First week of playing Infinity Nikki, and I really enjoy it so far. There's a bit of a learning curve though if you're used to the other installments in the series imo. Has anyone else played it yet?

Yes and it's really fun, I can't wait until more events. With how in-depth the photography system is, I'm disappointed there is no dedicated place like the starry corridor to see everyone's photographs, you have to come across them randomly in the open world or search for it in social media.

I'm super excited for the various events, and can't wait to get more limited dresses. I also hope that we have dresses from previous installments in IN, such as the Star Sea.
I think it's cool that you can come across others photos in-game, but I wish we were able to interact with other players more (i.e. in combat or styling battles)

You might get Star sea and other welfares but I doubt you'll get other suits, especially since the game is still up and CN players get mad if the new game gets outfits or events that are too similar to the previous one (this happened with Nikki UP2U and Love Nikki).
They are planning on adding co-op and a housing system but we still don't have clear details on how that's going to go, it seems they are still in early development.

I got reminded of some old games recently like Secondlife.

I recall having a lot of fun dressing my character up, spawning houses in sandboxes and decorating with them random freebie furniture I found, all that.

I never really chatted but instead saw the world like a giant place to explore, I was often booted for clicking points in the world map and accidentally spawning in peoples houses. Oops... They're trying to hold onto relevancy with a newly released phone app. I always enjoyed the experience of designing your character even just as a free user. Running around massive freebie shops and collecting all the cool looking stuff.

I hear the active member base has completely plummeted the last few years. Is there any real replacement for the customization it offered? Vrchat gets recommended but am I wrong that the avatars are more things you need to personally commission and upload rather than have all the different items in game ready to play with?

I've been playing a ton of Infinity Nikki lately, and I have a few bits of advice for newer players:

- Get used to the map interface, tracking tracking things, marking things, teleporting, etc. Saves you a lot of time.

- Save your Blings. Feel free to buy what you need or really like, but ignore things like the dress at Marques' Boutique.
Not only do you need to buy everything in the store to unlock the ability to buy the dress, it costs 580k. Wait until post-Miracle Outfit to buy it.
Ignore the Surprise-O-Matic until post-Miracle Outfit if you can. It's expensive and it's difficult to pull anything rare from it.

- There are tons of promo codes active right now, which you can find with a simple Google search. You can input them by going to Settings > Other > Redeem Code. You can get tons of Resonance gems, Diamonds, materials, and more from these.

- If you're going to spend Diamonds on Resonance gems, do not buy the blue ones. Only buy the purple ones unless you've collected everything you want from the limited banners.
You get a lot of blue ones for free just by playing the game and they're for the permanent banner.

- Be wise about how you spend your Blings, Diamonds and Vital Essence, especially during the time in which your main objective is crafting the entire Miracle Outfit.
You're probably going to be spending a lot of each. You need Bling for Crafting and Glowing Up clothes to beat the Sovereigns. At this point in the game, you will probably need Stellarites to buy Vital Energy to gather all of the materials you need for the Miracle outfit.
-During this part of the game, the 99 cent 7-day Vital Energy boost in the shop helps a lot. You can do it without it, but it saves you time.
-From my experience, the Sovereign of Sexy is the most difficult one and the easiest way to defeat it is by glowing up the Flutter Storm set. Eurekas help.
-You don't need to get a perfect defeat on a Stylist to progress, but you do need to get a perfect defeat on a Sovereign to progress. I was wrong about this, you don't need a perfect to get the reward.

- Check your "Friends" section often; this is also where NPCs will contact you and give you quests.

- Don't ignore the fragrance quests. They unlock improved combat abilities that will make late game a lot easier.

- Completing The Mira Crown challenge can give you materials useful for Sovereign quests.
It also has a shop where you can buy a limited amount of useful things.

-Check your courses and claim them for diamonds.

- Quests can earn a lot of diamonds and help with achievements and exploring for more materials and blings.

- Perfect clearing minigames gives you 40 diamonds the first time.

Has anyone played the Nicola Kanshuu games on DS/Switch? I recently started playing Dream Girl Premier. Despite it not being localized, it's easy to follow if you play the other games, the only thing I need translation for is some keywords that are mostly thankfully 「boxed in」 so it's easy to look for. I have Model Debut 3 on Switch too, but it feels like a push back from the later 3DS games. The socializing aspect isn't really what I want, it's trying to bridge into more RPG elements. I just like showing up to jobs and dressing up and modeling.

Seeing this thread just now unlocked a core memory. I spent an embarrassing amount of time playing the Mulan dress-up mini game from Disney's Animated Storybook (when I was very young).

Funny side note: at that time I had never seen an Asian person before, and I was too young and sheltered (or just plain retarded lol) to really understand that different races that exist in the world, and I just thought Mulan and the other characters from the movie had cool unique way of dressing. Innocent times.

I've only lightly skimmed this thread but I didn't see much mention: does anyone else remember the kisekae scene? back when flash animation and java coding was considered computationally taxing and the Internet was not quite robust enough to host games reliably, they were downloadable digital paper doll games that required a special viewer to load and play on your desktop, made by passionate artists who learned to program (or collaborated with other autismos) in obscure and incompatible languages to make their fashion or cosplay dreams come true. looking back, it really feels like peak xennial nerd-girl nostalgia, it was the girl game scene before dressup games became commonly available for free online. so much early internet spergery that could rival the fanfic scene contemporary to the times in terms of both creative potential and backstabbery. the closest comparison I could relate it to is probably the stardew valley modding scene, which is a whole other thing I won't get into right now because this is getting long. stuff off the top of my head:
- intense conflict around crediting artwork
- the usual programmer autism some might recognize from the modern open source scene
- angelfire websites with labyrinthine webring cliques
- its weird roots as essentially Japanese interactive hentai

I still fire up directkiss every once in a while and click around in old sets by really talented artists. otakuworld made every set theyve ever hosted freely available on their site like ten years ago, damn I'm fucking OLD.

I remembered a Postopia game called Kiki's Dream Room Designer, looked it up, and found out it was lost media. big sad. A coworker had suggested I download House Flipper, she said the original is better than the sequel, and for either of them I apparently just missed a sale where the base game was free. Anyone ITT ever play House Flipper/2 and have an opinion on which the better game is?

Ladies, a Bratz Doll Troon has hit the kickstarter goals. Thanks to @Niggerphobe for the find and @A Deer In Headlights for the archive.
