Wait a minute are we talking about peels that have been removed from the vegetable? Because that's garbage. Never eat garbage. If it's left on I would call it skin, at which point it becomes debatable depending on the item in question, and the method of preparation. Potato skin for example can fluctuate wildly in edibility.

Lemons and limes are my favorite fruits, have been my whole life. used to peel them then eat them when I was super young, then at like 13-14 I just said "fuck it less to clean up". from then on I just eat them like apples, mangos, or peaches.....except you can eat the entire thing! its like a cheat code for scurvy and clean up!

I also hear the rine is "the healthiest part".....fuck if I know.

Eating a kiwi skin sounds absolutely horrible and I fucking love kiwi's.

Never eaten a watermelon rind but I guess wouldn't be opposed to it.

Apples, pears, potatoes, peaches, nectarines, apricots all have pretty good skin.

Oranges and grapefruit sound terrible though. I don't think I could do it.

so what, you just eat them straight up? like an apple?

I always cut 'em in half and ate the middle bits out with a spoon.

Kiwi skin is integral to the kiwi experience. It has a great texture and flavor.

Citrus peels are fantastic for flavoring things. A lot of the essential oils are in those peels and lemon zest is great atop certain pies and confections.
Put zests in the breading of your schnitzel or other meat, thats the trick to make it divine!
Or orange marmalade with peels, I could die for it.

I did this the first time I had edamame. I sat there chewing the pod like a cow for like 5 minutes before I was told I wasn't supposed to eat that part.

I thought I was the only one... I tried cooking edamame until they're tender. That took a while. And they were still not tender. Haha.

To be fair though: I confused them with sugar snaps. You can eat those whole with the pod.

Winter squash is understandable to eat without the peel, but why would anyone want to peel summer squash or zucchini? Summer squash loses a lot of texture when cooked in certain ways. The only fruit I bother peeling are citrus, avocado, mango, or watermelon.
