Finished ARR a few days ago. 3 key takeaways: Nanamo thinking democracy would work was hard to sit though. I was screaming "you naive idiot" internally every time she brought it up. Didn't think they'd off her off though so that was a good twist. Naming the company Crystal Braves should have earned Alphinaud a stabbing in the front too, Japanese cringe just hits different. And the Scions sacrificing themselves 2 by 2 was retarded considering Papalymo could have closed that door on the other side, Ysthola could have collapsed that roof a few meters away from them and then Minfilia just runs off because why not, especially when it was established that she's cant fight at all.
The Papalymo/Yda stall doesn't really matter much in your version because in that area you can just walk around that closed gate. That gate is only one of two in that area. That entire section is a circular hallway with an open ceiling area to the bottom side. So you can just walk around or I think go downstairs and back up. That move by Papalymo was to force those in pursuit to push through Papalymo/Yda or get punched/blasted in the back trying to go around once they realize they've stopped. Just closing the gate means relatively little imo.

The gate being closed was to force the rest of the party to leave more than anything else, Yda/Papa could just stand there and hold the line and it'd do mostly the same thing. You could try and close both gates, but then that bunch could either find another way around, open it again, break it, or cut them off a different way while telling any other pursuers that the way is closed which gives them more time. The bigger logical leap there is that everyone just stands around in the middle of a chase to talk to Thancred because they couldn't animate them talking and running at the same time for some reason.

As for Y'shtola/Thancred, unless they crashed the roof pretty much immediately upon entering the cavern (so being proactive instead of reactive like they were) that wouldn't work because they had little time to angle that properly. Plus how do you crash a an ancient roof that gracefully that you don't get crushed yourself? This tunnel is old as fuck that spell bombing the roof could probably bring the whole thing down as this is about 30 or so feet underground at least. So to make enough rubble to completely stall this hallway, so you can't just climb over it, would take a somewhat uncontrollably blast of aether. This is an explosion, not a pin point laser cutter. Depending on how far WoL is they could have been crushed too, but the story presumes they made it far enough with their sprint.

Minfilia is explained later, the tl;dr that you can ascertain in this scene alone is that Hydaelyn spoke to her and she answered the call. How? Why? Who knows (yet). This is more a set up for later than anything else, she wasn't stalling to fight them off so her combat ineptitude doesn't matter.

Also Crystal Braves is about as good of a name as the Immortal Flames or Twin Adders to be honest, or The Scions of The Seventh Dawn.

Namano is naive on purpose, the audience is supposed to think that if they're not optimistic or realize how little well meaning platitudes mean in the grand scheme of things if they are. Namano is pretty much an overly optimistic and idealistic person with little practical application, so her proposal is naturally meant to be faulty if you don't just auto agree. Their is a lot to say about Ul'dah's politics, but you need to wait till about 4.1-ish Stormblood to get most the picture of what they're trying to do with all of this stuff. I think you'll probably like the direction if you were angry with Namano's plan though. It felt more reasonable than Namano's plan.

Heavensward is overall better than ARR, so I hope you will enjoy it.

Seems like people are memeing on Red mage again because of parse numbers? I'm no game designer but from my layman point of view it just seems natural that Red mages need to be balanced around the fact that they can throw out those dualcast raises. Not that I'd care about parse numbers anyway cause I'm maining Red mage because it's stylish and I like how it feels to play.

I never realized how much fun it is to just craft things. So much so, I've made it a headcanon that my Paladin put in her vacation time and started working on her hobbies. Eorzea's salvation is on hold for a week
It's my headcanon that my WoL has recently become an omnicrafter/gatherer because he had nothing better to do in his downtime, so he basically got on that "sigma grindset", as the kids call it, just to ultimately become a better family man.

Really wish alliance roulette would stop shitting me out into one of the CT raids. Instantly leave them because I'm tired as fuck of doing them. I just want Causality tomes to buy more tome mats for goodness sake. *sigh*

I'm already tired of raidshitters shitting up casual content queues, especially when they fucking suck at the content.

Nigger don't fucking start a goddamned pull timer right at the start when you're a fucking DPS. And I'm so super duper impressed by your crown, your Ultimate title, and you bragging about all of your Ultimate clears in your search info when you're constantly eating shit to mechanics and floortanking when the rest of the raid is doing far better than you on average.

