UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Needed a slight tweak.

And right the way up the chain, bottom to top

The agencies (gangs) who probably brought them here. The middle men. The big companies who profit off this situation.

The human rights lawyers might make it difficult to boot the engineers out of the country. Make it less profitable for everyone involved, that'll go some way to sorting the problem.

The Taliban leaders came from mostly Western universities, engineering, and the like. ISIS hired literal retards.
Not just the leaders - one of the 9/11 hijackers was a formally trained architect who'd studied in Hamburg. In particular he'd been very critical of high-rise buildings, he thought they fucked up skylines, and, well, the rest is history.

We're in for a real rollercoaster of a government for the next two years. Burnham wants to reindustrialise, because he's got a nostalgia for the nationalised heavy industry of the past. He knows that can't happen if energy is expensive. However, he also wants to double down on all the right-on, arty-farty progshittery of the last 20 years. These are incompatible paths, which means he'll be on a collision course with something from the first moment he steps into number 10. He'll tax and spend us into an even deeper hole regardless of what path he chooses.

Burnham set to announce plans for new North Sea oil and gas drilling when he becomes Prime Minister on Monday, breaking Labour's 2024 manifesto on his first day (a new record?) (X). They must be able to see the writing on the wall with the energy prices, especially with how many businesses and shops are closing over it. Polanski is already whining about the drilling rumours.
He will only be expanding current licenses, but is presenting it as a 'major change of direction'. He's also rumoured to be increasing foreign aid to 0.7% of the GDP. (X)

Protest in Tollcross, likely over sex offenders again. (X)

I wouldn't worry, I can't see him lasting 2 years.

Twatter says the people arrested for terrorism against Muslims last week have all been released without charge. Looks like the whole thing was a rushed job to distract from the widdecombe assassination.

Please let it be so.

A weekend release with no charges after using the "terrorism" claim to ensure they had more interrogation time? Sounds like the police fucked up big style and their targets refused to plead guilty. If so we could be getting a lot of material soon.

Four cans in and England are playing the best football they've played all tournament using the fucking B team.

Get fucked France. Our niggers are better than your niggers.
There are two white men playing on the entire England team, I don't give a fuck who wins. They're all African niggers, and this entire World Cup thing has been a massive distraction from the constant horror our people face on a daily basis at the hands of our government. Deport them all.

Gateshead dad gave son savage public beating after drunken row over whether it was 4am or 4pm

A savage dad subjected his son to a shocking public beating which left witnesses fearing he was dead. Josh Rooney stamped on his son's head, kicked him in the face and repeatedly punched him after a drunken row over whether it was 4am or 4pm.

Newcastle Crown Court heard the pair had been to various bars in Newcastle and Gateshead when Rooney's mood darkened and he turned nasty in a taxi over his confusion about the time. He left his son covered in blood and he passed out at one point and looked like a ragdoll as Rooney continued delivering blows, with witnesses thinking he had killed him.

The court heard the father and son had not been in regular contact over the preceding 12 months but they were in touch on December 19 last year about the son going to Rooney's home for a drink. The son went to a friend's home to watch a boxing match in the early hours and turned up at his dad's around 6am and they went out drinking.

Later that afternoon, after visiting various bars including Wetherspoon's in Gateshead and Stack in Newcastle city centre, Rooney's mood changed and while in a taxi on the way to a bar in Gateshead, he started arguing with his son because he thought it was 4am, when in fact it was 4pm.

Rooney, 41, threw his arm back to try to hit his son in the rear of the cab and when it stopped, he dragged him out of the car and onto the pavement. He started punching him and his son hit him back.

Rooney, of Acomb Court, Harlow Green, Gateshead, then pinned him to the ground, using his weight to render him defenceless. He carried on punching him to the face and body then put his hand around his nis neck as if to strangle him.

The victim passed out for 15 to 30 seconds and came round to find himself covered in blood and tried to drag himself along the ground. Rooney then said "do you think you are the big man" and kicked him in the face and stamped on his head and shoulder while he was on the floor.

