I'm stealing this from a >reddit comment on the cutscene, but I think he summed it up nicely:
the only kind of characters that could defeat something like The Winnower are Saitama-types, where any concept or rule in reality that should stop them, simply doesn't work.

Saitama can destroy Jupiter, he can defeat God, he can use martial arts to time travel backwards, he can do all this, because no rules apply to him, and only specifically him in his setting, as part of the joke.
saitama-sneezed-and-destroyed-part-of-jupiter-v0-a175p8vzpqc91.webp

Guardians could never, because they aren't really that strong in power scaling bullshit, someone like Arthur from Fire Force is stronger than any character seen in this fucking game.

when reading the description of the current activity set, everything implies that the battlepass would focus on redditman Lodi and the Nine before the game was kil, thank fuck for that.

i like that strange signals are a good source of ascendant alloys, you get to farm a good chunk of T5 stuff and the shit you already owned way back can still be upgraded if you just play around with them signals, bretty good.

Another good thing about them is that you don't have to use the signals right away if you don't want to. You can stack up a large amount of Strange Matter from farming Distortions after the first fifty transmute into a signal. Every time you open a chest, another fifty matter will be automatically converted into a signal, so you can open a bunch in sequence. A nice way to relieve some pressure on the "I have to go do this now" feeling if you'd rather just keep farming Distortions instead.

I've been running the math on Legendary Marks to see how much it costs to buy everything at the Monument of Triumph. Assuming you're starting without anything unlocked (which would be Heir Apparent, the Gryphon, the Allstar Vector, Superblack, Chatterwhite, and the season 3 Faction Rally exotic armor ornaments), it takes a total of 5410 marks to buy everything across all three classes. Assuming I didn't mess up my math somewhere (the multi-step triumphs might have different amounts for each step), I think you can get a total of 5215 marks from triumphs. That's not quite enough for literally everything, and you'll have to do a bunch of raiding and PVP to finish every last one, but that's not really an issue long-term since you can farm them. Weekly challenges give ten apiece (so thirty total per week), and legendary and exotic orders give 50 on completion. So yeah, eventually you can get everything, and you can avoid the tougher triumphs if you don't want to do them and still get everything unlocked eventually.

