Just beat Ifrit, buddy of mine happens to be a mentor so I've gotten some sweet xp boosts in dungeons, since he tags along to break away from the monotony of endgame crafting content (that and it gives him an excuse to level some shit).

I can see why people get annoyed with level sync at times though, I get used to my current combo of 1-3-1-2-4-5 but level sync takes away my 5th, so I just have to remember 1-3-1-4-2 again. Keeping all the side quests for whenever I level other jobs.

Looking forward to eventually getting to actual content where I have to pay attention or end up doing my True and Honest job of Dragoon (floor tanking).

Okay I've started doing CE in earnest now.
Mostly because I'm bored and because doing the rotations without setting them to a 1-2 button macro forces me to really focus and lock the fuck in. The intense concentration while listening to music or just peaceful ambience let's me zone out and it feels really nice. I'm still not done with the 2nd zone but I've hit a nice stride and both gives me something to do and work towards.

Also, I have to admit that the story of chasing a race of spacefarers across the cosmos to find any sort of outside life in the wake of Meteion's whole apocalyptic meltdown is a pretty neat story.

Witnessed someone get super salty at an alliance failing the DPS check during the promathia fight. After bitching a little too much he got told to calm down.
On the next fight and towards the end, someome gets a stack marker then begins moving sideways and jumping around so all three alliances have to chase his retarded ass. Turns out it was the guy from earlier, who over 10 minutes later was still seething over a single alliance failing the dps check and when asked what his problem was he said "I thought the game was supposed to be fun?"
I wish we had wiped there so the jackass had gotten flamed, because one thing is for an alliance (out of three) to fuck up a mechanic and another is to go out of your way like that because you are that butthurt.
Glad this is not a common occurence in alliance raids because not enough people queue for them as it is.

Since I just cursed the stupid fucking localisers for calling a fucking calf a "they" I was wondering if anyone here knows how good/bad the French and German translations are. Are they just as cursed or are they free of pronoun and tranny nonsense? It would feel so weird changing the text language to either, but I'm seriously annoyed by the EN team.

On an unrelated note, I'm doing the first tier of Arcadion and basically get most if not all gear tokens after the fights. Feels nice playing catch up.

I've not seen a wipe on Promathia from that myself. I have seen a wipe on Shinryu Paradox because people didn't soak the towers. And then when someone asked what happened you had some moron tell people "it's because healers are not supposed to soak the towers". Like what, I've soaked the towers as Whm plenty of times.

I must be unlucky then because every other alliance I'm in, we got at least one person who bitches when someone pulls while someone is in a cutscene. Like, it's not that serious, they can just join in afterwards and the alliance is like several weeks old at this point. You're not going to force 23 other people to wait for one fucking person, that's retarded. If it bothers them that much they have 2 options: watch the cutscene later in their journal at an inn or, play something that doesn't require you trying to boss 23 other people around.

Seriously, you can't expect every stranger on the internet to behave how you want or have the manners you want them to have.

I'm not sure about French, but the German translation had some blatant pozloading show up for the most recent Halloween event:

The gender specials have taken control of the German translation (at least it's the first time I noticed). For context, the traditional gender neutral way to refer to everyone is the same as the male form (here: "Abenteurer"), the "(w/m/d)" means "female/male/other" to make sure that the specials feel addressed.
It's probably safe to say the Japanese script would have the least retardation in it. You can try using Echoglossian or TataruHelper to machine translate from Japanese to any language you want.

I can't think of an intro cutscene that's important to watch.

I usually let people watch them before pulling but who cares. Oh no the healer's in a cutscene well I can solo this shit basically so, whenever they finish it they can start pressing their buttons.

So what do you guys think of Azem?
I'm getting the sinking feeling we're actually going to meet him and sort of rehash what we did with ardbert already
I suspect we will meet another shard of Azem like we did with Ardbert.

The question is will they make it any fun or just boring as fuck.

I feel like meeting another "us" who takes a different stance on the current predicament (maybe sides with the Winterers?), serving as a foil over the expansion, before finally reconciling wouldn't be too bad.

So funny detail about the troon colored Cosmic Exploration mount.

The Triple Triad card accompanying it (because of course that particular one needed to have a TT card) explains that its main purpose is to haul shit (fertilizer) around.

Had my first death, friend brought me over to a level 50 S rank hunt mark. I got the rewards but spontaneously blew up for a lot of damage right as it died. I guess I should try to get to level 50 to get access to regular content for Poetics? Augmented Ironworks accessories would really help the current bind I have of "no vendors selling good accessories past 30" at the moment.

Also had a near wipe today due to a tank deciding to wall to wall and the newbie healer couldn't cope, me and the other Dragoon were left standing after that. Tank apologised and stopped being a tard, and the rest of the dungeon went smooth!

Stone Vigil?

A good habit to have when it comes to doing roulettes as a tank is to always check the healer out in case they are new to the class or dungeon. Because a tank(thats not a bitch) will most of the time just go wall to wall to clear fast disregarding the poor healer.

Disregard this if youre a high level Warrior since you really dont need a healer after a certain point as long as you can manage sustain efficiency.

You mean the dungeon? It was Temple of Qarn (got great gear out of it at least).

Yeah, my buddy normally plays Dark Knight when we're playing together (since he has Paladin maxed) and tanks in general. He can spot straight away in one pull how good the healer is. The one time we had a good scholar we started to do wall to walls. Hell, earlier I had a wall to wall dungeon run with a gunbreaker tank in a random party, had no problems.

I made an educated guess at least. Stone Vigil has a lot of tight corners where noob healers will often fall out of line of sight when a tank sprints ahead. I know because I was the noob healer. Wall to wall pulling is the standard in this game and even a noob can usually keep up by just spamming their regular heal. As a Scholar I often clear ARR dungeons without pressing a single heal spell because the fairy does all your work for you.

If it's Temple of Qarn, I'm willing to bet what killed the tank was the fucking bees. The Killer Bee enemies that show up in a couple pulls have a cast called Final Sting which does far more damage than any other unavoidable attack at that level and catches out parties even without a noob. That is to say it wasn't necessarily the healer's fault; early game dungeons will otherwise let you stand in AoEs to your heart's content.
The intended way to deal with the bees is to focus and kill or stun them before they can cast, which is something only melees and tanks can do. White Mage gets a mass stun spell but not at that level.

I wish I could say it's a good lesson for later dungeons for DPS to learn to use Low Blow as a mitigation skill against powerful mobs... but sadly there's no enemies that do this kind of trick in later dungeons. The weird little details like this only exist in ARR so its mostly just fun trivia.

I did notice some of the dungeons in DT had mobs that would randomly do untelegraphed mini busters. I think the flying enemies on Alexandria before or after the first boss, it is either after a certain amount of time they have been engaged or at a certain HP level. Little things like that, if they used them more, would be good I think.
Also the doll enemies at the end of the circus/fairground dungeon, you can stagger stuns on those to limit the damage they put out. But by level 100 the only real danger to a tank is 8+ mobs autoattacking while you forget how to push buttons.
