Now this may offend certain parties of the fairer sex who are regulars in this thread, but, I must declare from both experience and observation that women and XIV are a particularly potent mix of batshittery, even by MMO standards.

Then again, I know a guy who married a woman at least 10-20 years older than him because she was the first one that ever threw some pussy his way, and they met through WoW. And now she's constantly putting him into debt because she wants to constantly drag him on vacations he can't afford. So maybe it really is more of an MMO thing in general, and I'm just letting confirmation bias convince me that XIV has a higher concentration of Crazy Bitch.

I can at least tell you that there is no offense taken in my case and that you're absolutely correct.
Most of the other female population I've come across have been obnoxious, attention obsessed cunts. My biggest pet peeve is their need to constantly farm attention from desperate and lonely men who show even a micron of attraction and then go on to claim them as their properly that they use exclusively to wank off their own egos, throwing an absolute bitch fit if their harem of men pay attention to anyone else over them.

If you're not constantly feeding their god complex, they become clingy and insufferable and guilt trip and gaslight you into spending time only with them and talking only with them. This also includes trying to isolate them from their friends or butting into any business they engage in without them in an attempt to make themselves the center of attention once more.

They get especially gleeful when they "steal" a man from another woman, gloating at the attention they recieve, all under a thinly veiled act of uwu.

Also slightly on topic: How hard is this game to get into now? I've quit halfway through Stormblood twice as I'm a retard that makes a new character when I return to "experience the story."

The game has a "New game +" mode now, you can go back and play past quests without much trouble if you ever want to check changes or whatever else, you could use that as your "get our of rerolling" card.

Can't blame you about quitting halfway through stormblood tough, it's arse.

I have heard plenty of success stories of people finding their spouse through World of Warcraft. People develop a love for each other through shared experiences, and World of Warcraft *was* a shared experience. You're talking to each other over ventrilo or teamspeak, killing dragons, getting to know that person emotionally and know their mind, and you fall in love with who they are, not just what they look like, so when you finally meet in real life you have a bond that goes beyond infatuation, so when they get married their emotional life isn't as nearly as disturbed by the cycle of infatuation. You're getting married at the height of the physical part, which is really enjoyable, rather than what most people do now is getting married at the tail end of that where they are having sex for three or four years and then they get married because of the constraints of modern society, so their sexual interest in each other is waning by the time they get married. No wonder why so many people struggle with marriage nowadays. People get married when they are no longer sexually interested in each other, so they have sexless, unenjoyable marriages and get divorced.

I doubt that success story happens as much today. WoW is the only MMO that still revolves around raiding, and even then the conditions that bonded people together to become real life friends through that game no longer exist. The shrinkage from 40 man raids to 25 to 10, the addition of LFG and personal loot which made guilds unnecessary and lead to the mercenary mentality of PUGing, increasing quality of life features such as teleports and the eliminations of barriers to entry has made the raid experience less and less involving, etc.

There was also probably some filtering of women here, as raiding in WoW was a commitment. You had to do your homework outside of raid (ie gather reagents, setup your talents and practice your rotation), abide by the word of your guild officers, show up on time and stick with the program for a few hours even if it doesn't feel like you are making progress and you are unlikely to get anything to show for it immediately (40 person raid, one player can wear 16 pieces of gear so that's 640 slots total, but there might only be 20 pieces of loot that will drop that week, and certain people are going to get gear funneled to them first like tanks and healers. You might not receive anything for several weeks). You're definitely not going to find a good woman at a bar or a night club.

I haven't personally had bad experiences with the women I've played with here and there in MMOs, but I also don't tend to simp for or woo them. That may just be the ticket, though I do also have a tendency to just drop from groups, guilds, et-al where it's pretty clear that it's a bunch of weird losers all vying for some bint's attention. Probably makes me miss out on some funny shit, though.

I’m new to FFXIV and am early in the game. I hear it gets a lot better once you get to the expansions, but it is pretty relaxing just doing side quests right now. The intro was rough but I think this is something I’ll stick with. Thank god for the free trial.

The community is definitely something I’d rather not interact with though.

Don't know why the hell you'd play an MMO with no interest in playing with anyone else. You can manage it now with NPCs to run through some of the content but you have to go through dungeons and the like with other players. Honestly most data centers you'll be just fine.

Really all the horror stories being told here aren't unique or started by XIV. People just suck and they can leave an awful taste in your mouth when they go full GIFT.

Your average play experience may not go too terribly considering you're new, but once you really start learning the game, you'll start keying in to how many people are fucking stupid.

If you're not going to bother doing it synced, I recommend getting someone to help you do the Bahamuth Raids unsynced before you enter Heavensward, it adds important context to the world and main quest, and helps develop the twins a lot, it will pay off if you decide to fully invest your time into the story

No if I have to play with other players I will if things get hard, and I am also playing with the free trial. I have to play solo until stormblood anyway. But most of the time I’d rather solo even if I had the option to play with people.

After trying to complete this tier with party finder and giving up out of frustration I decided to never step into that dumpsterfire again. I've had much better experiences with statics even if my last one fell apart cause people got burnt out.

Party Finder can indeed be a shithole sometimes with folks just getting upset and it spiraling out of control when one person fucks up, then the same or another person fucks up at one mechanic or the other and people just lose focus/tolerance with strangers, especially in either supposed reclear runs or 'progress after x mechanic' because you can easily get trapped with people who haven't done said mechanic at all and are just winging it.

When I got my clear of P8S last year I still remember how it was well late into the night on a supposed prog into clear run from High Concept #1 and only in like the last 12 minutes where this would have been lockout, we got that damn clear and I was so thankful for my team putting up with the mistakes and me just being honest about it on my end. Sometimes it can be good with actual decent folks but most of the time, yeah I can understand your grievances.

I'd wish I could find a static but due to work can't really find any real static that works for me or raid at optimal times even in the evening so I'm stuck at either PF roulette of chance or just not bothering until the weekly limit is removed/becomes outdated with next patch.

As a healer, every time I queue for something and get a useless fucking tank who only knows how to press one singular mitigation button whilst pulling wall to wall makes me want to gouge my fucking eyes out of my eye sockets because that would be less painful than carrying their soft baby asses all through the dungeon.

Why are braindead retards so adverse to pressing buttons in this game? YOU HAVE COOLDOWNS, USE THEM. Why is it that every time I heal, I get dps that have the damage output of a fucking wet tissue paper and a tank that thinks pressing any other mitigation other than the only one they know how to press will kill them? Why is it that every time I tank, I'm constantly on the verge of death despite using all my mitigations accordingly because my healer is too much of a smooth brained jackass who stands there and spams the tier 1 heal spell over and over and over or the one white mage that wants to stand all the fuck way over in the middle of no where and spam holy spells that don't actually fucking hit anything.

Holy fucking shit I am mad.

It's the lack of fresh stuff that's mostly leaving the late to the party players or giant morons remaining in party finder. So you have nothing but water on the brain tanks trundling headlong into death backed by Cure 3 spamming WHMs. Also Mechanists. So many fucking mechanists. Swear its inevitable to get one and they're so ineffectual right now.
