He's being charged with Attempted Murder 1, 60 is the maximum sentence, and I do suspect he is liable to receive it if convicted based on the “dead chimp” posts and prior criminal record making the sentencing judge privy to throw the book at him. Going off of the prosecution's case, Chud approached his victim, made a statement that he knew would be considered offensive enough to provoke a violent response, proceeded to make more statements that could be considered incitement after the victim told him to back off, and then responded in a highly disproportionate manner to what would have otherwise been a provoked assault, all done after regularly posting about how he wanted that exact scenario to happen. Unless the defense can prove that the victim had himself planned to commit murder (and the proof is a likely fake post of the victim maybe saying he would beat Chud up if he performed his schtick with him), he is absolutely fucked.
