It's been somewhere in the neighborhood of four years since Marina Seadrift received this particular redux by someone other than DisneyFan01.
I looked into the credentials of who did this and - holy shit. Jocelyn Sepulveda is the character design supervisor for Atomic Cartoons and Netflix, after working for Nickelodeon. A number of name artists have actually done pro bono redesigns of the character. I know DisneyFan01's attempted to recreate her a few times, but she never sticks to it beyond a single conceptual drawing.

Got a degree but you wonder how she achieved it given her work
Highly fixated on a single narrow interest and or crush
Steals or heavily references art from other people.
I can respect an inexperianced artist who can barely draw as long as they put effort into it, as opposed to these scrubs.

She paid money and went to class. If this woman got a Bachelor in fine arts, then most people can so long as they go to any old run of the mill college or university. Hell, look at what the people who graduate CalArts go on to do, and that's supposed to be the top prestigious school for animation, which is (or was) DisneyFan's dream.

From my peeks into the animation industry, art schools like CalArts and SCAD do teach relevant skills, but you do have to be competent at, like, gesture drawing, acting, character design, etc... but most people in the industry will tell you that the big schools are good for making connections and getting students used to working on big projects.
Some of these people who graduate actually have really good art styles, but once the get hired into the industry that's when you get your bean mouths and noodles. Rebecca Sugar's early works, whatever you may think of them, are way more appealing than the lazy art style used in SU.
Poor Andrea could never survive in this industry. I've never seen her do any gesture drawing, her sequential art is boring, and her only real skill is painting from photographs. Her pet portraits are good, but that's not how you become a Disney feature animator.
It's been six years since I joined the farms and she's still writing that fanfic. I've tried keeping up with it because it was funny to read about this weird, reclusive woman wanting to Mack on John Silver, but now the story has gotten so long and so boooring. Even if FotH returned to its ridiculous glory, there's just so much filler to slog through. I don't blame anyone who lost interest.

I don't really understand the drive to do this "SelfxCharacter" fic, since its just a thinly veiled attempt to live vicariously through the characters.
And you know what? If that's your jam, whatever. If its just for fun, who cares? But making it your primary magnum opus is kind of a bad idea.
Fanfic can serve as a decent tool for exploration of writing, or characters, but ultimately if you want to be a creator you gotta grow up eventually. Make something original.
Or you go to SCAD or Cal arts and make Thundercats Roar.
You can tell the difference between people who really want to be artists and those who just want the prestige.
