Yeah, leveling DPS is rough when you have to deal with an extremely slow tank or terrible healer bottlenecking the speed of the run. I miss leveling tanks because you can just carry most dungeons.
I've personally never felt dps was any better or worse than other roles. If I try to think of the worst roulette run I've ever had it was me as a tank with a scholar who couldn't locate any other healing button outside of physick. Though they left after I said something and then got replaced by a better healer.

I grow a bit more convinced you happen to live in a completely different timeline from the rest of us somehow.

I feel like the stat squish defanged Bardum somewhat. I'm hardly the best healer, but I've healed it several times since EW with first time tanks and it didn't seem as bad as it used to be.
Huh, that's interesting to hear then. Bardam used to be extremely ballbusting to heal in ShB when you get a levelling tank for me as a SCH (who naturally lose half their toolkit at that fucking level too).

I can confirm that Bardam's is still a bit ballbusting to heal.

On barrier healers specifically. White Mages get to cheat a bit with Holy spam.
If they remember that Holy is a button they can press and they don't just stand 5 feet away from the action and healbot/one button spam because "cleave/AoE scawy".

Did I mention that leveling Sage made me hate Healer role, even when I'm not playing a Healer? Because knowing how Sage works now, as well as having the basic gist of how every other healer works through osmosis and occasional research when I offhandedly see a dumbass on social media say some dumbass things about what they can and can't do, and constantly seeing both Sages and White Mages standing 5 feet away from any trash mob at any given moment fills me with a profound sense of butt frustration.

Of course, we don't live in the times where you could feasibly yell at retards to stop being retarded and get up in there so they can use their fucking AoE, so I frequently have to sit there and silently stew in it, while hoping that the DPS aren't being equally as braindead and lazy with the AoE that I also know that every last one of them has.

Incidentally, it has come to my attention that I've not logged into the game for most of the week now. Something about the new Treasure Hunt going live, coupled together with the safe assumption that the current weekly tomestone is probably going to change with the next patch, has sapped all my motivation to do my weekly grinds. Especially since I finished getting all my crafters to 90.

Normally I don't pay attention to what other people are doing unless I'm forced to such as when I have to play healer(Pay attention to people's health) or tank(Did someone aggro some of the pack before I was done pulling?) so I don't really have an idea in my head of how long dungeons are 'supposed' to take and I don't check whether healers are AOEing or stuff like that. I just zone out and press my own buttons until shit's dead.

The first pull tends to be 50/50 on whether or not we wipe if I run it as a tank, and that's with literally using all of my cooldowns, including invul and potions.

Gulg is like 75/25 (in favor of wiping) and there's a few others that can still cause issues. Dzemael Darkhold, Stone Vigil (even post dev tweak), and a couple of others can be crapshoots, even as much as they've idiot proofed anything MSQ related.

Oddly enough I don't think I've ever had issues tanking or healing Gulg despite how wild the first wall-to-wall can get. Holminster's Switch, on the other hand...

I fondly remember watching tanks get absolutely crushed by Holminster's upon release. It never stopped being the case but seeing the weak willed excuses upon facing anything modestly dangerous was pure comedy.

I tank 99.9999% of the time and I always try for w2w. Gulg is one of the few where it can still be a shitshow if the healer isn't on top of their game. Bardam's is another.

I also feel like we have this conversation like every 2-3 months, haha.

The Gulg pull is fun though.

Whenever an ARR dungeon pops and I see the healer's geared I ask them if they want to get into some shit. ARR dungeons weren't designed for w2w pulls so it's interesting. I've done the first room in Aurum Vale and the double ice sprite pack in Stone Vigil successfully.

Only one I have yet to get is Dzemael with the six pack pull starting with the toads (this is probably impossible.)

Man, you ask first?

I really am an asshole, then, because I just go for it. And if we wipe or I notice the healer seriously struggling to keep up, I'll slow it down to accommodate.

Best I've done is 3 pack pull at the start and stopping around the corner to gather the souls together with the rest of the pack. There's a lot of new healers in that dungeon who won't sprint and will easily lose LoS on you due to the tight turns, so pulls beyond double is a risk. The entire pull might be possible with a competent Astrologian + Warrior for Holmgang, but I can't see this being done with random sprouts.

Imagine not having the card mount.

I don't like to say I'm better than anyone, but my lovely magicked card does it for me.
I have it too, definitely one of the more interesting ways to brag to someone about having completed a long and droning side objective for the sake of a mount, since getting a good chunk of the cards required to obtain the card mount demands you do stuff like the BLU Job questlines, progress in Bozja and Eureka, and even do specific generic yellow questlines just to unlock certain NPC's for TT matches that yield specific cards.

Most of the time besides knowing how to play TT and exploiting tactics against the AI, it's also a matter of luck with drop rates from Trial boss fights of which most of them are thankfully locked behind the normal versions, (Fuck the Thordan EX-exclusive one though, the transitions in that take for-fucking-ever!) and getting lucky with loot rolls from cards that guaranteed drop at the end of Alliance Raid dungeons.

But for me the most annoying card to get was where you have to place 1st overall in one of those bi-2 hour held TT tournaments near the main vendor in the Gold Saucer. I can tolerate just sucking and/or a case of bad luck against AI opponents in case not enough folks register, but that it's only available every 2 hours makes trying to gun for it such a potential timesink.

Aurum Vale really isn't that hard if your party can hug the walls. But people are fucking retards and will walk into the middle of the room, oblivious.

I really hate how AV is this meme instance of death and suffering. Yeah, it was slightly harder and the pissbabies pissbabied and got it fixed.

You can w2w just about anything if the healer is on the ball or even halfways competent. But it's a fucking shitshow a lot of the time.

The Dzemael pull is doable, but I needed to time the Sticky Tongue procs and use a potion to survive it. Also, LoSing into the boss room so those little ghost fuckers don't Stone you to death also helps....but you'll get idiots who will waltz right in and aggro the boss.

It's generally more trouble than it's worth.

What's a good resource or youtube channel with updated vids for dungeon runs I should be watching as a newb tank. I'm tired of getting yelled at to go watch a raid video as a sprout for wanting to experience dungeons blind.

If it's dungeons, run it with Trusts first and figure out the mechanics. Addendum: Dungeon running isn't even remotely complicated as a Tank and you shouldn't be struggling too hard to warrant complaints unless you're dealing with crybaby tryhards who can't cut you some slack for being a sprout.

If it's casual 8-mans or 24-man raids, let someone else Main Tank and learn as you go along.

If it's Extremes or Savage, why aren't you looking up guides beforehand.

Aurum Vale, and getting yelled at by the dps for not pulling the mobs off them while they keep running ahead of me and dragging mobs in from the area then bitching at me for not agro pulling everything. Since you guys were talking about it I figured I should ask for a guide post patch. My husband who was being a extremely distracted healer told me to just go watch a video despite letting us wipe. Just demoralized and kinda not having fun now...

Oh, fuck those people. Does AV just attract shitters lately or something? I had a group of retards that kept trying to pull ahead of me one of the last times I was in there as well, so I just let a couple of their faggot asses drop before establishing aggro. I can easily wall to wall with the best of them, but I'm not gonna tolerate Mentor crown-wearing shitters acting like little pissants, especially if there's a sprout or two in the same party.

It sounds like you were dealing with exactly the sort of crybaby tryhards I was talking about. If they were proudly wearing their Burger King crowns next to their names, and especially if they were sporting any "Legend" titles, you should completely disregard their bullshit.

You don't even need to watch a video to figure out dungeon, the fuck? Tell your husband to stop being a retarded healer and get his shit together.
