UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Última edición por un moderador:
All my grass is FUCKING dead!
My grass is yellow, does that mean I can eat it? Lemon grass?
It's easy to overeat and get fat on the public purse. All those sibsisozed meals in the Commons restaurant, and alcohol is rammed with calories.

I can't fully articulate how much I despise Rayner. Her entire life is a demonstration of how getting involved in a union, being useless and getting promoted cos she presses the right flesh. She's deeply incompetent and a fraudster.
But she's working class, and you automatically have to respect and trust her!!!!!1

I would say lobbying should be stopped but the minute someone who says this and has a chance of doing so, they will be found dead in a ditch a week later.

SNP will go on about another referendum for pretty much forever as a way to keep the naive voting them. It's their fault that they decided to have other than Scots vote for in it as polls suggest that a majority of non Scots voted to stay. Should of been more ethnic nationalist. Only way nationalists will get independence is the old fashion way and that's not happening with the SNP or any drive for it by a majority of the public.

They certainly could have been more ethno nationalist, but their whole patter was (and is though you don't hear about it so much) progressive leftier-than-the-english kettles oan for new Scots crap.

If they'd ran on an ethnic platform, and somehow secured a franchise on that basis, they'd have excluded many no voting none-scots, but also excluded many yes-voting progressives who believe that the only thing holding Scotland back from a socialist utopia is The English. So really, it wouldn't have made any difference to the result.

And that's before considering whether those that are ethnically Scottish but live elsewhere in the UK should have had a vote on the same basis.

Fun fact: Burnham is the first Catholic prime minister, and as such cannot advise the King on appointments to the Church of England. Boris doesn’t count since he was confirmed as an Anglican whilst attending Eton.

A second fun fact: this is the most Oxbridge-educated cabinet in history, with 17 out of 28 ministers having studied at one of the two.

Well we don't have to worry about digital ID anymore, so my takeaway thus far is the the StarmerMaxxxing accelerationists were retards and we should instead continue WeimarMaxxxing to cycle through PMs every 6 months or so until Our Struggle concludes.
I get a feeling we're overdue a part-n-parcelling, B-man's response to it when it inevitably hits will be one of those defining moments IMO, Oasis can indeed only get you so far.

As if you need another reason to hate "British" men:

I was a postie for many years (this was waaaaayy back when most routes were bike based). I had my share of run-ins with dogs, but never kicked one. Funnily enough, part of our training was how to deal with aggressive dogs, and we were told, always carry a couple of pens and a lighter, even if you don't smoke, because shoving a pen up it's nostrils,or flaming it's nose with the lighter, would nearly always get it off you.

We were also told to give it our mail bags, and shown how to,in the worst case (as in, if it's going for your face or throat) how to dispatch it by grabbing it's front legs and yanking out to the sides. I never had to do this, but lost more than my share of post bags to unfriendly dogs.

This though,it's inexcusable and indefensible.

It is a heart warmingly British thing that not only the RM still exists, but it doesn’t appear to give a shit about worker health and safety, risk assessments or any kind of compromise such as asking dog owners to put a postbox at their garden gate.
You will get the goddam letters on your doormat come hell, high water or vicious animal attack.

Thank you for your service o7

Haha I remember during the 2014 referendum hearing from a great many ethnic Scots living elsewhere (mainly England and the USA) and they were, to a man, fiercely in favour of an independent Scotland. Ooh they were so Scottish. They loved Scotland so much that they'd do anything but live in the damn place lol. I'm sure the vote would have been Yes (sorry, "Aye") if you included the Scottish diaspora.

It can be quite amusing to ask them to explain just how many Scots were Jacobites, and who were they fighting against in Scotland? Although it's funnier still to just pretend to not know who Bonnie Prince Charlie is.

I'd just wind them up by pointing out that JK Rowling got to vote but they "didnae".

Thames Water announced a hosepipe ban today, and then suddenly the water pressure drops off and stops completely. Because this is Bermondsey right now, thanks to a burst water main

Naturally Thames Water hasn't told anyone this yet, so it's being explained via social media.
On the flip side, Keir Starmer and his team are having a normal one, as this got posted on his official TikTok

This is not a shitpost, this is legitimately something that is on Keir Starmer's official TikTok right now.

I mean, Sean Connery is like the textbook example of this. All for Scottish Independence, lived in fucking Bermuda

Having now heard that Ann Widdecombe was bludgeoned over 20 times with a hammer I truly think that gutterbrained troon lolcow that xeeted he hoped it hurt has something very similar happen - not now, but when they're a completely defenseless geriatric and they can understand the abject horror involved in being subjected to something like that.

This may have been said, I haven't been reading the thread recently... Hearing that the guy had clippings of Nigel Farage wall to wall in his flat strongly suggests he had a psychotic obsession with knocking off The Enemy and simply chose Widdecombe because her address was publicly available, she is clearly always at home (alone) based on her zoom call-ins to GB News, and that she was an elderly woman. He knew he could easily carry it out with next to no resistance. I couldn't really wrap my head around why someone would target her specifically over all the more relevant and current politicians but the above factors make it very obvious.

This is from the leaked YourParty list from a while back. No idea if it's already been posted but I think it's worth posting regardless.

It shows some very interesting things if this happens to be the same Joshua Kerry from Rotherham (realistically, it's got to be him): First off, there's absolutely no way this guy isn't a completely smooth brained political retards, as every single Your Party guys tend to be, but the thing that stood out for me the most was the N/A in occupation.

This fucker is an unemployed, possible PIP retard who decided to drive 200 miles to the house of a political figure and brutally murder her in her own house while she was eating dinner. It's absolutely clear that the 'mental illness' excuse isn't going to fit here, as if someone was a complete turbospaz they wouldn't have been able to drive 200 miles in a car. I could JUST about buy an unstable retard managing to drive recklessly from a town over despite not having a license, but this shows that he very clearly has the mental state to pass a driving exam. What's more, the car in question is one I believe you can get with the Motobility scheme.

So this fucker is possibly living off the state with an ADHD/Autism/Anxiety combo of NEETbux and the state got him a car (with taxpayers money) so he could drive 200 miles to brutally murder a politician who was roughly 3 and a half showers from passing away naturally.

When you get raped by the taxman with every payslip every month, remember it's going to charitable causes like... this?
