also doesn't every story mandated fight have the support duty? I'm vastly behind on post game so I could be wrong
Nope, for some reason only Necron has Duty Support, every other trial doesn't. I had to wait ages for Zelenia to pop when I was going through the MSQ because all max level characters that'd queue trial roulette are on the raiding DCs.

I was watching shadowbringer cutscenes on YouTube and man seeing the scions actually have conflict and get mad at each other, God I miss good writing

"Throw wide the gates!" Yoshi-P chants, as he unleashes the Frenchies and Russians onto the rest of EU
Considering half of Light had to put up with them before the DC split, they're just getting their long overdue share.
Personally I don't have issues with queues on Chaos but I mostly queue as support jobs which also makes a difference. Plus turning on all languages in your DF settings (cogwheel in the corner). Seen a lot of people complain about queue times but have only D enabled or something. Usually if you're doing anything between half an hour before reset up until midnight ST you should be fine on Chaos. Outside that it gets more questionable. Cross-DC DF is going to be both a blessing and a curse given how the worst shitters I do get in Chaos duties are people from Light, and the worst roulette experiences I've had were on Light.

bro I found a literal hole in the wall cafe that someone is ruining out of their apartment when checking PF

....
What a fucking idiot. It's almost unbelievable how retarded this is. This dumb motherfucker could not just fucking wait and wants to risk a permaban all because he wants to participate in a "race" that isn't even fucking acknowledged in any official capacity.
If he does get the permanent boot, I will not feel bad for him whatsoever, the stupid cunt asked for it and he can thank his stupid gay friend for helping him get kicked out for good because he can't keep his faggot mouth shut.
The dumbest fucking thing is that he isn't officially in the "race", he's just livestreaming prog because he knows he will never obtain "world first" or whatever the fuck. Dumb cunt is putting his career at risk just because he believes he can get away with it.

You're seeing redditors screaming about it, saying how his whole group should be perma'd for facilitating it too (which would be a horrendously retarded decision). If anything beyond some tard nameslipping SE would rather confirm with something like hardware ID matching or anything else they have to spot socks. He's still a fucking idiot for trying to alt in a raid rather than just being a comms guy in the mean time.

Also in other news I'm looking at trying out FF14 with the free trial on recommendations from a few friends of mine. The fuck should I do starting out, and what should I expect? I see my friends mainly run supports (mainly tanks) so I think starting out I'll pick Dragoon since I've always been a fan of spears and such.

Pretty much all you really have to worry about is doing the Main Story Quests, they'll be marked with a specific quest marker. Any quest markers you see that are just a generic exclamation mark are side quests, some of them can have a bit of interesting side story but are 100% skip able. The markers with a plus in the bottom right hand corner indicate content unlocks. As for what to start out as, Lancer/Dragoon is fine, most of the base ARR jobs play well enough, but don't feel like you are locked in to one thing, you can always unlock the others later. Regardless of DC and server expect lots of the usual LGBTWTFBBQ+ shit in every major hub and for it to be infesting Party Finder once you unlock that too. If you're playing with friends that will help a lot as they can probably help you come to grips with some of FFXIV's many obtuse mechanics and systems. The main downsides to free trial is you can't create parties, only join ones that invite you, you can't sell on the Market Board, you can't trade with other players, and a few other restrictions, but you currently have access to all content to the end of Shadowbringers, so 80 levels of content.

Yeah I heard you apparently MSQ for one class, and use the xp from side shit to bring up other classes at the same time thanks to level scaling down.

So I'd basically be playing in a sort of Ironman mode for the trial? Interesting.

My friends also told me how to filter out keywords and such to filter the Party Finder. Very funny to be on call with them and people watching in the hubs and laughing at the dregs spotted, what is it with Russians and playing gay bunny men?

No one actually cares, it's just virtue signalling as usual. Xeno has never been world first nor does anyone have any stake in him racing or not. It's just pissing and moaning cause he called a retarded bitch a retarded bitch that was rightfully fired.

