I think part of it is that it's the highest rated game on a lot of sites. Phil needs to be seen as both having the "Correct Opinion" and "The Opinions the mainstream media is too bought to admit." The obvious issue there is both can't be true at the same time because both of those categories are invented for illiterate retards, which is what Phil also is. Phil has never held a legitimate position on any media. It was more honest and based on his own values in 2010 when if he liked a game depended on how well you could play while sloshed. Another really big reason why I think he genuinely likes JRPGs is because most of them are insultingly easy and you can just completely ignore entire game mechanics if you just grind and make your number go up enough. This goes for both classics and new JRPGs. And him grinding just adds more wasted time for stalling, begging and seething about trolls or food delivery.
