Money Chandlers sued for debt megathread

I doubt there's anything but tard bucks in there and they're not supposed to garnish those, but this Midland Funding operation is one of these scumbag debt collectors that "accidentally" does shit like that all the time and Chris is too dumb to have set up protections on it.

So far we don't actually know one way or the other if he's technically "in state custody." He could just be in a tard home.

If they know that and are going ahead anyway, they're pretty much scum, but this could just be automatic on their part.
I don't think it would take a lot of effort to review his bank history and notice the thousands of dollars that came flooding in from gofundme, patreons, random weens, praetor, etc... stuff that wasn't related to the tugboat at all.

I think he was kicked off Patreon pretty much immediately after being arrested. The only time he used Gofundme it was to go to the TooManyGames con. He didn't meet his goal but went anyway and got thrown out. I bet Praetor has ripped off most of his money and just given him pennies. I doubt he's got anything that would attract attention since he was arrested.
If I'm not mistaken, social security disability has some fairly strict rules regarding how much one is allowed to keep in a checking/savings account.
He's on Social Security Disability Insurance, not Supplemental Security Income. SSI is means-tested. SSDI is not.

Chris ain't exactly a reliable narrator

But he did claim barb stole his tugboats behind bars

Every time i read anything writen by Chris it feels like a word salad 🥗.
Kind of like the Da-Da art style where you cut up a news paper and rhen randomly pull out words to construct a sentence.
Is Chris gonna turn out to be the next Terry Davis? Watch him make SonicOS and claim it's how he will commence the merge.

Chris isn't smart enough to make a whole OS and he doesn't have the patience either. Maybe if the local library has Adobe Animate on their PCs he could follow a tutorial and make a shitty platformer game where you zap things as Sonichu, but I don't think he can make anything more difficult than that.

Power leveling slightly but I've got a CS degree and am employed as a software engineer. I couldn't pull that off, and I've perhaps only met a handful of people in my career who could.

Yeah, Terry might have been truly certifiable, but he was exceptional when it come to software engineering.

One of the things people may not recognize is that Temple OS really was quite impressive. From my understanding, the OS was essentially idiosyncratic. It didn't follow most of the common methods that one would use to do most things and construct most of its functional elements. Given its idiosyncrasy, one could, in certain ways, say it is more impressive than Linux, in that Linux was a derivative of Unix and has established ways of doing certain things, where as Temple OS was bespoke. It takes a certain kind of exceptional insight and intelligence to write a bespoke OS.

His potential contributions to the greater body of IT and computing might have been quite impactful in many ways if his mind hadn't betrayed his understanding and grasp of reality.

It does make sense that Chris is a talentless hack, and how many people in general are incapable of having knowledge on making an OS. But, it was his ego, impatience and mind that pulls him away from accepting criticisms, and trying new things to change himself. As well as a what-if Chris does attempt to make a game of Sonichu, but he is not that level of capable of animating basic things, and can only make soulless childlike drawings, despite of him being an grown ass adult.
He just could not take criticisms and never grow up, thus why he acts like a child chronologically, and lacks what to be mature.

That was my impression too based on some spelunking I did through the source a few years back. While unconventional it's certainly coherent and consistent in the way it does things. That's the signature of a genius IMO, both in terms of eccentricity and intelligence.

The tech community is poorer for him not getting the help he needed.

Doubt. Single-handedly constructing your own OS from scratch is practically unheard of. I mean, not impossible, but most smart people would still need an unreasonable amount of time to do that, Chris chimps out when something can't be done in an hour

I think I remember that Chris never had any actual ideas for a Sonichu game, or game he wanted to make, but instead, wanted Nintendo or Sega to "just make one", but also hire him to sit in a corner office for some reason.

So, they are stupid enough to sue someone with no job, no assets, and lives on a tugboat? Their lawyer should be fired for being this retarded.
These filings are basically automated by these debt collectors, they just cast a wide net and see how much they can get. Since they buy the debt for pennies on the dollar (if that) once it's written off, it's part of the cost of doing business to hit a dud that they can't collect on.

The real fools are the ones who extended credit to Chris in the first place.

What is the sense in buying debt?

Is it worth it in the hope that one of the debtors might pay up?

That's essentially what it is. They're using the principle of statistical averaging, where they estimate a small percentage of people that pay up more than cover the cost of buying a large amount of debt that will never be paid. Overall, they should come out ahead even if they don't break even on some debt purchases, but come out further ahead than expected with others. If they don't come out ahead, they suck at what they are doing and should go out of business.
