What puzzles me is how is Phil really going to utilize these cards that are worth money? He isn't opening an eBay store, the thought is laughable. So what? Trading it to the local card shop for 75% value in store credit? Its only worth what you can sell it for.

Phil is going to hoard them for years and will probably be thrown out with everything in his condo when he dies. At best, Kat will trade them in for a small amount when he dies.
As has been mentioned previously in the thread, Phil's endgame for card collecting is twofold:
1. To own things that other people told him are valuable.
2. To brag about owning things that other people told him are valuable.
Anyone who theorizes about some alternative end goal that involves "selling" or "using" the cards is exposing themselves as a naive child who hasn't yet realized that the only meaningful source of joy in life is filling your middle unit condo with worthless garbage.