A woman who had witnessed what was going on called the police. She said the younger man appeared unconscious and that the older man picked him up and threw him against a wall.

Andrew Epsley, prosecuting, said: "She thought the younger man was dead because he looked like a ragdoll and his face was covered in blood. She told him to stop and he said 'it's my f****** son' and carried on.

"The woman said to the police at one point 'I think he has f****** killed him. She didn't intervene because she feared he would turn on her."

Staff at a bar went outside to try to intervene but Rooney would not let them near the victim, stating "this is my son". That witness said the victim was motionless and covered in blood.

Rooney was seen to nudge his son with his foot at one point and say "I hope you die".

The victim was left with various injuries including bruising to his face and forehead, a cut to his lip, soreness to his hand, swelling to his forehead and marks to his forehead.

In a victim impact statement, he said he had a gash to his head and a damaged ankle and it took a month-and-a-half for the bruising to fade, during which time he felt people were looking at him because of his injuries.

He said he also lost up to £3,000 in wages due to having to take time off from working as a labourer. He added: "I became a recluse. I looked awful and felt awful and I lost two-and-a-half stone.

"I remember sitting on the pavement sobbing. Even with the police next to me he was shouting at me across the car park.

"I can no longer bear to be around drunk people. I'm scared and wary of their unpredictability.

"The assault has changed my personality. I've lost friends from not being as sociable and I've lost friends from supporting this prosecution. I know it was the right thing to do but some of my closest friends have called me a grass."

He added of his dad: "I gave him chance after chance only for him to do this to me. He is my father and if I can't trust him, who can I trust."

Rooney, who has 23 previous convictions and was subject to a community order at the time, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Judge Robert Adams said: "This was a total betrayal of his relationship with his son, beating his son in the way he did. I'm going to give him another chance but if he breaches it I'm going to send him to custody."

He told Rooney: "You could not possibly complain if I imposed an immediate custodial sentence. You recognise that's a likely outcome."

He was sentenced to two years suspended for two years with 100 hours unpaid work and a 120 day alcohol abstinence monitoring requirement. He was also given a five-year restraining order banning him from contacting his son.

Jordan Parkinson, defending, said: "His offending is directly linked to his mental health and resorting to excessive alcohol and cocaine consumption as a coping mechanism. This offence has been a huge wake up call to him.

"He knows he has severely damaged his relationship with his son. He is remorseful."

This almost reads like a joke. "Okay mister, you get a 24th chance! But you better not do it a 25th time or you're really gonna get it!" I guess the only way to actual get locked up in the UK is making fun of a tranny or defending yourself from a convicted rapist.

Why the fuck is he increasing foreign aid? Divert ALL foreign aid to pay for flights back to wherever around the equator the illegals are from, spend the rest on the pensions the government keep bleating they can’t afford. Fucking spastics. A child could budget better then the government.

He needs to expand oil and gas drilling immediately, because gas especially is the only way we’ll be keeping the lights on reliably. We sure as shit aren’t affording to buy what little we can from the yanks (sorry, can’t say that word any more, it’s apparently illegal somehow) blessed and wonderful American brothers. Or Norway.

There are two white men playing on the entire England team, I don't give a fuck who wins. They're all African niggers, and this entire World Cup thing has been a massive distraction from the constant horror our people face on a daily basis at the hands of our government. Deport them all.
My club tea have signed a bunch of new players, to the usual fanfare. Every single one is from abroad. Who gives a fuck about developing English talent, amirite?

Don’t forget getting stabbed by an immigrant!

Yeah but weren't the hijackers mostly all Saudi, rather than Taliban?

Honestly, if this is a genuine desire and not just a virtue signal (every Prime Minister says they want to revitalise Britain's industry), he's already better than Starmer, who had nothing for us but tyranny and following the WEF/Trilateral Commission Globalist playbook
