A to the Men.Example: I was so excited to get multiple pair of socks and winter clothes for Christmas during college.
Cincinnati chili is the tits. Haven't had it in ages. It's the one time of year I get to visit my grandmother in Ohio which means it's the only time of year I get to eat at Skyline which means it's automatically my favorite holiday.
I assume this probably IS something single adults do, but I've been reading about the history of Christmas ("The Battle for Christmas" by Neisenbaum), and I like the way it used to be, basically, Winter Mardi Gras/Carnival.Christmas stopped sucking when I started attending mass on Christmas Eve. It's literally the only thing I look forward to anymore because proper religious Christmas music blows Mariah Carey out of the water. If you develop an appreciation for Christmas hymns, the more decidedly secular stuff you hear on the radio this time of year feels uncomfortably plastic at best and unlistenable at worst.
My point to all of this is that Christmas when you're an adult is what you make of it. If you can find one good thing to look forward to each year, it stops being a real slog to get through.
This is a good way of looking at it. I love Christmas, but I've always had good memories of the holiday. I imagine it's not as pleasant to some people.Christmas stopped sucking when I started attending mass on Christmas Eve. That's very true. Someone very close to me, and a very devout Baptist at that, lost her husband to covid two days after Christmas last year. I do wonder how Christmas is colored for people who experience loss like that so close to holiday, and perhaps I'll know soon enough when I visit home at the end of the month. This is a good way of looking at it. Ho Ho Ho Nigger lmaoKill yourself.

This is good advice. I just wish the social pressure wasn't so strong. If it were up to me I'd buy no presents, go to a nice church service, visit my parents and then go home to enjoy some hot cocoa. But if I did only that it'd basically be akin to me committing social suicide in my family. Everyone would be furious I refused to partake in all the expected rituals and I'd never live it down.Christmas stopped sucking when I started attending mass on Christmas Eve. I feel you bro...best of luck to you as well.Give me TMI ratings. I can see where you're coming from.
At least for me, ever since my grandfather died, the family just came apart and a lot of bad things happened so it just made holidays not as enjoyable for me, even though I have been trying to get out of this depressive state of mind for a bit now.
This year it's been pretty bad because I lost someone very dear to me, and the holidays just hit the hardest for some reason. A lot of life changes, both good and bad, and it's very hard to deal with.
It sucks when you're poor too for consumerism because you can't really spend money on gifts for others or yourself so you're "missing out". You can always make homemade goods like food and such that people can enjoy.
I'm sorry that Christmas sucks for you too OP. I hope your Christmastime won't be bad for you though. I hope you can find some enjoyment in it, even if it is something small or dumb.
Lol, just like try not to be sad lolHo Ho Ho Nigger lmao