For those who are working on the grind, I've done quite a few of the easier to solo ones and can offer some tips:
  • I'm gonna put this up at the top: for the Distortion Case Files triumphs, the files you need to pick up will only spawn when there's an active Distortion on that destination, so to make it easier, you may want to have a seven-hour block of time planned so you can knock them all out in one go and not have to worry about the rotation. They do have markers when you get close to them, or you can just look up a guide.
  • The Rendezvous triumphs are all easy to find since they're all marked on your map, and you can just set a waypoint to them. The only exception is Mara's, whose node is for some reason far up to the top of the Dreaming City and unselectable, but she's down in the Confluence if you remember how to get there.
  • Same with the Vista triumphs, each one has a general zone on the map, and when you get close, you'll see a Destiny symbol marker.
  • Patrol triumphs:
    • If you have the Gryphon, you can use its cannons to kill enemies on the Moon, which is a lot easier than running them over.
    • The Assimilated Demolishers are in Watcher's Grave on Nessus. There's a Vex spire you can interact with on the approach to the Cabal land tank, which summons a fairly beefy trio of a boss Minotaur, Hydra, and Wyvern. You have five minutes to kill all three before they despawn. You'll probably need a few people to kill them in time.
    • A Spider Tank spawns fairly regularly in the Divide in the Cosmodrome, so that's an easy way to find one to kill. The one in the Devils' Lair strike might count, I'm not sure.
    • I don't know if there's an easier way to get one, but I grabbed an Interceptor from a heroic Injection Rig event and used that to kill a bunch of enemies.
    • I think there was a way to cheese Tire Game, but I can't remember how. I think with a grenade launcher? It's a pain to do it legit, I know that much. If you already did it once before, it's already unlocked. Same goes for finding the satellite in K1 Logistics (it's at the very end above one of the buildings).
    • In K1 Crew Quarters on the Moon, you'll find a glowing Captain towards the end of the lost sector. Kill him, and he'll drop a Scythe. Use it to defeat twenty enemies.
    • In Ancient's Haunt on Nessus, there will be glowing Minotaurs that spawn in multiple areas. Kill them to make them drop a Vex Cranium, then use it to defeat twenty enemies.
  • Treasure Hunting triumphs:
    • The Imbaru chest is located in the same room that you'll find Luzaku in the Queen's Bailey in the Throne World. It's on a raised platform just to your right when you see her. (No treasure, it just kills you when you open it.)
    • Xur's Leftovers are found at his old haunts in the Tower Hangar (behind where Dead Orbit used to hang out), Winding Cove in the EDZ (up on the cliff), and Watcher's Grave on Nessus (up in the tree).
  • Tower triumphs:
    • Saint-14's pigeons are all in the Hangar, not too hard to find them.
    • Archie is no longer in the Annex, he's up by Lodi in the old New Monarchy area.
    • While you're in the Tower, head to Hawthorne and buy at least 100k Glimmer's worth of Raid Banners so you can get a triumph when you leave. (You can spend Glimmer anywhere for the triumph, but that's the easiest and most useful way aside from material exchange at Rahool.)
    • The hidden soccer goal is upstairs in the old Future War Cult area, you just have to kick the soccer ball down that hallway and around the corner. Don't kick it out of the Hangar area or it will reset.
    • There are two sweeper bots in each of the three main Tower areas (not the Annex). If you found and interacted with two, you can move on to the next area.
    • While you're in the Hangar, jump off the Tower to reset the accident clock.
    • The wording on the "Floor is Lava" triumph sounded like there was an extra challenge they added, but they didn't. It just requires you to do the challenge without getting hurt by touching the ground.
    • Spawning the giant Traveler ball is fun, but too complicated to get into through text. Look up a video guide (or just wait around in the Tower for someone else to do it for you).
  • Campaigns triumphs:
    • All of these can be done on normal difficulty, which I definitely recommend since there's no extra reward for doing it on a higher difficulty.
    • Full Deck requires you to get 52 kills with Ace of Spades during the Cayde's Fate timeline mission, then complete it.
    • I can't actually tell you about Above and Beyond, because Beyond isn't the weekly Moon campaign mission. I think it'll be up next week.
    • Into Darkness didn't unlock when I did an Empire Hunt for some reason, but it did work by replaying the opening Beyond Light campaign mission. Might be bugged.
    • For Cunning Is Strength, progress through the entirety of The Cunning mission in the Throne World until you defeat the Ahamkara Illusion. You should see a Drake Tank icon on your HUD. Begin your escape and grab one of the Pikes, using that to ride down until you get to the central platform. Head to your right where the tank is and swap to it. On your way out, five Abominations will spawn in, three on the bridge and two as you're making your way to the lift. Make sure you kill all of them before you escape and you'll get the triumph when the level ends.
