The median American is functionally wealthier then most minor nobles from 200 years ago, he also works far more, and has the stressors of the modern world, humans we’re not meant to live as we do now, doesn’t matter if you believe in God, or you think humans are the consequence of natural processes, we are social creatures, but we were designed or evolved to exist in groups of less then 2 dozen, and to meet maybe 2-300 people in our whole lives, rampant over socialization of society and the long term societal consequences of industrialization are driving humans insane. Read Stand on Zanzibar when you get a chance, very interesting book, it’s about overpopulation, but it predicts a lot of the societal ills that would come with it, namely mass shootings/mass casualty attacks

Verifiably false, people more interested in there family are going to work less and and save more (therefore spending less) the “Nuclear Family” isn’t tradition, it’s a political marketing abstraction that never meant anything. A traditional family structure where you keep your grandparents and extended family close, women stay home and raise children, and where your primary economic goal is the survival of your family, and to leave your children in a better place then you were, is in direct opposition to a nihilistic consumer culture that drives people to spend what they have while they are alive.
