Baldur's Gate III Announced - ...and it's coming to Google Stadia and PC

Neeshka was still very much is a Tiefling, at heart, although they seemed to have completely abandoned the idea that their fiend blood would compel them to more heinous behavior.

Neeshka was "good" but Chaotic Good, and she fully embraces her penchant for thievery. NWN2 didn't really turn up the whole racism angle, but it *is* a fact that they're far less fiend-like and that their heritage is now basically a cosmetic choice.

Hordes of the Underdark also gave you a Tiefling companion who was more thr classic type you mentioned. He would often talk about resisting the call of his blood. Romancable too. Part of his personal quest was helping him overcome this demonic influences.
Neeshka outright complains that everyone thinks she's going to steal from them, and then without a hint of introspection immediately says "Well yes, I do steal from people constantly, but its not like I can help it!" In the past it was quirky and cute (in a way) for her to be so cheeky and borderline insufferable like that, but Current Year just makes it into outright Dinduism.
They have a man in drag at the circus too
Right, but that's where men in drag are supposed to be found.

That lack of introspection was key. It's basically the Tiefling heritage interfering with what should be common sense. For them, acts of good and evil are more abstract and have no cosmic significance.

Neeshka could see the immediate harm of being labeled a thief, but only from a standpoint that it inconveniences her, not because she sees thievery is wrong. She has no sense if anything long term or affecting her friends. That issue is sorta addressed in NWN2.

Thats why I liked Mol as a character. She constantly looks at any scenario from a standpoint of, "How will this benefit me?" And "How can I spite those who wronged me?"

Right, but that's where men in drag are supposed to be found.

Good point.

Yeah, I'll be honest and say its been ages since I last played NWN2. Every time I've tried I've gotten to the Old Owl Well and then just stopped because it turns into a boring slog that just feels off from the rest of the game. But you're right, they do address these flaws in characters and there's neat sidequests for your companions, like getting the dwarf to start the 12-Step Program so he can become a Monk.

I don't know how many people have discovered this, but I wanted to post it because I think it's funny and it's possible to do without mods. You can obtain the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane as early as Act I using the ability Command: Drop. This ability can be used by Clerics, Paladins, Fiend Warlocks. Bards can learn it too, but only much later. You'll also need about 3 Invisiblity Potions. I've been able to obtain a Silver Sword as early as Level 2 doing this.

At the Mountain Gate in the northwestern corner of the map, you find the Githyanki patrol where Kith'rak Voss will land his dragon. When you go there, you need to make sure Lae'zel is not in your party or she'll become hostile and you'll be forced to kill her. Avoid walking through the gate and, instead, make your way to a ledge overlooking the patrol, pictured here:

Here I'm using Shadowheart to use Command: Drop on Kith'rak Voss. I've also had her drink an Elixir of Vigilance for a higher Initiative roll for when she enters combat. When you use Command: Drop on Voss, your chances of success will be very, very low. This is because he is a Level 12 mob and, at this point in the game, your characters will only be about level 2-6. My Shadowheart had a Wisdom score of 16 and had a 12% chance of success when using Command. Most likely you won't get Voss to drop the sword on the first try, so you're going to have to savescum a bit if you want this to work.

No matter what happens, after you initiate combat, Voss will fly away. He won't fight you, but you will have to deal with the patrol. This is one of the most difficult fights in Act I, especially if you're low level and don't have a full party.

Here, I had Shadowheart drink an Invisibility Potion before runnning far enough away to Flee. Combat will end as soon as you've fled and you'll have an easier time trying to nab the sword. For this, I had my PC drink another Invisibility Potion before sneaking down and picking it up. Note the Githyanki patrol will NOT pick up the sword. Sounds idiotic, I know, but they just leave it there for the taking and not even Voss will come back to retrieve it.

Yes, this is broken as hell, and I love it!

Screenshot 2023-10-21 234926.png

As soon as you pick up the sword, you will lose your invisibility. It's best to retrieve it with a character with a higher Initiative score which is why I used my PC (Rogue with 20 Dex). Pop another Invisibility Potion, run away, and Flee combat.

Now, a quick warning: if you bring the sword back with you and talk with Lae'zel, you will trigger some Act III comments from her. Be aware of this lest you get spoiled, you filthy cheater.

Note she'll also talk about your encounter, although her dialogue does not at all reflect what actually happened. It's crazy the devs didn't account for players doing this because Lae'zel should be furious at you for what you did and utterly embarrassed that some Istik disarmed a Githyanki Dragonrider with a Level 1 Spell.

Unless your PC is a Githyanki, you can't make full use of the sword's abilities. Silly Istik, Silver Swords are for Githyanki!

Generally, I just let Lae'zel have it. She seems pretty happy to use it...

Note, if you do the [History] check, you trigger the Act III dialogue. This is how you know you were never intended to obtain the sword this early because Lae'zel makes a comment about the Githyanki Prince.

Be smart and make your wielder a Eldritch Knight or a Warlock with Tome of the Blade. Cast Bind Weapon on that thing and never let it leave your grasp! Don't be like Kith'rak Voss, kids.

