I didn't hate LordKat, and I think he actually had a few good and insightful posts here, but one of the things that always irked me about him was his 2012 rant against Spoony.

Spoony did his whole "betrayal" thing with Angry Joe, and then LordKat flipped a tit because he believed that stunt somehow reflected badly on him as a fellow member of Blistered Thumbs. He claimed it held him back from becoming a professional games journalist paid shill.

This supposedly included losing an interview opportunity with Notch, which I STILL have a hard time believing that had anything to do with Spoony.

There are plenty of reasons to criticize Spoony, but that one is just ridiculous. Spoony was right about that X Com game. I think that even happened before Spoony started his decline into madness. Back when he was still making good content.

That one was interesting, because it largely flew under the radar and was unexpected. LordKat seemed to be avoiding the whole Weeb Wars thing, and then he put in for account deletion after the Great Security Breach of 2019. A few of us tried to convince him to go on an episode of Rekieta's show to dish on MarzGurl, but he declined on the basis he didn't he understood the situation very well. The CA alumni on the panel ended up consisting of Iron Liz and Micah Curtis instead.

Like I said, he made some good points over the years. I can't very well say he didn't. He also shit all over JesuOtaku (Hope Chapman), which I found amusing.

I guess, in the end, I find this whole thing more sad than funny. Obviously, this whole trooning out shit is much bigger than just LordKat. It's like a sick epidemic at this point.

Spoony became a giant retard, but calling out the generic shooter wearing an Xcom skin was the completely correct thing to do especially in retrospect of how well received Enemy Within was compared to the Shooter.

Am I the only one who genuinely liked that shooter? It gave me massive Bioshock vibes and I liked the 60s(or was it 50s?) setting. It's clear the game still would have been focused on tactical management, it just wouldn't have been a strategy game anymore.
Shame they butchered that game and ended up releasing a half assed tactical-action hybrid instead. Original Bureau is one of my never-evers, along with Prey 2.
Oh, and the XCOM reboots really are overrated and halfassed. Don't see the appeal in them, at least play a more hardcore game that uses similar mechanics like Phoenix Point
