Truly, he has no equal.
What sucks is that he was first established as being very capable of permakilling Lightbearers. In either Destiny 1 campaign missions or the Fallen Saber strike Zavala mentions that Rasputin wiped out multiple Guardian teams sent to try contacting him, and this was before re-establishing control over the Warsats. Since then he has been useless at dealing with any paracausal foes. Hive intrude into his bunkers? Ah shit, he's fucking defenceless now.

If this is true, Sony has no one to blame but themselves. Anyone with a brain could have seen that the acquisition was retarded, especially for that price, but they completely shat a brick and panic-bought them when MS bought Activision. They got totally taken for a ride and conned by Jason Jones, Pete Parsons etc with their fake portfolio of upcoming live service games and "expertise" (lol, lmao). And that's not even getting into how Sony's whole live service initiative has been a total failure and a disaster in general, and should have never been done in the first place.

Bungie is basically a parasite that's spent most of their existence jumping from host to host - first MS, then Activision, now Sony - and siphoning all the money/resources they can out of them before they're booted out. And it's looking like it's finally the end of the road.
Again, assuming this is true and the decision to kill Destiny came from Sony execs and not from inside the studio...literally retarded move (but what else can we expect from Sony honestly). It would very much be cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I mean, seriously, think about it. They spent an absurd amount of money on Bungie, far more than they were worth, with that value being inflated not only due to their various projects but also the supposed expertise in live service games that would help them in their other boondoggles. You'd think that someone would have taken a closer look at things and realized that Bungie had a long track record of spinning up projects that never went anywhere and maybe not rush headlong into throwing piles of cash at them, but they did it anyway. Then huge chunks of cash and stock options that were supposed to go to employee retention end up going into the various execs' pockets after they fire a bunch of other higher-ups for spurious reasons. Then, after it turns out that they seriously fucked up and wrote down their initial valuation of Bungie by nearly a quarter, rather than jettison the useless execs that were milking them for all they could, they instead decide to spite Bungie by killing off their only successful game and forcing them to shitcan half of their employees, leaving only the turd that nobody wants to play even when it's free.

I'm no Bungie stan, and Lord knows they've fucked up plenty on their own, but this is just incredibly retarded, especially with the incredibly vocal response to the cancellation and swell of players returning to the game. I know money isn't infinite and they need to make money and expensive development and yadda yadda, but why anyone thought killing a game with a huge fanbase (that was clearly more lapsed than completely fed up with it) was a good idea is utterly beyond me, especially when the only other game they have is fucking Marathon.

Still won't stop me from thinking Jason Jones had a hand in this somehow, though. This will forever be my Pepe Silvia.

Oh I don’t doubt he had a hand. It could be as simple as him going all Willy Wonka after the order was sent, limply pleading;

“Oh noooo, pleeaaaase don’t shut down the game I care nothing for, no stop..”

Cross’ reaction to the tweets here:

Edit, removed the tracker, fuck jeets.

Siva is self-replicating, right? So through just having the Outbreak exotic the City would be able to use it to create a large reserve of it and allow for using it for lots of construction and industry. But alas just like with Rasputin, they're both powerful Golden Age tech and would upset the balance so they had to be killed off.
nah nigga there's always a jailer, ops, the witness because darkness/winnower o algo.
you know, there's gotta be a bigger, badder, eviler and whiter enemy and shieet with these kinds of stories, not destiny obviously since it's fucking dead...

bungie was just the studio the skinwalkers infected, easy bet the actual parasites will just golden parachute out of it to do more live service shit.

the entire reason as to why he is able to magically kill lightbearers being fucking siva infestation, which isn't even his thing but rather a darkness-inspired nanobot swarm from clovis, rasputin can't do anything but fuck around, true to his name i guess.

Bungie and their trannys did not make SIVA is why. Most of the team was on D2, they had a support studio (vicarious I think) make Rise of Iron. And it was a story about badass dudes in the mountains killing evil robots. That’s not very culturally sensitive!

SIVA wasn’t just too cool, the egos within Bungie hated it because it wasn’t something they made.
The thing was that at some point SIVA was intended to appear in D2 Nessus, there was a screenshot of a Nessus SIVA strike and lore regarding a potential SIVA cache on the Exodus Black. Considering the timeline of development and how D2 was shat out in like 16 months somebody made a very abrupt choice pretty late in the dev cycle to remove it. That itself isn't surprising but there has to be someone high up on the creative side that specifically has a hate boner to have kept it out despite the fact Destiny LOVES recycling content. The fact that the line was drawn against SIVA specifically meaning someone like a Justin Truman or Luke Smith was actively preventing them from milking it outside of aesthetics.

But yeah D2 Fallen factions suck. House of Wolves & Devil Splicers were the coolest the Fallen ever where and the House of Salvation shit we got was ASS

Y'know, I swear I remember hearing that in-game at some point, or reading it in a lore entry, and everyone else basically agrees it's common knowledge to the point even the wiki mentions it as fact. But I just did a search through Ishtar Collective's database for "SIVA" specifically, and I can't find a single actual mention of SIVA on the Exodus Black. A couple of Ghost scans in the base game mention SIVA, but usually only if you were a veteran player, and none of them mention a cache of it on the ship itself.

So then I did a search on YouTube, and found a single idle dialogue line from Tyra Karn at the Farm:
As far as I can tell, this is the only source of this assumption, one piece of dialogue most people would probably end up missing, and not even a concrete mention of it being there. That's not to say it isn't logical it would be on the colony ships based on what it was designed for, just that a "just trust me bro" isn't solid evidence. Maybe Bungie had plans to do something more with SIVA there and decided against it, or maybe they never intended on it at all but put that line in for veterans to appreciate.