To your second point, typically you just focus on running down the MSQ until you're done. There's only a few optional dungeons between ARR and Heavensward, everything after that is part of the MSQ or is MSQ adjacent. As far as jobs go, you can play whatever but generally you should stick to a main job until it is at the level cap so you can get an XP bonus for your lower level jobs.

Stormblood has Shisui of the Violet Tides that is an optional unlock as well.

Yeah none of the people who are organizing this witch hunt is taking a moral stand for the sanctity of SE's TOS and against ban evasion or whatever, they're just seething because Xeno called a spade a spade and are jumping on any excuse he gives them to go cry to the SE jannies. This whole debacle is just a bunch of raging trannies going after him because he dared to say something bad about another troon, nothing more, nothing less.

Now to be clear, Xeems is kind of a tard too, for first letting himself get egged on into saying something bannable when he should have remembered that his entire income hinges on being able to play this game (and it's not the first time he's gotten people mad enough to mass report him for talking shit on stream, either), but also for doing such a shit job of pretending he's not ban evading.
But I have way more sympathy with him for saying what we're all thinking and getting mobbed for it than I will ever have with any of the trannies seething about him calling a spade a spade.

playing through the post patch and wow, a hateable villain with clear motives that I really want to beat up??????
Where the fuck was this during Yawantrail???

One of the major issues is that playing a DPS comes with very long queue times normally. If you have active friends to play with, this'll probably be a non-issue for most content, especially if they mainly play supports like you say. Square has added the ability to play through most mandatory content with a party of AI, but they're pretty dogshit on purpose so that they aren't faster than playing with actual humans, so that is always something you can use if your friends aren't available too.

Echoing @King Of Braves you should just stick to one class for the most part (unless you really do not enjoy it and want to experiment, that's totally fine). The reason for this is that when you have one job that is higher level than the job you're currently playing, you get a hefty experience bonus to help you catch up to your highest level job. Once you have a job at the level cap, it makes leveling every other job much quicker thanks to this xp buff.

I will add, with 8.0 adding "Evolved" jobs that will completely change up how jobs are designed at low levels, it might be worth waiting until then unless your friends are really insistent on you starting now. I find most jobs are insufferably undercooked until you're level 70+ and this update should fix that. But if you're a new player, maybe you won't care as much.

Not going to lie, at this point of the expac and with how much jobs are changing, it's better to just wait for Evercold to drop and then start your free trial.

Pick whichever class aesthetically the most appeals to you (and has good animations for Lalafell if you are playing that. The way Lalas run around holding a reaper scythe or the viper twinblades looks bad).

Feel free to play tank if one of the tank jobs looks the most aesthetically appealing to you. Tank and DPS roles are nearly identical in playstyle, the only thing tank does different is that they click a toggle to turn on aggro, rotate between their defensives on cooldown, and put up their active mitigation button when they see a cast bar going off on the boss (usually the tankbuster). That's it. All dungeons in this game have been reworked into corridors and there are walls preventing you from pulling more than 2 or 3 packs. Mobs in this game have no dangerous abilities. You do not need to research a fight before doing it like in WoW.

Whenever you finish a base X.0 box storyline, go do the other major side storylines (8 man raid story, 8 man trial storyline, 24 man raid storyline) first before resuming the main patch storyline. Except for ARR 2.X. ARR has no trial side storyline, and the 8 man raid story is too difficult to do, so skip that and only do the 24 man.

Guess that means I'd stick with queuing with my friend(s) whenever at least one of them is online to avoid shit queues until I level up Dragoon enough to then go around and play catchup on other classes. I'd rather not play a midge nor some flavour of furry/scalie, so good ol' human it is.

Friend actually showed me 1st Coil of Bahamut on stream while he was doing it on sync with randoms. I'll ask him about 2nd and final coil, but Twintania didn't look that bad.

Think after Dragoon I'd try Paladin, Warrior, or Dark Knight. Considering it's my first hotbar MMO I'll likely be saving everyone from the floor half the time for a fair while.