    • For Relics of the Past, you'll need to get to the very end of The Ghosts mission in the Throne World. When the boss fight starts, there will be three splinters located above the statues by the side chambers. I don't know if you have to shoot all three to make a Scythe spawn or if shooting one causes a Scythe to spawn on that side, but it's probably best to shoot all three. I had to run around a bit until I finally found a Scythe, it was tucked away in a narrow passageway. Grab it and get twenty kills before finishing the boss, then you'll get the triumph when it ends.
    • For Just Stand Riiiight There, you need to get up to the defense part of Desperate Measures on Neptune. The laser pointer will spawn in at regular intervals after you take out the first two tanks with it, so you can just hang out while you wait for it to recharge. The radius of the beam is pretty small, but it will kill basically anything instantly. The tanks do not count as kills. Aim for clusters of enemies, and prioritize getting the kills as soon as possible because the laser pointer will stop spawning when the Tormentors boss fight begins. After that, finish the level to unlock the triumph.
    • For Count on Khvostov, you can still use abilities in Ascent in the Pale Heart, but the only gun you can use is Khvostov 7G-0X (the exotic, not the legendary), and you need 75 kills with it by the end of the level. I don't know if using an Eager Edge sword to travel faster will invalidate the triumph or not, but I assume it's checking to see if you used any other weapon at all, including sword swings. Not hard, just a little tedious. It'll unlock when the level ends.
    • For Play Nice, in Dissent in the Pale Heart, there will be three splinters in each of the three outdoor "storm" sections as you progress; this does not include the very beginning where you have to clear some Hive before going in the first building. A notification will pop up when you have destroyed all the splinters in a section, so if you haven't seen that, keep looking; they'll have markers when you get close or when you ADS. After destroying the third set (make sure you find the two up top before you start jumping down, or else you'll need some way of getting back up), an Abomination will spawn. Kill it and finish the level to get the triumph.
    • For Where'd We Park?, you'll find a couple Pikes under shields at the beginning of the level, after you drop the barrier around the first statue. Defeat the first group of Fallen, and as more start coming in on Skiffs, you should see a message that the Pikes are now available for use. Go over and grab one and get 25 kills with it, then finish the level for the triumph.
      • The end of the level also has some Brigs that are similarly shielded at the start of the final Brig boss fight, but will be available to use after you take out the first chunk of its health. It's not for any triumph or anything, but it's fun.
    • I'd recommend trying to do a run of Excision now while the population is still high and people are still wanting to do it for the triumph.
    • For Dry Feet, you need to head to the Aionian Campus on Kepler to find the mission start beacon. It's really short, just don't die at all and don't touch the water in the second part for the triumph.
    • For Who Needs Roads?, get all the way to the end of the Imperium mission in Renegades after the Drifter ice cube escort. Once he's in the ship, head back into the hangar where some previously-shielded Interceptors will be available for use. Hop in, get ten kills, and then finish the level for the triumph.
    • Last Grasp for Glory does not require you to defeat Premier Lume in Glory Beyond in Renegades with a Praxic Blade as the final blow, only to have it equipped when you do. The triumph unlocks when you finish the level.
  • The Nine triumphs:
    • Each of the Nine-Touched triumphs are easy. Go to the indicated lost sector (there doesn't have to be an active Distortion there) and near the very beginning, you'll see a red corruption node. Shoot it and all combatants will gain the usual Distortion effects. Defeat the boss of the lost sector for the triumph.
    • You don't need anything special to feed Starhorse. Just go and interact with it in Eternity for the triumph.
    • For Called It, it's easiest to complete on expert difficulty because the final boss is the same all week, so you can "predict" the last path guaranteed.
  • Targets triumphs:
    • Tethys, the Defended is a Taken Captain in Rheasilvia in the Dreaming City, in a cave near the Chamber of Starlight lost sector. Its shield can only be damaged with Telesto, which is a pain given how much it teleports around. Make sure you have full ammo before you go to kill it.
  • Armaments triumphs:
    • I got A Bit Much, Really by accident when a single throw of my Hammer of Sol killed a combatant. I think the intent was for it to unlock if you got a single kill for the entire duration of your super, or used a one-and-done on a single enemy, but whatever.
  • Exotic Missions triumphs:
    • For Oblation, there are five triumphs:
      • One for completing the first part and acquiring Cull's Shadow
      • One for completing the third part
      • One for finding all nine worms throughout the mission
      • One for unlocking and beating the legendary version (travel to the Catacombs on the Moon after finishing the third part, and you'll find a book where you found the Cryptoglyph during the Shadowkeep campaign; interact with it to unlock legendary; it can be launched from the map after that)
      • One for beating the legendary version in under thirty minutes

