Alright, time for my whole opinion on all this Pokemon crap. I believe that this Pokemon arc is a huge nail in the coffin that is Phil's career. Like a literal railroad spike being driven right in.
Phil's views are in the toilet and he's having a very hard time getting people to support for anything that isn't the least bit Pokemon related. Then, when he plays Pokemon or TCG (heavily Pokemon influenced) he hits hit goals easy. That is because a few whales and group of dolphins are keeping this going. The problem though is that it is creating a negative loop where every person that isn't interested in Pokemon is chased off. The Pokemon streams are just miserable to anyone but the lowest IQ people cause it's just endless handholding. At a certain point, you need to go play it yourself. As this goes on, more of his people will watch him less and find other streamers that aren't dogshit. The thing Phil has going for him is the autistics coming by every single day.
Now, let's talk about the Pokemon Cards. We saw months ago that Mr. Downfromtherafters was no longer in a guild in WWE Champions. Phil has said before that the main appeal of mobile games was to work with a guild. Those mobile games make it so that a major part of endgame progression is guild content and you need to be in a whale guild, leading to a massive loop of needing to whale out. I think Phil left his guild to slowly ween himself off the game. This would explain why he's been able to afford the 2nd living room and other expensive stuff in the last few months, cause he's not wasting it on sweaty jpgs anymore.
Now, he has some of the shit he wants and has a new addiction, the Pokemon card packs. You can see the addiction more than ever he gets with gatcha, especially now when he's telling people that he's opening packs off stream. This should be a wake up call to the dent who deny his addiction. The way he has been pushing this with the 1st point is just turning people off from watching him more.
Now, the main reason I think he's doing the Pokemon packs is that he's hedging on them being his retirement account. "I'll put 5k in it now and end up with millions in 30 years *snort*!" I think he sees how those 1st edition OG charizards go for millions and expects his shitty Greninja to be worth the same in 30 years. No. I still have binders of the OG pokemon cards in my closet. The reason they're so expensive is cause the cards weren't being kept as a collectors item, we were battling them, and the cards were such a cheap quality that the holographics would scratch VERY easy from just shuffling them. Charizard was rare AF, no one at my school ever got one. A 1st edition even more so. How many kids threw them away as they got older? It's rare cause it wasn't meant to be collected and packed away.
Pokemon cards right now are going to have a Comic Book-esque crash sooner or later. Everyone should know that at one point, everyone started collecting every type of comic book and eventually no one was buying, so the whole market collapsed. The current era of Pokemon cards will go the same way. Everyone's collecting, there's too many, and no one will have nostalgia for this era of Pokemon cards in the future. This all is just this decade's version of opening Counter Strike loot boxes or TF2 crates. This shit will never be valuable and certainly won't be the nest-egg I believe Phil thinks it will be.
Anyways, I'm happy to be here as this once again accelerates the eventual trash crash that is Phil's online career that we are all just waiting here to see. Hoping this accelerates the whole thing to catch up to the brake pumping the Kino Casino arc did to us.
