There's so many things DD2 needs besides a new region and a bitter black grind.
Unless this expansion addresses and corrects the problems that the base game had then it'll just be more of the same.
This is from the Steam news.

In the lead up to the release of this expansion, there will be two major updates that will enhance the gameplay experience of the base game, starting with the first update releasing on June 10th 2026. Watch this space for more details!

So, lets wait and see how they want to improve the core game experience.

New content doesn't mean much when the game runs extremely poorly on many rigs due to the utterly retarded decision to bind npc subroutines and behavior exclusively to the CPU.

Plus fucking Denuvo on top of that.

Capcom keeps talking about how they want to corner more of the PC market.

Have you fucking tried making your games PC friendly?

More details on the two updates

Well I can't believe they actually are releasing more patches and a DLC for the game.
Still not sure if I am going to play it but nice that Capcom didn't forget the game.

Installed DD2 again. funny enough, i was just about done replaying the first game. So going straight to DD2 felt weird the first hour or so (i forgot Stride- i mean thief cant even double jump). the devs gave us an Eternal Ferrystone and another portcrystal which is nice.

Dragon Age 2?
Its not a bad idea and shows good faith for what I assume is a massive sale starting on Thursday.
not really no, it seems the people at capcom will have other things to do inbetween but sure it's kind of easy to get the whole redhead stepchild treatment DD gets.

Does the game run any better like at all? I tried it on release and refunded it but I loved the first game. I know the second is getting it's dlc in a few months with performance improvements so maybe I'll wait till then

No, and it's basically impossible to fix without completely redoing the entire game.

Basically what happened is Capcom made the genius decision to tie all NPC subroutines and behavior exclusively to the CPU which is why whenever you go into a city or an area with a lot of NPCs the game drops from 50 fps to like 15 instantly.

They can't really fix this without completely redoing all the NPC behavior and AI from the ground up.

It would still run like shit but they could slightly improve things by removing Denovu which they won't do either.

Ah, so even their performance patch in like September or whatever won't do jack shit
Yup. They tried to fix performance by dramatically lowering the draw distance on NPCs but now not only does the game still run poorly but NPCs phase out of existence if they're more than like two feet away from you which is extremely immersion breaking.

FUCK YOU, DOOM POSTERS!
PERFORMANCE WILL BE FIXED!
PATCH WILL FIX EVERYTHING!
DLC WILL LET ME ROMANCE THE SPHINX!
I WILL BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAST!!

Even with the dogshit performance I'm actually quite eager to play DD2, but shit like "Oops remember to make a copy of this skeleton key or youll suffer for the rest of the game" bugs me so much. These game you can't just play blindly without suffering massively. Usually it's only in colony games or survival games; "do this neat trick!", but other times like DD2 it's borderline mandatory tricks everyone knows about.

Oh, and the performance update not out til August? Why even play it now

I will eat the DLC slop. I'm just that that starved for a decently executed fantasy RPG content *sigh* The northern setting is just the cherry on the top. I feel like a battered wife that comes crawling back for even a crumb of DD content even though Crapcom clearly doesn't give a shit and Itsuno left so realistically we should have zero expectations.
