He's going to buy a store bought cake. There is apparently no time to make and eat a birthday cake since he is leaving to go on his trip the next day. Betty Crocker box cake last year confirmed as if the cake had been made from scratch, Khet could easily make a smaller cake for them to eat in one night by adjusting the recipe.

Phil claims to have "developed Partial Lactose Intolerance later in life" which only specifically milk will cause him to experience episodes of rapid intestinal evacuation. While I know it's possible to develop this, I find the case for his symptoms arising from alcoholism much stronger.

I'm going to put this here too, due to Phil's recent on-air claim of having self-diagnosed "Partial Lactose Intolerance" as his cited reason for not accompanying his birthday cake with a glass of milk and his specific and graphic depiction of his symptoms comporting exactly with recent academic research on the subject; I am calling it what it actually is: Alcoholism.

Basically Phil probably doesn't ever go a full week without either binge drinking at lest 7 or more drinks several times, or is having 3 or more drinks every single day, or some combination of the two. This likely puts Phil's Gin consumption at more than a gallon a month, or over a liter a week. . .over two 2 liter bottles a month for Americans lol

I think we can safely say over the birthday week (sigh) he's going for 5k. How much of that he'll make with how greedy he's been the last few weeks/months IDK. TL;DR Unless he had some kind of intestinal disease or surgery, it's alcoholism causing his Secondary Lactose Intolerance by causing his body to underproduce lactase. In many dairy derived foods the amount of pure milk sugar (lactose) is lower than the amount in milk causing people who have low production levels of the lactose digesting enzyme lactase (in Phil's case due to alcoholism) to be able to eat cheese without symptoms, but not able to drink milk.

Basically if your body isn't able to handle the amount of lactose you put in it it won't get digested in the small intestine like normal and goes to your colon where it causes all the symptoms of Lactose Intolerance. In people with Primary Lactose Intolerance they don't produce any of the enzyme lactase and can't digest any lactose naturally, in people with Secondary Lactose Intolerance they can handle some and it's thought that if you can treat the underlying disorder (in Phil's case alcoholism) this will go away too.