As for the strike screen, you always have to be careful with development assets, since they may not reflect anything that actually ends up in the game. They might have just come up with some placeholder text that could be easily identified as for developers only and not the live game. And as far as I'm aware, there isn't any concept art of SIVA related to D2 at all, which I feel like we would have seen at some point if it were actually planned.

ETA: TWAB goes live as soon as I post, fairly light, the only big news is a new community challenge for 250k Excision clears in a week (each player counts toward the total and GM difficulty counts sevenfold, so a normal clear adds 12 and a GM adds 84). It's a Monument of Triumph objective anyway, so good time to go do it. If the goal is met, everyone who played Excision this week gets a free emblem.

One of Guardian wipes is shown in Rise of Iron cinematic:
Although it barely shows Guardian rekt. But I guess the SIVA infection prevents you from resurrecting, otherwise heroic sacrifice of the woman does not make sense.

I stand corrected, thank you. Still hard to know how far along any plans were before they scrapped them. If I were a betting man, I'd say it was likely that they initially thought about working SIVA into the Fallen presence on Nessus and having a return of the Devil Splicers, but when they decided to simplify each enemy race down to a single faction (House of Dusk in the Fallen's case), they changed their mind. Maybe they were already working out plans for the Scorn in Forsaken and decided that having three different Fallen variations would be a bit much. Who knows?

I think I read somewhere that pre reboot they were planning for Nessus to be the black garden, not sure how that would fit but you can see it in the design
I don't know anything about Pre-Reboot D2 but if it still included Cayde attempted to steal Vex tech, then he might've just went looking for it inside of the Black Garden instead of Nessus? Or maybe some other artifact.

lore regarding a potential SIVA cache on the Exodus Black.
Yeah, potential and by this point im gonna assume it wasn't there.

Yeah i always figured it was either just a reference for fanservice or trying to make Tyra sound like a conspiracy theorist.

Doesn't it sever you from the light or something?

I just thought of another cool idea. If we got the Black Garden instead of Nessus, seeing a human colony ship crashed inside of it and the results of that would've been interesting, if it wasn't just identical to the Nessus content, it would've also had probably had additional paracausal properties. I also consider Nessus as a pretty meh destination, not really interesting. My favorite destinations were always the Human ones. Cosmodrome, Venus, Mars, Titan, etc.

Doesn't it serve you from the light or something?
There are instances in lore where a Ghost simply can't resurrect their Guardian, even beyond the canonical existence of Darkness Zones. A really sad example is a Guardian that was trapped in a time bubble on the Almighty, not dead but slowed to a near standstill, unable to be killed and so unable to be resurrected and saved from the trap he was stuck in for the next fifty thousand years. (No word on what happened to him after the Almighty crashed, though.)

With regards to SIVA, I would speculate that how quickly it consumes the body to enhance and replicate is likely what would interfere with a Ghost resurrection. Maybe it integrates with the body so completely that the Ghost can't separate their Guardian from it, forcing them to resurrect with SIVA every time. I don't know if it was ever explained satisfactorily beyond "SIVA bad."

Kill Fallen. Behead Fallen, Roundhouse kick a Fallen into the concrete. Slam dunk a Hatchling into the trashcan. Crucify filthy Eliksni. Defecate in a Fallen ether tank. Launch Fallen into the Sun. Stir fry Fallen in a wok. Toss Fallen into active volcanoes. Urinate on Prime Ether Servitors. Judo throw Fallen into a wood chipper. Twist Fallen heads off. Report Fallen to the crayon eaters. Karate chop Fallen in half. Curb stomp Kells. Trap Fallen in quicksand. Crush Fallen in the trash compactor. Liquefy Fallen in a vat of acid. EAT Fallen. Dissect Fallen. Exterminate Fallen in the gas chamber. Stomp Fallen skulls with steel toed boots. Cremate Fallen in the oven. Lobotomize Fallen. Stuff Fallen heads in the garbage disposal. Drown Fallen in fried chicken grease. Vaporize Fallen with Solar grenades. Kick old Fallen down the stairs. Feed Fallen to other Fallen. Slice Fallen with a Vortex Frame Sword.

no seriously, seeing this shit reminded me of the extreme retardation of the writers trying to put fallen as dindu nuffins, that shit was retarded back in forsaken, if zavala had 1mg of testosterone on his awoken body he'd assemble the most bloodthristy brutal lightbearers and release them into the reef by saying "go wild" the moment the news of cayde dying reached them, the purge of the tangled shore would be known as the prime example of lightbearer cruelty that would make lord saladin cream his panties and the hive to clench their buttholes or whatever the fuck it's the equivalent, even having ikora or a smarter warlock to figure out how to use the taken like condoms to enter the ascendant plane to take a fat shit on mara sov's head.
but of course, writers are faggots so cool shit is out of the picture.

also while i'm rambling, why devs are so fucking gay to not change the damage type of coldheart to stasis? isn't the entire element about cold shit? why it's still arc?

Coldheart is called that because of the cooling system the gun has. The arc energy the gun shoots out gets so hot that the cooling has to run super cold to keep the gun at subzero temperature and prevent the frame from melting or exploding.

interesting but exotic stasis damage trace rifle....
shame bungo didn't change it, i guess streamers would complain o algo not to mention having to rewrite coldheart's lore page.

Additionally, changing Coldheart to Stasis would leave the sandbox with no exotic arc trace rifles, while Stasis already has Ager's Scepter.