You sure these are raidshitters and not just RMT clearbuying shitters? I could not imagine eating floor to normal mechanics after doing savage/ultimate, normal content feels relaxing by comparison.

Anyway, speaking of hyper autism, I bloody love the new phasmascapes, no more ugly wood ceilings.
P4-W13 Maduin, Dynamis
No, I do not care about doxxxxxxxxxxxing my ingame character, I pretend this game is single player with bots anyway.

Honestly, I don't bother differentiating anymore.

Far as I can tell, the vast majority of people with Ultimate titles and Savage clears at this point are RMT clearbuying shitters, because how else do you explain so many people having the titles and gear when it's supposedly content that a very small minority of the playerbase actually does? Not to mention that they always prove absolutely fucking incompetent at staying alive in normal content.

Frontline roulette giving extra series exp now is such a lifesaver, god damn. I was never going to grind it out anyway because I don't like pvp but I'll just be done with getting all the relevant rewards earlier now even if all I do is daily frontline roulette so I appreciate it. Of course it also helps that the ice map is genuinely better now and they removed the absolute cancer that was secure.

The best part for me is that usually what precedes this is them pontificating about some minor "not optimal" bullshit someone in the party is doing, like having a single materia out of place, then immediately getting bodied, thrashed, trounced, demolished, ruined, wrecked, smashed and slammed by easy-mode-story-boss number 7374, all that optimal gear from their infinitely homosexual youtuber guide going to waste as being dead while packing an average ilevel of 620 vs 650 yields the same DPS:

IME, people who go back to casual content from tryhard raiding tend to get bored of doing it "normally" and do stupid greedy bullshit to keep it fun. I did that too a lot and have killed myself stupidly because doing it normally is a fucking chore that putting myself at a knife's edge and failing keeps me awake and into it. I know a recent TEA clearer who has legitimate ADHD who finds 4 man content so damn slow after doing Ultimate. They actually space out and forget what's even going on when they go back to normal content sometimes because their patience just dies after spending dozens of hours clearing TEA. Ultimate rewires your brain or something I swear that makes all other combat content just hit different.

I think many Ultimate titles are RMT'd, but I don't think people RMT Savage much by comparison to my knowledge.

Its still funny as shit to see Ultimate Legends get punted by random 24 man content, but I can believe on some level that these people aren't dying like shitter typical DF players. Plus sometimes you just forget what the fuck is going on in older 24 mans, I almost entirely forgot what Dun Scaith did when I finally queued into it after about 4 years of not doing it.

This is current content I'm seeing these people die on. They are dying in exactly the same ways as glue eating shitter DF players.

I thought that nigga Rin got cancelled and blacklisted by now, the fuck? Why are these dudes like cockroaches?

There's already been references to HSU in the normal raid story but it's been pointed out to me that the phase 2 P12S boss also repeats at least one line from High seraph ultima in that part of the fight. I wonder if this is just gonna be a one time callback since this is optional content or whether it's a hint that ivalice lore will be important again in the future. Could be the latter cause there's also the Erenville plot point.

I see, the dungeons and dragons mechanic.

I must have glossed this but what's this about Erenville?

Erenville showed up in the Baldesion Annex talking with Krile, told us he's taking a non-Gleaner-related trip "home", and... That's it, IIRC.

Like, I expect retards this early, but somehow the XIV playerbase manages to find a way to go above and beyond my expectations.
Well-adjusted people are, in general, checking out of MMOs. So I think FF14 is just going to decay in general even if it stays above the pack.

I've had no real urge to come back since the patch, myself. I mostly do casual content because I can't really be assed to get annoyed at randoms and shitters in slightly-more-complicated content, and I'd rather use my leisure time towards something enjoyable. And so I ask myself if I'd like to play a fun little indie title, or if I'd like to listlessly run the same 10 or 12 dungeons over and over again with people I'll never see again and who by all appearances seem to be obsessed with chasing neverland. Kindof an easy choice.

Once my friends lost interest in the game, well, there's really not enough of a draw for me to get over just how... annoying? the average MMO player is in this day and age, so I bounce out. That chain-reactions for a while, and self-selection kicks in. Sure, FF14 is the best of the worst, but so was Robot in the Family.
