There really does seem to be a Doug Walker curse or rather a lot of the ex-contributors are just miserable sad-brained assholes who have accomplished little in their lives so they they had to try to ruin Doug's life in order to make themselves feel better.

It's not so much of a curse as a statistical inevitability. Like being a game journo, being a web content creator means you failed an actual career unless you unexpectedly stuck gold so your expectations were already low and you can enjoy the fruits of your labour without the bitterness (in the case of James Rolfe, ironically when he tried to actually had the film aspirations he got burnt out hard).

Spoony got the last laugh. Aleo like I keep saying, Spoony had actual positive affect on gaming with his autistic protest kickstarting the X Com revival which brought back the entire genre.

I didn't hate LordKat, and I think he actually had a few good and insightful posts here, but one of the things that always irked me about him was his 2012 rant against Spoony.

Spoony did his whole "betrayal" thing with Angry Joe, and then LordKat flipped a tit because he believed that stunt somehow reflected badly on him as a fellow member of Blistered Thumbs. He claimed it held him back from becoming a professional games journalist paid shill.

This supposedly included losing an interview opportunity with Notch, which I STILL have a hard time believing that had anything to do with Spoony.

There are plenty of reasons to criticize Spoony, but that one is just ridiculous. Spoony was right about that X Com game. I think that even happened before Spoony started his decline into madness. Back when he was still making good content.

Still, sad to see Jason troon out.