It's hilarious to me how easy it was to obtain this sword considering a good chunk of Neverwinter Nights 2 is dedicated to the Githyanki dispatching hordes of soldiers intent on reclaiming one of them.

One last thing I should mention is that I've heard there's a chance that Voss will not spawn with his sword but will be carrying a crossbow instead. It's not clear why it's one or the other, maybe it's random. I haven't had it happen to me, so I might just be lucky. There's supposedly a workaround for this where you toss the Iron Flask into the patrol to summon a Spectator. Voss will attack it with his sword and you can try to disarm him after the Spectator is dead. I cannot confirm whether or not it actually works.

Okay, now I AM asking for advice.

I just got to what I’m assuming is a portal to whoever the Nightsong is, but I got one of those “advancing warnings” before going in.

Is there some general advice on what I should be sure and do before going in there?
If you haven't saved the prisoners in Moonrise Towers yet, they're DEAD when you come out of the Shadowlands.
The gnome you save from the windmill?
Barcus is a fag? When did they reveal that? I know he's obsessed with Wulfred for 90% of the game but I thought that was a friendship thing. When you save those trapped gnomes and the they hug and talk about "oh my husband!" I was disgusted that these tiny bald monsters even have romantic feelings for one another.

That's what a lot of people assumed when you're friendly with Gale. But BG3 doesn't do subtle.

I was more disgusted at hearing a man called another man his husband. But I agree, gnomes are pretty weird too.

They actually had to tone that down in an update. A few friendly comments and he thinks you're married.

That too, naturally. I was so sick of these little creeps by the time I finished the underground.

I remember seeing a lot of folks on Steam complaining about it when the game first released. I just leave him in the portal every playthrough, much less hassle that way.

The Self-Same trial always bugged out on me. The clone of my Dark Urge character looked like the default model from character creation and was named "Civilian" for whatever reason.
The clone of mine looked completely different too and was called Half-Elf. I did some googling and it seems this trial has a few issues that can crop up.

Also worth mentioning, if you can look past the uncanny appearances, Deep Gnomes are probably one of the more powerful races in the game.

Advantage of three different Saves, 24m Darkvision, and +10 Stealth all in one package.

Same goes for the Githyanki. Larian's modus operandi for character creation in Baldur's Gate 3 seemed to be that the stronger the race is, the uglier their appearance is. Aasimar would have been an awesome player character. They could fill the role as the Tiefling's opposites. Then we could have a character that is not only strong, but also eerily attractive in a half-angelic fashion.

Oh fuck, wait. I'm doing the Gauntlet of Shar right now but I'm not finished with it, can I still go back and save the Tieflings? No idea you were supposed to save that for later.
The prisoners in Moonrise towers are fine until you go in the portal to the Shadowlands, where the Nightsong is. The game will give you a warning message before you go in, so go back and rescue the Tieflings in the tower before going into the portal if that's what you were planning on doing. There are a few parts like that throughout the game, but as long as you save your game frequently, which I assume the majority of people who play games like this do anyway, you won't have too much of an issue. If you give Wulfren his hammer back, which can be found in a chest up the ladder from the room the warden is in, he'll chop through the wall and escape through a back route where there' s a boat he can use to sail back to the inn. That way he doesn't have to fight his way out through the front door.

“My head hurts…can I go back to sleep, mummy?”

Well that’s incredibly depressing…literally the last thing I did before taking the elevator down too.

Same goes for the Githyanki.
The free Medium Armor feat alone is OP as fuck. Particularly if you go Rogue, Sorc, Wizard, or Warlock.

Unfortunately the Greatsword proficiency means nothing for Rogues.

I eally miss 3rd Edition and the ability to Sneak Attack with Greatswords. Oathbreaker (Blackguard) just doesn't feel the same.

Última edición:
Giving bonus to the less attractive races makes sense. Adds more of an incentive to try them out.

In other news, I just took out one of the Chosen actively channeling/summoning the literal God of Death with a high-damage Sneak Attack.

Incentivize the goyim to accept ugliness because there's more perks. What a clever design!

These game devs sure are smart!

What the fuck are you people talking about? Githyanki already had those skills before Baldur's Gate 3. Larian didn't change them.

Not sure what you're going on about. WotC are calling the shots here, not Larian.

To be frank, the Gith actually look relatively "normal" to me compared to the nigger shite the human and elves were treated with.

Gith are probably my favorite race to play because of how OP they are. Only reason I went Tiefling for my Dark Urge playthrough was because I wanted to act like a classic Tiefling.

I already went back and saved them but yeah this is what I assumed; frankly, I don't keep as many saves as I should, but it worked out regardless. I only just got to the Nightsong today.

Of course the fight against Balthazar takes place on a floating platform that all his minions can push you off of. Had enough of that shit after my first couple tries, so then I snuck my party members into spread out positions before sniping him. The attempt was going pretty well until I fucked up and accidentally killed the Nightsong. I'll give it another go tomorrow.

If you're feeling like cheesing it:
I got just onto the platform but not enough to start combat/dialog. Hit him with Polymorph to turn him into a sheep. Then got into position and shoved and threw him with the characters who could until he fell to his death, Make sure not to cause damage otherwise the sheep returns to the normal form. You do lose any loot, but oh well.
