Christmas is the greatest holiday of all time. Halloween is the one for manchild faggots

Damn right!Ho Ho Ho Nigger lmao
Yeah, the expectation to give gifts once you've started making your own money kinda sucks. Never been a big fan of Christmas cards either, and I assume it's a boomer thing. This is good advice. I just wish the social pressure wasn't so strong. If it were up to me I'd buy no presents, go to a nice church service, visit my parents and then go home to enjoy some hot cocoa. But if I did only that it'd basically be akin to me committing social suicide in my family. Everyone would be furious I refused to partake in all the expected rituals and I'd never live it down.
It's been that way for a while now, but the secular corporatization of Christmas never ceases to annoy me and I completely understand why people become the biggest cynical assholes this time of year as a response. The music really tests my patience, especially when you have Jewish artists making Christmas music. I hate how much it has shifted from being a family holiday to a consooming holiday.
Similar, albeit for different reasons. We used to do our Christmas eve stuff mainly at the house of one of my mother's friends (and their house was AWESOME, I'd still buy it if ever came up on the market and I had the dosh) where we met all sorts of family from around the nation as well as theirs. So many of our extended family are gone now, so the tradition died with it. Our get togethers are so much smaller and somber now. It's still good and provides levity, don't get me wrong, but the magic is mostly dead.Christmas has just become sad for me.
I’m almost positive it’s just nostalgia talking, but people seemed genuinely happier around the holidays when I was growing up. It wasn’t some Hallmark idealization of Christmas, but people did seem much more friendly and not so fucking hellbent on the CONSOOME PRODUCT! mentality.
Presents were nice sure, but I always liked getting together with family, baking cookies with my grandma, even the neighbors would have a get together and have fun. Now everyone just seems angry and miserable constantly and it’s draining. I haven’t been able to enjoy the holidays since I was probably in my early teens because it just feels like an avalanche of negativity anymore. All the joy has been completely sucked dry
