The necklace I heard is supposedly made out of sterling silver. If that's true, then the price tracks.
 
Friend brought this to my attention.

TL;DR: One of the big modding servers for XIV on Discord got shut down by a person who, apparently, manipulated the owners into passing them ownership just so they could delete the whole server because, by their testimony, the server was "toxic" and filled with admins/mods making fun of people in private channels and generally talking shit to people who asked for help with mods.

They also made their own version of the server after deleting the original. With blackjack and hookers.

Imagine being in a community where the mods and admins may talk shit about you not only to your face, but occasionally behind your back. How absolutely abhorrent.

Also amused me a bit that they claim what they did wasn't a "powertrip", but, really, given the content of their testimony, it pretty much was a textbook-definition powertrip. Also that they claim to be an "experienced roleplayer" in their profile, but you can see they struggle pretty hard with properly articulating their own message. Just more examples of the XIV playerbase being a bit batshit.

Summary: This Krisan Thyme individual was advertising other people's mods through some Gumroad function. Said Gumroad function suddenly introduced automatic cuts of any sales made through Krisan's advertising so that he also earned some kickback off of the sales. Krisan was, by his testimony, not wholly aware this function existed until he started getting emails about the money Gumroad was sending him for his advertising. Some of the modders he was advertising the work of proceeded to throw a public shitfit, drag him in their Discord servers, have conniptions over the fact that he wasn't answering them fast enough, accused him of thievery and "stealing their money" – which, in one case, ended up accumulating to about $155 worth of advertising revenue – and basically more or less harassed him into paying them all back under threat of being "blacklisted" from modding circles.

I'm told, all things considered, $155 is practically a drop in the bucket for someone like that Nera person, who charges $20-30 for their mods alone.

All of this is ultimately pushing modders, especially "paywall" modders, inadvertently to a place where Square Enix could likely crack down even harder on modders, as they're already violating ToS with their mods, and even more so by forcing others to pay for their unauthorized modifications to the software, especially as these little episodes continue to become more and more openly publicized.

And I am all for the modding community digging their own graves here if they're going to keep acting this retarded and entitled about their work. No skin off my nose as a strictly vanilla player.
 
If they're that angry about wanting to make money off of mods, maybe they should use their talents to make their own game instead of trying to profit off the back of a successful game through means in which is against the ToS of said game. Or I dunno..maybe make mods for fun and not because you want to be a greedy jackass.

I swear, modders are by the far, the absolute worst this shitstain on a white blanket community shits out. They act like a bunch of self righteous, entitled brats with massive egos who think because they are able to change some assets in a game that's already made somehow makes them some messiah figure. All the while they act like smug cunts towards anyone who doesn't play on PC and drone on about "PC master race" because they are able to mod massive tits onto a fucking lala and put 20 foot long cocks on all female models.

Like, I understand the people who just want to take nice pictures or make the game a little more brighter. But everyone and everything else can fuck right off.
 
It's funnier when you consider, as I've been informed, that a lot of mods are just asset rips from other games – usually like Genshin, Black Desert Online, and some other Chinese/East Asian spyware MMOs. I wouldn't be surprised if people's sculpts are just straight up recreations of obscure (by Western world standards) Korean models, considering that seems to be the trend.

And these modders want to consider themselves akin to "starving artists".
 
This current conversation reminds me of something I saw a couple of days ago. Apparently there's a popular addon that for April fools implemented a feature that would make your character emote on the login screen as a prank. For most people this would just result in a laugh and/or making a post on discord or twitter going "Does anyone else have this?" but it seems like in japanese fandom spaces this caused a minor controversy cause they're so much stricter with addons so a bunch of people outed themselves as being filthy third party tool users. Allegedly that one Hrothgar player in the fourth image who made a post about it on the official forums deleted their character over it.

So, in light of the previous story I mentioned, and if anyone did any snooping around under those tweets, it appears that a resource called The Accursed Hoard has popped up, which is intended to serve as a collection/archive for pirating paywalled mods.

The owner has published a manifesto describing their intention. (Archive)

Speaking of any updates on the macro shit? Last I check THAT was also up in flames cuz of similiar drama bullshit, but less degeneracy and more "LOLMONKNOMOD" bullshit.

Kiwi Free Company could be incredibly risky, given how unhinged some members of the community are. And yes, they 100% will mass report your account once they find out there is a Kiwi FC.
Next, Eureka - There are great guides on the Internet, and even community Discords. Those will be your only chance to succeed in Baldesion's Arsenal, btw. I think there is a skill you can get once you unlock the third area that lets you reflect magic. Some enemies only attack using magic, so you can literally just aggro those mobs and watch them kill themselves. That is a fast way to level. You can get pretty broken with certain skill combinations, and I have seen a Warrior solo like 20-30 mobs on his level without breaking a sweat. But yeah, before you reach the third area, the grind is atrocious. If you can, get a group going with friends or just ask around in chat once you are in a Eureka area. Other than that, do your Eureka weeklies, try to join every FATE that is not more than 3 levels above you and I guess have fun. If you enjoy old school MMO grinding, you will enjoy Eureka! Plus some of the drops are pretty sweet.
 
Also Eureka has relics and pretty sweet looking armor. They might make it soloable in the near future.

I remember when I tried connecting with anons from 8chan, and it was a mistake honestly. They where massive fags (sorta unsurprising) and despite having a private linkshell, policed what was said. They eventually started inviting non-anons in and I just gave up. I hear 4chan's groups are even worse. Not sure if I would want to be disappointed with Kiwis here as well.