the current eris morn mission in the deep lets you grind the catalysts pretty easily because of the infinite respawning enemies.

bonus picture of the ammo crates that spawned from some of the grinding, i still have a couple of other exotics left in the vault to pick and grind the catalysts.

Former CM Liana Ruppert tweeted out that the only way to keep Bungie alive is to support Marathon.

For those unaware of Rupperts history as a CM, her knowledge of the sandbox and community was extremely limited, and she was lambasted for being out of touch.

She was the first CM to be laid off, and when this happened she lied about refusing a 67 million hush order about company culture, only to tell about the offending incident (complete nothingburger)

Recently she made big claims of her involvement with the Lightfall expansion and all the scrapped content. While the gutting of this expansion is well known, other factors (like the trans main character Nimbus voiced by a troon a little too open about their fart fetish online) are what turned most players off from Lightfall.

Shilling Marathon like this doesn’t appear to be “wise insider knowledge” but rather an attempt to get back in Bungie’s roster like rehired CM dmg04 (who has his own sordid history) as well as to own the chuds. (Aztecross has been framed by the Marathon crowd as right wing)

I remember hearing Null mention a board for industry people of interest like that Riot anti cheat dude. Liana definitely deserves a thread documenting her history.

Unrelated but if anyone in the thread would like help with the raids or just someone to play the update with shoot me a dm.

Oh boy, the gaslighting here is off the charts. Let's see:

the only way to keep Bungie alive right now is to support Marathon.
Oh, are we going down the "support Marathon to get D3" road again? Once more, see Titanfall to see how that works out. No, the only actual way to save Bungie is to have them continue Destiny (or make another new IP, but that would likely be even harder work) but actually be smart with money and how they develop this time. The Marathon project has quite clearly failed.
People keep comparing Marathon numbers to Destiny and frankly, that's ignorant.
You don't need to compare it to Destiny, or any other game in fact, to see that it's underperforming.
Marathon was never designed to do Bungie numbers. The conversations about that were very upfront early.
That's not the reality as it exists now, though. It is no longer a "side project" where you can just brush off its performance while relying on another, main product. It IS their main product now, that's what they chose when they decided to kill off Destiny. And so that's how it will be judged by people, and more importantly Sony themselves. And Sony did not pay $3.6 billion for some niche product that completely bombs on consoles and also massively underperforms on Steam.

Just more delusional bullshit from a retarded moron.

Regardless of the low lows and high highs. The gay niggers and tranny ditch diggers, this game gave me a lot. A lot of good memories, a lot of fun nights spent raiding, friends who have come and gone, nights spent by myself grinding the cosmodrome loot cave. It was special, regardless of how retarded it got, or how good it was and how much greater it could’ve been. Damn shame it’s over.

fuck trannies, fuck bungie. Remove everyone, only hire whites. Make a D3, retards.

Oh, are we going down the "support Marathon to get D3" road again?
the worst part in all of this is that even redditors aren't buying that, they want marathong dead because their mindset is that if marathon is dead then sony will be forced to develop D3.
and i'm all up for it, GO YOU FUCKING RETARDS, GET MARATHONG KILLED SO DESTINY 3 CAN BE BORN.

Someone got the timing wrong on their message delivery, because this just got fired out to everyone:

It's not actually accessible at the moment, but looks like Scourge didn't get left out of the Pantheon fun after all. (Unless it actually did get cut for time and this message was a total mistake.)

Is there anything that's a decent replacement for Destiny 2? I played a bit this last weekend and I found I have missed this type of game, but the more I've played it the more dissapointed I've been with it. Why exactly can't I just play all the old missions I paid for? Why is all the Red War stuff I enjoyed just gone entirely?
I tried Warframe a few years back and it didn't quite scratch the itch.

Moon thrallway

Warframe is your best bet but if you are like most people and really fuck with D2s gunplay there is no replacement sadly
Why exactly can't I just play all the old missions I paid for? Why is all the Red War stuff I enjoyed just gone entirely?
Bungie was retarded and saw all the backlash call of duty was getting for its filesize and thought they needed to do something about theirs too since d2 was hitting 120 gigs and started to put content in the "Destiny content vault" aka removing it from the game. Now they did partially make good on the promise of content returning in seasonal content but that too was removed as they also started removing all the seasonal content from the previous year when a new expansion came out minus stuff like dungeons and exotic missions.
Did this work? Well destiny 2 is currently 180-195 gigs and world of warcraft (which still has all the content from vanilla till whatever the new expansion is minus stuff changed/removed in cataclysm) is 120 to 150 gigs.
I tried Warframe a few years back and it didn't quite scratch the itch.
Same, i think ive done the starter missions 3 or 4 times by now on different platforms and everytime fails to actually capture my interest into warframe

Is there anything that's a decent replacement for Destiny 2?
shooty-move wise? borderlands 4, because it has actual ex-bungos in there.

shit excuses for their laziness.
