I do find it amusing how three Dragon Quest games allow the player to romance a childhood friend...or snub her and go for someone the Hero met on his journey and barely knows. Three times is too many times for a coincidence. My schizo theory is someone involved in these games has a very specific cuck fetish.
Bianca is someone he met on his journey and barely knows.

It's like if your parents take you to visit Jacksonville, FL when you're 8 years old and you meet a girl, you play with her for 2 weeks and go home.

i feel like any time someone nootices a fetish in a game it's always just some bullshit they're making up because they can't conceptualize why else a game would let you have have the option to marry woman a or woman b.

To be fair, Deborah treats you like shit because she expects nothing but the very best from you. But I wouldn't really call it a cuck contest for being forced to make a choice between 2 girls that you've just met and Bianca, whom you barely even know.

Supposedly if you actually read all the side story and party chat stuff Deborah's the one with the most character development of all of them (e.g., she actually does love you but has trouble spitting it out, plays at being a brat as a defense mechanism, etc etc).

I actually did most of that. Bianca's exactly what you'd expect and Nera was too boring of an option for me.

They repeated that with Maribel in VII, and everyone with a braincell wants to throtle Maribel
Apparently they did an interview with Horii about her, and she predates the invention of the Tsundere. Had to check the timeline, and yup, she's the original one. Couldn't stand her in the original PSX version and haven't really got too far in the claymation remake.

Tropes don't get named until they're seen several times. Japanese wikipedia (btw, way better than english wikipedia) says the first Tsundere character was in:
1972 manga "High School Delinquent Chronicles," Chapter 2, "Satsuma-no-kami Tadanori"

Speaking of fetish bait, did somebody say Bianca?

I mean I'm mostly joking. I just find the exact context repeating as many times as it does amusing.

I have no braincells because I found her funny as hell.

It is a common aspect of adventure stories back into antiquity, an explorer finding his bride along the course of a grand adventure. Dragon Quest was about adapting that kind of adventure stories to an RPG for Japanese audiences.
