD heal once their hp takes a dip past half. As you climb the levels in higher level dungeons, Eos alone will not be enough to sustain the tank in large packs of adds and you must make use of your aetherflow stacks for OGCD healing to go alongside your GCD heals. Unlike WHM, SCH applies shields instead of regenerating health which are best used for BEFORE taking damage as opposed to an emergency heal or healing over time. A critical heal from Adloquium, the main single target GCD heal, will add an extra shield which is great for tanks that are about to get hit by a tankbuster during a boss fight. Usually that's random, but can be controlled by the ability Recitation which makes the next Adlo a guaranteed crit heal. Also unlike WHM, Physick, the first heal GCD for SCH, still has a use in that it has a higher heal potency than Adlo but no shield and costs less MP so you will find yourself alternating between the two spells for single target healing. WHM's Cure I has the slight chance to give you a free cast of Cure II, but the proc chance is so fuckin slim that you're better off just replacing it altogether with Cure II. Each healer has a different playstyle to learn, but they all serve the purpose of keeping everyone alive pretty decently.

Yeah, Bozja feels really, really shallow after the initial honeymoon period.

Just like Eureka.
The problem is is that there’s not much to actually do in the area and you’ve pretty much experienced everything Bozja has to offer in a single night. There could’ve been daily side quests to do in that area or have random events that gave you debuffs or changed how fates and critical engagements worked. I don’t know what else they could do to make that zone interesting realistically because I don’t know if it’s design even works.

Holy shit I wish the Emerald Carbuncle didn't aggro absolutely fucking everything.
You can set it to obey so that it doesn't attack things that attack you. It'll only start attacking after you attack first.
You could always dismiss the pet and only summon it when you need it as well.

I figured this was about how the green buncle's auto attack is AOE which means that even if you set it to only attack when you attack, it ends up aggroing other stuff stuff that happens to wander closer. This bugged me too in the brief time I tried that class out and I ended up switching to the yellow carbuncle ASAP.

Yeah it has an AoE attack so it just pulls a group when all I wanted was one. Oh well.

You mean the two of you were using emerald outside of dungeons?

Use Topaz outside of dungeons. It's a single target attacking carbuncle that sorta acts like a mini tank for you. Use emerald only inside of dungeons since it's harder hitting and you don't have to worry about taking damage since there's a PC tank in there with you anyway, assuming they are worth their salt as a tank.

i prefer to alternate between emerald and ruby carbuncles while running dungeons — emerald for the trash mobs bc those aoes are chefs kiss and ruby for bosses.

outside of ‘em, ruby is usually my go-to even if it’s just so i can replace it with bahamut/phoenix two seconds after. i rarely use emerald, and topaz even less tbh but that’s just me.

If only they fixed the mount and hair drop rates, too. Just finished relic number three and nothing so far.
No hair yet either, haha.

Although now that getting memories is easier in castrum, maybe I'll work on more than 3 relics. I was only thinking about stopping at 3 because of the long grind,

We'll see. My crafting itch still needs to be scratched.

i'm already seeing people complain about having to do 15 crystal tower runs and now increasing the drop rates there. as if the actual raid itself is hard and takes maybe less than 20 minutes to actually complete if no one is stupid and wipes at boss 2 and 3

So I don't have to grind memories from Heavensward/Stormblood raids and FATEs for the second step? That's cool, doing 15 delubrums still sucks.

It's more that, between them being the first set of alliance raids (meaning low level characters and alt classes practically queue for them exclusively), completing them being mandatory for the plot now, and various other factors, they are without question the most common Alliance Raids to face in roulette. It's not hard, people are just bored stiff of them.

Since there's no ultimate for the raiders who let this game dedicate their entire life till 6.1, they always make their own "content" which is usually trying to dunk on people on Twitter for attention. Good ol' autist Bokchoy always complaining about toxic casuals as he tries to send his little base to go at someone "copying Xeno" and his word is the truth because he's an "important FFXIV player."

Don't tell these speds this is how most people act when playing on-line games, or streaming on Twitch. Heck, it might be him putting on a persona all along of being a bad, mad gamer. Who knows but honestly who cares, unless you're an FFXIV raiding autist and you gotta feel good about yourself since you can't show off your video game weapon.

Tbh, this behavior is par for the course for most streamers and content creators for a game.

They end up getting fat heads and it turns into some kind of God complex. They are handed everything by their viewers and fans and they are constantly placed on a pedestal and their feet kissed. It's standard fair for them to act super nice and put on a show on camera. But the second the recorder turns off, they turn into the worst kinds of people you can possibly imagine. I understand having to fake a ton of shit to make ends meet and to keep a show going, but using your status as someone with influence in the community to weaponize said community against someone you don't like is fucking scummy and I hate it and it disgusts me. Fight your own fucking battles and don't hide behind your sycophants and fans.

People like that make me sick.
