Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Still, id say the end of endwalker would've been much improved if
Zenos popped up like this in a random destroyed civilization sewer

That being said, the final dungeon just made me wish we got to see more snippets of the destroyed civilizations, the overworld was too (suitably) barren, and getting the aumarot treatment for more planets and shit spread across the story would've been kinda interesting

My one gripe with Zenos is that I wish he had this pathos in Stormblood.

I'm near the end, had to take off before the last dance. I'll sperg later.

The level to which SE has shit the bed on this whole queue situation is really something to behold. A fun game is to bring it up in in-game chat and watch rabid fanboys flock to SE's defense explain how dey dindu nuffin dey just need sum money fo dem servers.
I mean, even hospitals and military installations are having trouble getting networking hardware and servers. I think it's at least fair to give SE some slack for having trouble getting something that even entities with government-backed contracts can't easily get.

Fate Grinding is worth doing too, in the EW zones. It gets you at least decent EXP (in between an MSQ and a Side Quest for each one), unlocks riding maps and orchestrion rolls, and once you have them all completed you can get the fate vouchers which sell for a pretty penny right now (although that price will fall eventually).

When Meteion was giving her initial report I had the feeling that each one sounded like a pretty decent Star Trek TOS episode and had that feeling again when we saw some of them at the end. Right down to being able to hear Kirk give a final summary of "Well, Mr. Spock, I guess in finding perfection, they lost their way and simply had no reason to live." at the end of the episode

I mean, I'm sure everyone has that moment when they first learn of heat death where they have their babies' first existential crisis. But it is a little silly that almost every other species in the known universe seems to share the trait of having a unified mentality taken to such an extreme where practically not a single individual has enough of a mind to hear of something like that and instead go "Fuck it, who cares, I'm gonna keep doing what I want anyway. Dying's gay."

But then again, the situation's also contextualized in such a way that it's outright speculated that the Meteia saw maybe a small handful of civilizations that had bad ends and inadvertently went "I'M SO SAD BY THIS THAT I'M GONNA DESTROY LITERALLY EVERY OTHER CIVILIZATION THAT I COME ACROSS. WHAT IS A SELF-FULFILLING PROPHECY?"

the general implication that i got is that Meteia and her clones sentenced more than a couple civilizations when it was more than possible that their despair was temporary or avoidable, projecting her own nihilism and naivete upon planets that maybe still had a chance

How they made that final duty one of my favorite moments of the expansion I have no idea.

It was nice they gave us the option to not be a goody two shoes and admit we are a crazy violent psychopath too.
The smirk your character makes using that reply makes it it the best one

I'm almost positive it is mentioned or hinted that this implication happened somewhere (like the journals in the last MSQ dungeon). It is also possible that The scout Meteions and these civilizations basically circle jerked each other into nihilism. As Meteion can so thoroughly read emotions and minds, she could have sensed depression, got depressed herself, proceeds to feed into that throughout the dialogue with these people and it just spirals into a planet wide suicide cult. Which is why Meteion on Elpis corrupted upon giving the report, as she took in all those outcomes at once.

I'm going to reinstall XI in the meantime if anyone wants to join me.
I’ll consider it but I’m burnt out after playing it from US release to mid Seekers. Also everything is endgame now and gear heavy with people using up to literally 17 different gear sets for a single job to play. Just look up the sheer autism on the XI subreddit. From what I’ve seen people pretty much demand you get one of the many relic weapons which are far worse to grind for than XIV. I was so close to getting one of those for my Samurai, spending over a year grinding trials with my LS buddies and helping them out with their relics for it until my LS ditched me when Seekers revealed Delve weapons which were supposedly superior at the time. They basically told me not to waste my time making one and to join them in getting weapons from Seekers. Now relics are apparently better with ilevel buffs.

Also the playerbase is just as annoying as XIV but in different ways. Most of them are boomers drunk on nostalgia glorifying the “good old days” of exp grind parties and artificial difficulty. Even though back then everybody hated forced grouping, the game being difficult, and exp parties. In fact I remember many players back in the day jumping ship to WoW when it was released and most didn’t come back.

They also get mad if you point out bad and dated gameplay designs, saying “it’s supposed to be that way” or “stop wanting everything to be easy it was even harder back then.” There are quite a few people who hate XIV with a burning passion and get really mad seeing praise for it. A lot of them hold great contempt for Yoshi-P especially 1.0 fans (yeah 1.0 still has huge defenders and people who praise Tanaka) who hate that he didn’t make ARR the dream XI sequel they wanted. To be fair all these people are on online communities so I don’t know if this behavior is carried over in game.

I might actually go back for a bit and join you but I have to see if I can get POL to cooperate with me.

Why does Venat's golden retriever minion and mount make me laugh hysterically?
Because it looks like if they cast Gweneth Paltrow as a dog in a low budget animated kids film in the 2000s.

ETA: Is anyone else feeling DRG is really weak? Or am I really just that bad? I run ACT to make sure I'm keeping up with people well enough and I'm bottoming out hard, compared to the end of ShB where I didn't really have to try that much at all.

According to FF14 logs it lands a little above the middle of the pack

Why does every person online talking about DoH/DoL specify "I only spent like 40 leves and did most of it with collectables turn-ins"

they nerfed coffee biscuits nigga, there ain't nothing for you to spend leves on once you've leveled your tradeskills unless you're still trying to get Honest Gillionaire

Forced grouping is cancer the way XI did it back in the day. You needed groups to do literally anything, including unlocking jobs that would make it more likely that you could even get into groups. Doing group content in XI is also what convinced me that the average Japanese MMO player is possibly even more cancerous and smoothbrained than their western counterparts.

Stopped playing sometime in Treasures I think (whenever Burning Crusade came out), Apparently the story is pretty good in later expacs but I find unironic MMO boomers tiresome to be around so the community that still exists puts me off from coming back.

I haven't played in a couple years, and only played through the base story. If all you want is to play the story, FFXI is pretty much a single player game these days with trusts

In terms of melee dps, according to fflogs the ranks seem to go:

Rpr = Mnk > Sam > Drg = Nin

The "=" means they're so incredibly close that the difference is like 50 dps between the two. Upper end is about just under 7.1K in Zodiark EX vs just under 6.7k is the bottom end so we're at about a 5% or so difference.

It's weird to see NIN so low. Job's busy enough that I feel like they deserve to be rewarded with something other than Trick Attack every 2m.
