Dadslop and Momslop are meals that are extremely easy to make; think crockpot, instant pot, one-skillet meals. They're a staple for busy moms, busy dads, and depressed college kids alike. They tend to revolve around ground beef, sausage, or chicken plus a grain--potatoes, rice, pasta, etc.
Myself being of the latter category, I have developed several slop meals that take virtually zero effort but are amazingly delicious. Post your own in the replies.
My slop meals:
Ground Beef Sauce + Pasta
- Add chopped or minced onions/garlic to a skillet if desired and cook over medium heat with a pinch of salt, until aromatic and soft.
- Add 1-1.5lbs of ground beef and cook over medium-high heat.
- Break up into small pieces and stir and shake until everything's fully browned and no pink remains.
- Drain the beef into a sealable container. You'll want to save this, tallow is liquid gold.
- Add 1-1.5 cans of storebought pasta sauce of any flavor of your choice. Mix until beef is fully immersed.
- Increase heat to high until boiling, then decrease heat to low.
- Add lots of salt, black pepper, oregano, red pepper flakes (if desired), and any other seasonings of choice.
- Stir in, and let simmer for 20 minutes for a liquid consistency or up to 60 minutes for a thicker, beefier sauce.
- Cook pasta of choice according to package instructions.
- Serve sauce over pasta with shredded cheese.
Garlic Butter Chicken Ramen/Rice
- Slice chicken thighs, breasts, or tenderloins into small pieces, and dice a small onion.
- Add 1/2-1tbsp of butter to a skillet over medium heat
- Once butter is melted, add onion, cooking for 2-3 minutes until soft.
- Add chicken, season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika/chili powder. Cook through, 3-4 mins each side. Prefer longer times, don't fret about overcooking.
- Set contents into a container.
- Melt 1 tbsp of butter in the same skillet and add 3 cloves of garlic (minced).
- Add 1tbsp of soy sauce and 1tbsp of sesame oil.
- Adjust ratios as you see fit. Stir & simmer until sufficiently aromatic , and transfer to another container.
- Cook your favorite ramen noodles or rice according to package instructions. (instant/microwave is okay too)
- Drain water and place cooked ramen or rice in skillet. Add the butter sauce and stir well. Add salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if desired).
- Add chicken and onions back to skillet and stir well. Cut into smaller pieces if desired.
- Optionally fry or boil an egg as garnish and serve.
Garlic Butter Chicken + Sweet Potatoes
Exact same as above, but cook cubed sweet potatoes (skin-on) with the chicken instead of rice/ramen.
You can also skip the step of taking out the potatoes and chicken, and just add the sauce ingredients directly. Ensure to stir well.
I made these as detailed as possible but they are way simpler to make than it sounds. Post your own recipes below.
