As someone who doesn't read the comics, Gunn's Superman was for me decent. It's very much a James Gunn movie, for better or worse. I think the good outweighs the bad, though. The whole "punk rock is le kindness" forced meme was weird, though. Fuck off with that reddit shit.
I liked that he was a return to Boy Scout Superman, after Snyder’s, to be honest out of character, depressed god take, and the whole evil Superman fad.

We do need hopeful Superman back. He is more relevant now more than ever.

That being said, yes it was better, but not ideal. There’s some Gunninsm that are hard to ignore such as him doubling down on making his parents evil. Just like Star Lord, and Peacemaker, Superman now has an evil dad, what a coincidence.

My hot take is that he was better than Snyder’s, closer to the spirit of Superman, the big blue boy scout that just wants to do good, but he still not good enough to be among the best takes of Superman.

It was a return to Boy Scout Superman. It was not a return to Aspirational Superman. No authority. No weight on his voice. That Superman doesn't get listened to. He gets mocked. Sorry but no dice.

At least Henry's Superman commanded rooms. Snyder overdid it but there has to be an inbetween Soylatteman and Sadman.

He is more hopeful but without feeling powerful, he cannot bring hope.

And that won't cut it. Do we need Gunn's daddy issues all over this?

"Shake hands" is not the term I would use. He still gives a brutal death to people.
That would've been after Rorschach dealt with that pedophile
They are the kind that deserve it but Supes would feel it isn't heroic. He would have a sit down and a talk.
Prior to the tracking down and killing pedo, Rorschach was a short poorfag Batman do-not-kill trench coat reskin.

I’m sure in the reprints of this issue they’ll make it so Lobo pops a massive chub instead of running and screaming 😅
Point of reference the comic cover

Secondly the whole issue was one long extended 1990s shitpost. Doing everything then that couldn't have been done in the 2000s, 2010s and 2020s by DC and Marvel.

The Tick is better at being Superman than Gunn-Man. Gunn's Superman is made to be this insecure bumbler and no one respects him. Good thing Lex "A1 A1 A1!!!!" Luthor has even worse writing to mitigate Gunn-Man's ineffectiveness.

yeah really Gunn going full Tromeo and not giving a fuck about the social media backlash, including somehow bringing Lemmy back from the dead, probably could do Lobo justice
if wb dc let him have an r gunn would be perfect for a lobo movie. its supes+star lord and none of the established comic lore vs movie personality conflict.

That’s why I said he had some Gunnism that are hard to ignore. Like I said earlier I do think he has issues. I never said he was perfect.

If you think about it, his Superman is very similar to Star Lord, including having daddy issues and being immature.

He has the boy scout part, but he is still missing the Man part of Superman.

co - DCU leaks and rumors - Comics & Cartoons - 4chan.png
If the new Reddit leaks are accurate. Execs are fast Batman. If Clayface underperforms they will fast track by making DCU Batman by making Matt Reeves/Robert Patterson Batman part of the universe even if they announced a new actor for DCU Batman around August. Upcoming focus of the DCU will be Batman projects.

Man, I wished Supergirl had a decent live action adaptation.

The CW series was pure Democrat Party propaganda with some of the most obnoxious lesbian fandoms imaginable.

Never saw the 1984 film with Helen Slater, but I’m aware it was produced by Alexander Salkind who kicked Richard Donner off of Superman 2.

Now we have an obnoxious version from Gunn, who has been doing the same trick since Guardians of the Galaxy back in 2014.
Helen Slater, Faye Dunaway, Brenda Vaccaro, and Peter O'Toole make the 84 film watchable. It is dumb campy fun. Leagues better than the crap of today.

Th3Birdman is also trying to defend Supergirl from people like Critical Drinker.

How come saying a movie is bad is always a grift to these people but sucking up to a billion dollar corporation is not?

Oh, and last I checked asking for an interview and then screaming and crying over the most basic questions is not being a boy scout, that is just being a spoiled brat who wants everyone to worship you and never question anything you do. Gunn's Superman is really far from being a boy scout. Hell he broke into Lex's office, violating his constitutional rights, and then acts shocked when one of the richest men on earth had the ability to show this on the internet. This isn't like the first Superman movie where Lex was already wanted by the police and and hiding in a hole, this Superman thinks people only have rights when he is okay with it, that is not being a boy scout.

Not only should Superman be joining Lex in prison at the end of the movie(Just because your victim gets convicted of a crime doesn't mean you get off the hook for any crimes you committed against them)but there is a good chance a good portion of the case against Lex gets thrown out of court since the evidence was found as a result of his rights being violented.

So Superman's inability to control his emotions means that Lex will be right back out on the streets committing crimes soon, so Gunn's Superman isn't even and affective hero.

Gunn's Superman is only a boy scout on the surface level and he is also an idiot, so this is not Superman in my book.

For instance how many people died while he saved the squirrel and the top of a building is the last place you should leave someone in a disaster where buildings are knocked down. Guy Gardner was a way more affective hero than Superman and that makes sense since he is a character Gunn doesn't hate.

Gunn was being forced to make Superman against his will and it really shows.

oh boy
can't wait to see those bomb too

No one likes Gunn slop. Say what you will about Zack Snyder but his fans actually like his work. With james gunn people watch guardians 1 and think "chris pratt sure is charismatic", they watch guardians 2 and think "i like kurt russel", guardians 3 "its sad when cartoon bunny is crying". but no one actually likes any of this shit.

That's why you have angry pedro MK Ultra'ing himself through dozens of viewings of james gunns superman with his eyes taped open in order to force himself to like it. Pretending to like james gunn is a mental illness.

a hotter broad would've made more money. will poulter with long hair and no tits doesnt get asses in seats.
The Halo effect is especially important when a character is written to be distasteful, you need to trigger our subconscious to give them the benefit of the doubt because they have good genetics.

By casting someone ugly you now have to overcome the horn effect so the character needs to now be super friendly/kind and even then a lot of people wont like them because humans have evolved to judge faces within like 13 milliseconds and on a subconscious level are extremely harsh in these judgements.

It is extra odd that each reboot of supergirl gets less attractive.

We're also more able to take criticism. If someone tells me Snyder uses too much blue in his palette and his films need more lighter moments, I will say: "Yes." I still like a lot about them though. And when the fucking Harley Quinn cartoon in all its obnoxiousness tried to directly mock Snyder fans,

the response was largely amicable amusement.
